Sorry about that guys. Literally as soon as I posted that, my internet started acting up for the whole day . But yeah, I would've gone with Sully. I think Josh Smith does belong at the 3. My question is, how has Marvin Williams survived on the Hawks so long?
With the 28th pick the OKC Thunder select... Andrew Nicholson (St. Bonaventure) - PF Its plain and simple, the Thunder need someone who can score down low. Nicholson is efficient in the paint and has a decent set of post moves. He needs to continue to bulk up to be able to handle himself down in the paint, but still knows how to find ways to score. His motor has been questioned in the past, but playing for a team that is easily the favorite out West could light that fire under his behind.
The Bulls actually have some needs going into this pick, and the biggest one in my opinion is the need for a scorer. Not necessarily a sniper from outside, but a guy who can create his own shot. PLUS, with Derrick Rose going down so late, it makes a combo guard more attractive than a, say, SF. However, there are a lot of rumors going around as to who the Bulls will trade. There are reports that Luol Deng can be traded, and that there is interest in Tyreke Evans. Also, there are rumors that the Bulls could be interested in signing PG Jason Kidd, as WELL as a player attempting a comeback, SG Brandon Roy. With that being said, with the 29th pick in the NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls select: Quincy Miller, F, Baylor Bears Pros: The best thing going for Miller right now is that he has a TON of upside. He also has size and length very comparable to Kevin Durant (7'3 wingspan). He seems to have good footwork and mobility, even though he's still recovering from ACL surgery. Can create his own shot and is a good jumpshooter. Can also handle the ball well, as well as get open off of screens. Tough player. He's also from Chicago, which I'm sure Bulls fans would love. Cons: Probably the biggest one is that ACL. It remains to be seen how much he can recover from the surgery, and whether or not he can regain the speed and explosiveness he once had. Needs to add some muscle. He gets almost no elevation on his jump shot (which could be an effect of the ACL injury) and has a low release as well. Remains to be seen whether or not he's a consistent outside shooter, and was generally inconsistent period at Baylor. Also didn't get to the line much. Outlook: This pick is based on potential, as I think FA vets will make more of an impact now. His length, size, and potential is simply too good to pass up at this point. If he can tap his potential, and more importantly recover and get stronger, he could be the player the Bulls need on the wing to pair up with Derrick rose in the future.
I won't be home to really look at this and research a pick until probably right around the time the draft gets going. Feel free to pick for me.
We are stuck with Carlos for at least another season, I am thinking they might amnesty him after next season.
Yeah, he'd be a good pick. Only reason I went with Miller is because he's so talented and if he taps into his potential, he'd be one of the few players that could matchup with a guy like KD, based on his size and length. Yeah, no one's gonna take that contract. And we can't amnesty him because there's no one to replace him in FA right now. Plus, we'd be better served to wait until Nikola Mirotic comes over so we could slide either him or Taj Gibson into the starting role.
Yeah, I know. Wishful thinking on my part. TBH, I was happy when we first got him. I was thinking that we would be getting a guy that could give us 18 and 8 every night. Which he did for the most part; and then the playoffs came and he went awol. I'm still not fond of trading Deng if it does happen but with this being such a deep draft, this is the year to do it. And if they can sign Brandon Roy, even at 60% of his former self, I would take that.
I admittedly hate the Seminoles but I hope this guy has a very good career. Watching him get drafted was very cool; to hear his story and to hear the USA chants.
