I have a wide range, I like books about historical events or anthropology, big fan of Jared Diamond. As for fiction I am pretty open. I like Dystopian fiction such as 1984.
In that case I dont have a ton to recommend, lol Most of the distopian future stuff coming out right now is YA..... that doesnt mean its bad, but it does mean the target market is teenage girls..... If you like fantasy I highly recommend Patrick Rothfuss' book The Name of the Wind
That sucks to hear about the dystopian genre. I still need to read A Clockwork Orange, might pick that up next or Less Than Zero by Brett Easton Ellis if I can convince myself that I can tolerate stream of consciousness writing.
I'd highly recommend "A Song Of Ice And Fire" series by George RR Martin. I enjoyed all five books and I believe he is supposed to write two more to end the series however I fear he will die before he finishes.
No different than the movie. Need a dictionary just to follow it at first. Read it first when I was in tenth grade... Imagine my confusion then...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Given_Day Fuck I forgot I wanted to pick this up today. TOO MANY FUCKIN BOOKS I WANT TO READ.
Just getting into Alas, Babylon - I could have sworn some folks around here have read it... I think for school some said?
Also, Gravity check out Lucifer's Hammer it's a great read and I couldn't put it down once it got going. I love post apocalyptic stuff so it was right up my alley, but regardless of genre I think it is a fantastic book.
Roggie told me to read the Thrawn trilogy with Star Wars. I think I'm about halfway through the first.... kinda meh so far.
Baron said to as well. If I remember right, the first book starts out a bit slow then gets good near the end. The 2nd and 3rd books are better.
Yeah this one is pretty long so be ready for it to take a bit. Also stay patient as it takes a little bit to pick up the pace.
