    Tradition Sliders

For those of you who don't head into the T1 forums, we've got a pretty good set of realistic All-American sliders going on, so i thought we might want to share. Anything not listed is at 50-50.

    AA
    8 minute quarters
    Speed Threshold at default (50)

    Slider Human Computer
    QB Accuracy 40 55
    Pass Blocking 45 50
    RB Ability 50 60
    Run Blocking 45 60
    Pass Coverage 45 45
    Interceptions 40 60
    Rush Defense 50 65

Since adopting the sliders we've had teams like Ohio State, Oregon and USC knock off human opponents, and some really good close victories for the human against similar teams.

One of the things we did differently is actually track human and computer passing and rushing before and after the slider change with a significant number of games (30 to 40 for each) in each group. We also have a good group of owners who play different styles with different types of teams.

Before the Slider Change - Default AA

    Passing
    Human - 406 for 711, 57.1 percent, 6947 yards, 17.11 a completion, 29 INTs
    Computer - 428 for 849, 50.41 percent, 5139 yards, 12.01 a completion, 51 INTs

    Rushing
    Human - 696 carries, 4692 yards, 6.74 a carry, 21 fumbles
    Computer - 450 carries, 1557 yards, 3.46 a carry, 14 fumbles

    After the Slider Change

    Passing
    Human - 434 for 817, 8,160 yards, 53.12 percent, 18.80 yards a completion, 35 INTs
    Computer - 484 for 852, 7,044 yards, 56.81 percent, 14.55 yards a completion, 38 INTs

    Running
    Human - 626 attempts for 3,653 yards, 5.84 yards a carry, 27 fumbles
    Computer - 561 attempts for 2,894 yards, 5.16 yards a carry, 30 fumbles

I may have to give these a go in season 2. What is the speed differential?

Bly, what affect do these sliders have on the read option, screen, and draw plays? The reason I ask is that I have been working on some sliders the past few days and haven't had good results with those plays after tweaking the blocking sliders

honestly it really depends on your team and who you are playing.

I had a helluva time running ball at all as Stanford against Oregon or USC. But was able to successfully run everything from draws to dives and the power o against Washington State.

at the same time, jms as Wisconsin ran for like 240 against Ohio State (and lost), so if you have a good line and a good back you can run on the tough defenses.

I'll tack on that I really love how these sliders are working out. We are having way more CPU losses than ever before including blowout losses as well as nailbiters.

The defenses are aggressive, and will go for the ball if you don't protect it or throw a ball into coverage. I'm usually pretty good at breaking tackles but over my past few games I've been scared outta my wits to fight for extra yardage for fear of fumbling. Overall, a great slider set IMHO.

yup i agree. my game with USC kind of sucked, but had probably the most fun i've ever had against the computer in my game against Oregon (just a great back see-saw, back and forth game with both teams gaining and losing momentum the whole time).

even my game against Washington State was fun. I ended up winning handily, but it was tight in the first half with neither team backing down.

Hey Bly, what did you use for penalty sliders? I didn't see that mentioned anywhere.

    no hijacking threads

and an aside ... on varsity you're making it so your player ratings don't matter as much since they're being artificially inflated (basically the opposite of Heisman).

My bad. I thought this was the place for slider suggestions. As for the player ratings and such, my experience has been quite different. I'm finding that players make plays (especially on the O and D lines), and scrubs get run over with regularity. Anyway, it's a fun set. Very tough. I thought it might come in handy.

Bly - are you guys seeing a lot of dropped passes for user teams?

I'm seeing receivers (especially slot wideouts) drop slants and screens...and my running backs can't catch screens on a consistent basis.

there will be drops but its equal for both cpu and human and not a ton from what i've seen. with that said if you pop a receiver at the right time he will cough it up.

Well, drops caused by contact makes perfect sense. I love forcing incompletions that way.

It's just the consistent drops that happen when receivers are wide open that bothers me.

My receivers/backs average about 6 to 8 drops a game and I rarely throw more than 25 passes.

We started out our league with these sliders (East Coast Brawl) and they worked well for a while, but I think that was two tuner updates and a patch or two ago. We seem to have outgrown them as a group, and I was curious if that has happened in the Tradition as well. If so, what tweaks have you made to this set to make it fall in line with the tuner updates?

I think we did adjust them once...I am not sure what they are at now but QB ACC needs to be lowered and Pass Coverage needs to be higher..

we haven't touched the sliders since the two tuning packs. i'm going to take a look at the stats from the tradition the last half of this season and see how they look.
