Well, with PAgamer07 taking Waiters right before I was hoping to, I'll use Houston's second of three 1st round selections to take a chance on the biggest boom/bust guy in the draft.... With the 16th selection, the Houston Rockets select SF/PF Perry Jones out of Baylor. Strengths - Freakish athlete for a 6'11" player, with enough ball handling and shooting ability to potentially play the 3 at the next level. Weaknesses - Saying this kid isn't aggressive is putting it lightly, and he never seemed to have the light come on when it came to producing in accordance with his skill set. In reality, I wouldn't touch this kid with a 10-foot pole in the draft, since guys who don't seem to care at the college level don't usually turn that around once they get some scratch in their pockets as pros....but, with 3 picks I can take a chance on him and still have a solid draft class even if he didn't pan out.
Right on...anyone know this guy's grades/drug history and such? It looked like at times it just wasn't not being aggressive but that not all the lights were on upstairs Hmmm..just read this ESPN article Looks to be an awkward upbringing.
I have a soccer game, but if no pick is in by the time i get home i will be autopicking for the Mavs. Just a heads up MartyWebb
With the 17th pick in the NBA Draft, the Dallas Mavericks select Perry Jones III. It's the Mavericks hope that Perry Jones adds the needed athleticism, length and versatility outside of the paint. With a move to SF more than likely, he can keep a high motor with Rick Carlisle pressuring him. The Dominique Jones project has yet to work out, and Roddy Beaubois has shown flashes of talent. It's a hope for the Mavericks that with the aforementioned Beaubois, the length can keep the floor small in game time situations.
With Perry Jones being selected the previous pick, i will step in and do the official pick of the Dallas Mavericks Moe Harkless (St. John's) - SF Strengths - Length for days. Kid is very long and causes a natural mismatch. Also a great slasher to the basket from the perimeter. High ceiling. Weaknesses - No real jumper to speak of. Only shot 44% in college which is low considering how much time he spent around the basket. Very skinny. Could use some serious weight training to match up with some of the thicker 3-men in the league.
Yeah, hurts to miss that one. I didn't see that the post was updated, and no picture I must have skipped right over it. Would've gone Fab Melo and then remembered Perry in the first place. Sorry JFace907
Sorry for the delay JFace907.... With the 18th pick, the Houston Rockets select SG Evan Fournier out of France. Strengths - Good size for a SG at 6'6", but needs to add bulk to his frame. Is considered the top international prospect in this years class. Has a well rounded skill set offensively and reportedly has a great work ethic for a 19 year old. Weaknesses - He is a euro. But seriously, he is unlikely to play in the NBA for 2-3 years, which is fine since Houston now has 3 first round picks and a pretty decent roster already. It would be highly unlikely that they could play 3 rookies anyway.
Without knowing who is going to be on the team tomorrow night it's tough to make a pick. In the TSO draft the Orlando Magic are going to draft...... Terrence Jones from the University of Kentucky. He brings versatility, rebounding, and shot blocking skills to a team that still doesn't have a coach.
With the 20th pick in the TSO mock draft, the Denver Nuggets are going to draft He brings Size, Defense and height which we really need. A big reason we lost to LA in the 1st round was because we had no big men who could hold it down in the pain and Bynum and Gasol just shredded us apart. Being 7'0 was a reason I like this pick and he is a great defender.
