The bible doesnt say we evolved from slime. It says god placed the first man on earth. From the mans rib came the first woman. Also when you say Man/Woman evolve from slime that really isnt accurate. You are omitting the dozens of different evolutionary points that came before anatomically modern humans. Just like when people say humans evolved from apes. Well no that isnt entirely true. Humans and Apes share a common ancestor. It isn't like a Chimp woke up one day and decided to start walking on two legs.
So whats the point here? I choose, freely, to believe in Intelligent Design rather than evolution. Creationism is my Intelligent Design. I know guys, My boss is one, who would argue that we are an alien project. Is that what your lookin for?
I wasnt attempting to come off as attacking. I was simply asking what about creationism makes sense to you more than evolution.
Kids kids... Start a bible true/false argument elsewhere please... I thought this thread was for general discussion about good books to pick up, not theological discussions and alien theory bullshit (direct jab at Keller).
Sir the reason I believe in God is simply because I understand the complexity of bodies. The brain's neurons and synapses relationship. How electrical impulses from said brain make our muscles contract/expand. The body's systems are astounding to me and I find it easier to affirm my belief and faith in God then I do that we came from chance.
Perfectly fine. I was just curious. Never have had an actual discussion with a creationist is all. Good day.
Good day to you sir. BTW BigSmooth33 ever read tales of a fourth grade nothing? Masterpeice by Judy Bloom.
I would want to get into a decent discussion, but you immediately try to trivialize the other point of view by using the word 'slime', a word describing something nasty that isnt all that accurate.
This here please , don't take my harmless book thread and make it some crap nobody wants to see argued. Uggg
It would be more accurate, than trying to dumb down the argument with particular word usage. 'What? Evolution says we evolved from a slime??!! Disgusting, I best believe in intelligent design now!'
Yeah sorry, I dont want to get into this argument at all, but just didnt like the word usage... Back on topic, I am on book 10 of the Wheel of Time re-read. I have read up to 11 before, so once I hit 12 and 13, I will be reading those for the first time. I am excited.
I picked up another one of Jared Diamond's books. Guns Germs and Steel. Almost finished with Lies my Teacher told me.
Recently started my own re-read of WoT, bout halfway through book 1. I want it all to be fresh when the last one comes out.
Well at grandmas for the weekend. In BFE withno Internet or Xbox. So I grabbed the only non-chick flick book. This weekend I'm reading The Oath by Frank Peretti
I read the entire Harry Potter series when I was younger. I usually finished each book within 2-3 days. That is all.
After reading Larsson, I wish the writer for the Hunger Games would have taken a "darker" approach. The targeted younger audience would have been better served with something else, and the Hunger Games trilogy to an older audience IMO.
Just finished The Lie by Chad Kultgen this morning. What a messed up set of characters in a book. Glad I didn't go to SMU and be in a relationshit with a sorority girl.
finally getting around to it, and absolutely loving Lucifer's Hammer. just hit hot fudge sundae: two-- not far from halfway. very curious to see where the story goes from here with so much left.
