I started talking trades in another thread and thought maybe we should crank up TRADE RUMORS in its own thread so we don't polute the other topic

Need a new QB if the right guy is out there...not fond of "Pond" but I'll give him a shot once I have the game in hand -maybe I'll like him and keep him.

Otherwise I'll be looking for a current backup or rookie QB that wants to move to my team and become "the man" unless of course Cheez wants to trade me Phillip Rivers < my NC State boy. I'm a big run guy so having Peterson healthy is the key, having a QB is bonus to me so we won't sell the ranch to get some big name, big contract, Hollywood dude.

Short list I'm looking at in case we do make a move for a QB [heads up anyone thinking about trading your backup/rookie QB]:

    Jake Locker
    Chad Henne
    Ryan Mallet
Tim Tebow [although we already have Joe Webb who might be our version of Tebow anyway!] http://www.nfl.com/videos/auto/09000d5d82560219/QB-Webb-9-yd-run-TD
    Russell Wilson < NC State
    Colt McCoy
    Vince Young

With the moves that the Bucs made in the real life offseaon, my roster should be good to go. Lots of young guys that should grow into good players.

    The Eagles are effectively shopping:

QB Mike Kafka, 24 years old
QB Trent Edwards, 28 years old
WR Jason Avant, 29 years old (slot WR)
WR Riley Cooper, 24 years old
DT Mike Patterson, 28 years old
CB Joselio Hanson, 30 years old (nickel CB)

    Will listen to all offers.

With Matt Flynn leaving, GB needs a decent backup QB. I've already experienced first hand what it is like when Rodgers goes down with injury.

I don't know if I will be looking to trade anyone except maybe dumping contracts I don't like in the first season unless the default rosters leave me with a big hole.

With an all user league how do you go about dumping contracts? I'm not trolling, I'm genuinely curious, as this is my first run in a league of this scale....

It won't be so much dumping but it will be literally cutting guys with ugly contracts - absorbing the cap hit in the short term - which in turn sets your team up nicely for the salary cap down the road. That will be my goal at least - long term viability. Too many guys have these monster contracts that hamstring you if you cut them. You just have to take the lumps early to get out from under them as fast as possible as opposed to waiting a few years.

Ahhhh, I thought he was referring to dumping guys via trade.

I will be anxiously awaiting who buffalo and cincy release to see if they can help my team.

It just requires mutual benefit and one team having cap space. If I've got a LB with a shitty contract, there might be a team who is willing to get a little more expensive than desired contract so they don't have to find a guy in free agency or there's a hole in the roster that they need filled asap. I don't think I have many bad contracts and I think I have plenty of space, so I might not even need to do that, lol.

Plus, the idea of something for nothing is always nice.

Only the Eagles have put up a big block!

Nah, I actually meant via trades. Granted, if the guy is worthless its easier to cut him, but even it's a 6th rounder it's nice to get something back!

Yea, I don't see you doing a lot of moving around with your roster especially at the WR position.

    Yep

I think Benn will make a nice little slot receiver.

Big block? Five of the six players are depth. There shouldn't be a rule on looking at options, pulling the trigger a different story.

    ha ha!

While I love a good trade I'm also excited by the Vikings draft this year. Man did they fill some needs!! Great draft by the Vikings IMO.
If Ponder turns out to be the real deal and these rookies step up, we may not need anything via trades.

    Draft
I can see several draft picks starting [or challenging for the 1st team] for the Vikes next year.
    OT Matt Kalil < starter
    FS Harrison Smith < starter
CB Josh Robinson < possible starter
WR Jarius Wright < possible starter or slot receiver
FB Rhett Ellison < possible starter
K Blair Walsh < possible starter
CB Robert Blanton, LB Audie Cole, DE Trevor Guyton and WR Greg Childs could all win spots on the depth chart and be contributors.

    Roster Speculation
Rumor has it DE Everson Griffen may move from his back up role at DE to LB. The Viking staff is giving him a chance to win the job in training camp.
