When I did the old High Heat leagues, any new GM was on probation for 1 year and couldn't make a trade without talking to and getting approval from their mentor. (who was assigned) stopped things like this.
That sounds oddly familiar to this rule: Bond's been with us for more than an in game year now. Although to be fair, I haven't been checking who has been here for more than a year in every trade lately. I know we did let one slip through the cracks and didn't realize it until late. Think it was a Nipper trade and it seemed pretty fair if I remember right.
Tribe bring biggest name to Cleveland in over 30 years - http://forums.traditionsportsonline.com/threads/indians-astros-trade.106744/ I really haven't been this aggressive in the trade market since my acquisition of Trevor Cahill and Nelson Cruz came back to bite me in the ass as they both die in an epic ALDS collapse and Patrick Tolentino goes on to become a future HOF catcher elsewhere. I didn't quite push all my chips in with this one, but it was a pretty heavy bet seeing as The Panda can hit the open market this offseason. Please discuss. Would love your thoughts.
Not a bad trade JJ. I would say it's pretty even although expensive for a half season rental. If you resign him for another year Id say its a good deal.
Coming to a team 3.5 GB of the WC slot with an anemic offense - can't hurt the "now" and will likely provide a significant boost if he stays healthy. He has been nicked up numerous times this year already and I hope for your one year rental he doesn't roll his ankle round 2nd . Was it worth giving up the #3 batting prospect in the league??? I would say no, not for a one year rental, possibly two.
Terrible trade for the league. Giving up a top prospect for one of the best players in baseball is sooooo dumb, why would anyone do that?
As for Sandoval, he joins an exclusive club. 3000 hits and 400 HR (should get that this year) Also in are: Hank Aaron Willie Mays Yaz Cal Ripken Eddie Murray Rafael Palmero Dave Winfield Stan Musial That's it!
I would of re-signed Panda if I couldn't get a deal that was worth-while. With Reyes/Kingwell both CF only guys, I may have to trade one in the offseason. Pablo got off to a horrible start this year but has since became his usual self, I was expecting a big finish to the season for him.
Like the move JFace907. You were one bat away from being a much better ball club, and you got arguably the best.
San Diego and Minnesota: For San Diego this was definitely a smart move, as Alexander never lived up to the player he had been. Alexander struggled in San Diego and wasn't a top tier player that I'm sure NT was hoping he would be. For Minnesota with there surplus of middle infielders dealing Gonzalez seems like a movable piece and still has Hidalgo to move in the right deal also. Since the game takes forever to load I can't see what Mora and Griffin are doing but overall not a bad deal for both sides, just remains to be seen if Alexander does well in Minnesota or if he is the slightly above average player for San Diego. Getting Clay in the deal with Kansas City this also financially makes a lot of sense for San Diego Grade for San Diego: B+, without being able to look at the game can't give a good indication on Mora and Griffin Grade for Minnesota: C, Alexander has struggled in San Diego so you don't know what player he is getting, results remain to be seen. San Diego and Kansas City: For Kansas City this spells the end of the Scotty Clay era, a Top 10 player and Top 3 1B. Clay is an absolute stud at even at 32 years old he still has some good gas in the tank, San Diego definitely knows what they are getting back in Clay. From the Kansas City perspective I just don't see it, Armstrong can play defense in center field but as another GM said about Armstrong "He is nothing more than a 4th outfielder or platooner at best" and for Cali with only two pitches for a starting pitcher as another gm put it on their thoughts of Cali "He's a bullpen arm, he wont be a starter or if they try to he wont be anything more than a 4-5" is he going to be able to be Aroldis Chapman and succeed with only two solid pitches or like many others is he going to fall flat on his face and end up in the bullpen? Finch and Allen complete out this end and once again without getting to look at them with the game loading, it leaves me scratching my head thinking that Kansas City could have made a much better deal for Clay. Grade for San Diego: A+, nothing more needs to be said Grade for Kansas City: D+, it seems like a rushed move for Clay and could have sat on him for a little while longer. If you think I'm gonna redo it cause you locked the other one to bump this one, not gonna happen. So much for trying some content.
