    Trifecta 2011 - Team/Format Discussion

OK everyone, first off - I've confirmed with Drifter that Trifecta is still a premier OD for 2011. I'm going to follow up with Ryno about getting us a cool logo like the other premier dynasties .

As of today, this is our roster for 2011:
    Dru50 (co-commish)
    Papa Perry (co-commish)
    Recchem
    Twister
    BDSDigital
    Beazus Christ
    EaglesIrish (tentative)
    Hokie Effect (tentative)
    Bravejaf
    Shino45
    Pepperlink
    Jman

Waiting List - marcman (retiring from T3 due to schedule)

To start off, I'd like to have everyone post 3 teams you'd really like to play in 2011. I've found that the best dynasties are ones where everyone plays a team they want, rather than being shoe-horned into a conference/team. Once we have a list of teams for everyone we can discuss what league format might make sense.

For right now, no teams are off limits so think about power teams as well as mid-tier teams. For example, my list is:

    1. Houston
    2. Miami
    3. TCU

At this point, with my other OD being a power team dynasty I'm leaning to using a mid-major team, even if others are using higher rated teams.

Post em up guys, let's get some discussion going.

    Interesting.

    1. Oklahoma
    2. Boise St.
    3. Cal

I guess. I'm OSU in C2C so I'm extremely flexible in who I would want to take. I could really be happy with just about everyone.

Marcman will not be able to participate in 2011 due to schedule reasons.

Jman - this means you are in.

BTW - Everyone be sure to welcome in Shino and Pepperlink.

Shino/Pep - You should definitely read through the dynasty rules. Obviously a lot of them might be altered once we play through the new game, but they should give you a good idea of what is considered to be sim gameplay in this OD.

    2. Big 12- Nebraska, Texas, Oklahoma
    3. Big East- Pitt, WVU

I'm with Dru...I'd really like a smaller conference team. I'd still play whoever though. Choices now are hard for me without seeing uni's lol...so we'll call these REALLY tentative.

    1) Tulsa
    2) UNLV
    3) Any non upper-tier major conference team.

Yea, I have a good idea on what your looking for here. I've read the rules, but I expect there to be changes for this years version of the game. Hopefully with the new game, scores in this league may come down a little as you guys put up huge scoring numbers on the regular in 10'

Depending on how serious Perry is, it looks very probable that we will have a CUSA conference.... Houston & Tulsa #1 choices, and a team who wants to follow the Tulsa Coach anywhere???? Interesting

I think I'd really like to go the small school route as well.

In that case my list goes a little something like this.

    1. Fresno State
    2. New Mexico
    3. ECU (that's right I'm going there!)
    4. Marshall

    Or something like that...

I'm really gunning for Ohio State since I missed them in C2C and Legacy, but I'm not only interested them.

    1. Ohio State (powerhouse)

    2. TCU (mid major stronger team)

    3. Bowling Green State University (mid major lesser team, my alma mater)

Scoring vs the CPU started exploding the past few months around the site as people have figured out that the CPU blitzes way too much and it's easy to burn them if you just expect the blitz all the time. I expect the cpu to be more of a challenge in 2011 as the game seems like it will play very differently from 2010.

Hokie-I assume that you are in for 2011? Can you pare the list you posted to your top 3?

Pep-Just for giggles, can you post a mid-major or mid-tier team that interests you?

I'm willing to go with a mid-major but I'll have to see how the rosters and offensive styles look for the ones I'm interested in.

You are correct, nobody is getting locked into anything at this point. This is to help get an idea of what direction we want to go.

Cool. I will also jump on the mid-tier team bandwagon also, if thats the majority.

Putting everything on paper right now, I think we can go with a mix. It seems the people who wants mid-major teams don't mind if others have traditional powers.... And it will be like real life... Teams in mid-major conference has to do more with less, however they can easily dominate their conference opponents and be the BCS Cinderella. While the major teams should have better talent, but will have to battle tough programs week in and week out.

Right now I see a variety of ways we can organize this. I see a possibility for two major conference+ two mid majors, or 3 conferences with 1 mid-major + 2 major.

I am like bravejaf in the aspect I was really gunning for Florida State since they weren't an option in Bowling for Roses my other OD. I will have to do sone research on mid major teams as I am not all that familiar with them besides the obvious ones like Boise State and TCU

And just so this is out there I am in favor of having a mix of mid-major, BCS, and smaller schools. I think that adds a lot of diversity and chances for upsets for the upper tier teams
