    Getting To Know Jamaal Dodd
True Freshman Takes Reins for ULL

Lafayette, LA- When Jamaal Dodd signed his letter of intent to play football for the ULL Raging Cajuns he didn't think he would see the field so quickly. The Cajuns had a very good upperclassman QB in redshirt Junior Brooks Haack and an excellent JUCO transfer in Eddie Harris. Coach Jenkins says, "The plan was to redshirt him this season, let him sit next season and have him ready to go by his redshirt sophomore season. His performance in summer and fall camp changed that."
Dodd was thoroughly impressive in camp this year. He showed the physical skills that had most schools recruiting him as a defensive back, and a surprisingly good grasp of the passing game.
During his first action fans got to see the full spectrum of having him under center. He was exciting, showing off his speed on 2 long TD runs. And he showed his lack of polish with 2 interceptions. The reason the coaches decided to go with him over Haack is because the 2 are equals in the passing game, but Dodd is electric running the ball.
"The only thing he lacks is the mental aspect, and that's something you can't get without time on the field. And his physical skills are too good to waste on the bench."
