    Tradition FC: Our first victory

As TFC took the pitch late last night, there was alot of uncertainty.. Having not played together, for the most part, there was a huge feeling out process.

After struggling but playing their opponents tight to an 0-2 record on the evening, TFC faced off against FC Pasta. The game started out ominous for our boys as Rigatoni put Pasta up early with a nice goal after a breakdown in defense.

Not to be discouraged, Ryne Setzer (CAM) won possession of the ball on the wing and bent a perfect cross to the box where Kyle Xray was able to get a head on it and panic in the kitchen as the Pasta boys serve one up for us...

The game would then open up for TFC as AJ Hart would take a beautiful through ball from Tom O'Brien and bury it in Pasta sauce...

The the Italians got a bit overly aggressive with their goalie and Ryne Setzer made them pay with a hard tackle and (who scored the goal?) picked up the lose ball and hammered it home.

From there we salted the game away with some good possession and spacing.

    GG, our first win.

Nice win ladies. You should quit while you're sorta ahead :p

I think last year's team was like 15-100 or something... Hahaha.

I hate the unis though. Whatever team Mutt used last year had sweet kits.

we have to keep in Red/White, Red/Black ....and i pick the kit more based on the logo/crest... ours is cool and generic. If someone can present me a better option i will look at it.

What team's kits were you using? Hate is a strong word, just not as "popping" as the others.

Hell yeah TFC! One correction though Ryno -- the through-ball on our 2nd goal was by yours truly, Tom O'Brien!

    GO TFC! :D

I like ours. Nothing flashy or ultra-modern, but they're classic.

and good win guys. i've got our first ever score by blaza on kick-off night saved - i'll post that when i get home.

perfect example of what we're talking about in that second video ...

got a bit lucky there that the mass of defenders couldn't make a play on the ball.

should have been spaced something like this ...

can't fault the guy who scores.

the guy in front of him goes to the back post which is nice.

another player should be parking himself at the top of the box.

the guy at the top of the screen should go wide, with another guy down near the other side either wide or near the top corner of the box.

the tough part is even if say the guy going back post is the RM, somebody needs to realize he's moving there and cover his spot on the field.

And lets say the keeper pulls a save out of his ass and catches it. Look at all this space for him to fling a ball out and start a counter attack, with five players in a very small portion of the pitch.

Good visual aid, Bly. I think that's a pretty good learning tool.

hehe despite being a caveman caliber drawing.

i forgot to do it the other night, but i'll be recording games with my hauppage, so we'll be able to look at what happened in matches and diagram where guys should go, or what might have worked better, as a learning aid.

Good stuff Bly! After I made the pass I totally crashed the middle like a rookie. Definitely understand the point about getting some more width!

dumb question because I don't have the game and am not a soccer fan, but... does the crowd make any noise when you score?

In bigger stadiums it does. Last year I think I turned up the crowd noise in the settings. Haven't looked to see if that could be done this year or not.
