Tulsa Golden Hurricane - NCAA 10 4th Horseman Dynasty Thread

I am honored to have been accepted in as a replacement to THE 4TH HORSEMAN and will be attaining control of the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane as a replacement, this is my second running dynasty in addition to my TRIFECTA Duke Blue Devils one. ALL rules/guidlines/principles will be followed in FULL. I tend to get a bit in depth and creative when it comes to these things (acquired from Helli and FieldingBlue [from NCAAstrategies] methinks...) as I think that this is just as fun of a part of the game as playing and competing is. Throughout the thread you will undoubtedly see the use of AViD Dynasty manager (www.avidmanager.com/) MANY thanks and big props to Mandible for that, it really is a pretty dang neat tool.

All in all, I hope those that read get a kick out of it, should be interesting because there are undoubtedly going to be LOTS of bruises along the way in this one!

    Tulsa Begins To Move On
Jimmie Miles Named Successor to Deceased Jacques Madere

Tulsa, OK (AP) - The past week has been nothing but traumatic and shocking for the entire University of Tulsa family as well as the surrounding community after the news spread of the brutal murder of first year Head Coach Jacques Madere in his Tulsa home. Now, however, it appears that the Tulsa family is finally ready to try and move on as the Hurricane (1-2) will now be led by a local high school coach in Jimmie Miles. It was reported at yesterday's press conference that Miles has been the Offensive and Defensive line coach at his previous job and was one of the few willing to step in and take the team after the traumatic events of recent.

The university has been criticized for not simply going in an interim route for the rest of the 2009-2010 season but a university spokesman explained, "We feel that these young men need a sense of security in the future of their education and athletic futures at our University. Simply going the interim route will not do that for the current players as well current recruits. We fully understand that such a move as this will be very difficult in the immediate future but feel it will pay extreme dividends in the future by going with a native born Oklahoman such as Coach Miles. The community will be hard pressed to ever forget about Coach Madere, but this is a step in the direction of healing."

Also at the press conference Coach Miles spoke not only on remembering Coach Madere, but also on the plan for the immediate and the future. "It is with mixed emotions that I accepted this post", stated Miles, "One part is thrilled to represent an in-state school such as Tulsa, the other takes the way it happened with a very heavy heart. My condolences go out to the entire Madere family in this time of pain and sorrow but we will make sure there is something positive taken out of this situation." When questioned on strategy Miles told us, "The immediate strategy is a change in gameplan, I run the I-Formation so it should not be that difficult to learn in such a short time, that is a major plus as I do know the fleXbox One but adamantly feel it just does not fit our personnel. The biggest task at hand though will be re-structuring our recruiting needs and reaching out to those that are still interested in the University at this time. I'm an Oklahoma boy andf believe firmly in Oklahoma athletes first and formeost, few people realize the talent we have here in our state, hell Oklahoma started/played 19 Okies in their 2000 national championship season. It will be a tough road to hoe, but I vow to do it, we will not let the Tulsa community nor Coach Madere's memory down."

Things look to get interesting in a hurry as Tulsa (1-2) will square off against its 1AA opponent on only one weeks practice in the new playbook and schemes.

Let 'er rip if you want. Feedback is always welcome in these things. I really am thankful for the shot here in the 4TH HORSEMAN. I should have all of my AViD stuff up tonight and hopefully the 1AA game as well.

    A Quality Debut
Miles and 'Cane Rout 1AA Midwest 52-6

Tulsa, OK (AP) - "I really don't want anyone to read to much into this," said a surprisingly serious Coach Miles after his Golden Hurricane (2-2) dismantled 1AA Midwest on Saturday, "Not to sound like a complete hard-ass there were lots of mistakes, and this was a 1AA school! No, it wasn't bad with only a week in this offense but next week it gets really and we are going to truly have to keep learning and progressing to keep this thing going." Though he may have come off a but macabre, it really was a solid performance by the Hurricane as they were but one busted play from a shutout of 1AA Midwest.

Rushing was the name of the game as the 'Cane racked up an impressive 418 rushing yards and put three running backs (Peoples, Clay, Beaver) over the century mark on the day. Outside of the running attack however things got scary as the Hurricane tried all three of the quarterbacks on their active roster and it looks as if there are still questions within about who is going to be the go to guy. Many insiders believe the RS Junior quarterback Bower should get the nod but the community is screaming for the freshman Beaver to get the nod as he has had some nice plays while he led the 'Cane to a 1-2 record while they were still in the FleXbox One. On the subject Coach Miles told the press that "Its an open game still, next week all three will likely get a shot against Rice, after next week there will be a definite starter." Back on the subject of the 'Cane rushing attack the Rice game will mark the return of impact runningback Jamad Williams but we have been informed that the freshman upstart Peoples will start the game next week but we should definitely expect to see Williams at some point.

Defensively the 'Cane played well enough against an inferior offense but they still managed to surrender 187 passing yards despite holding the Dragons to negative rushing yards. "If we play pass defense like that against our conference opponents we'll get toasted and it'll get ugly in a hurry, our defense really concerns me right now" said Miles after the game. Concern would indeed be a good way to put it as the Hurricane are hurting for a pass rush and if they don't find one the rest of the conference schedule could get ugly in a hurry.

Up next will be a rivalry and Conference USA game against an up and down Rice team. This looks to be a BIG game that could set the tone for what the future of each of these teams will be. This could get interesting!

This looks awesome man...seriously, this is exactly what I am asking of everyone. Maybe not to go into this type of detail, but half as detailed would still be great!

I might steal your set up in the future, feel free to check mine out, I always add in pictures + videos, but we are unable to save for some F'n reason!

Great job...I'm more than happy to have you in the dynasty bro. GL.

Thanks Murk, its just the way I do things (Helli rubbed off WAY too much lol). To me the posting of the dynasty is almost more fun than actually playing.

I saved pics and a highlight or two from this one but I couldn't upload them the the EA website so I could nab them, what the hell?

Thanks S.O., sucks it didn't work out for you but I'm thrilled to have Tulsa now :p

Although you have left me with a helluva QB controversy!

Hey, its not all just AViD, although I don't know how I cut off the hyperlink on this one (**edit** fixed that **edit**). AViD is a nice half of the battle though since I used to either have to enter my stats into code myself or use one of my excel templates and save it as an image. AViD makes things pretty and after the initial setup its easy. I love the fact that in five seasons I'll still be able to see my stats from season one.

I agree man. Just wish I had more time to do this stuff in front of my 360 so I had all the stats there with me instead of having to take even more time writing it all down on paper.

I know man. I really need to get into using Avid as well. Makes things much easier to transfer stuff around and you are absolutely right. Being able to see stats for long ago is GREAT.

    Rivalry Smackdown
Miles and 'Cane Win 'Williams Cup' 33-10 Over Rice

Tulsa, OK (AP) - "I'm pleased with our performance for the most-part, the only thing is still our passing game but I think going with Kinne is and will be the right move for everyone, its just going to take a couple for him to settle in," said Coach Miles after the game. He is definitely right when it comes to the anemic passing attack that the Hurricane have had through the year so far as they have had to be incredibly one dimensional because of it. Against Rice they did manage to hit the 200 passing yard mark for the first time this season though, slow progress is better than no progress.

Running the ball has been another beast entirely because since Miles stepped foot on campus after week 3 the Hurricane rushing attack has yet to be stopped, it has only been contained. A big part of this was the coming on of Freshman upstart Tony Peoples, the trend looked like it was going to continue untill he went down at the end of a 44 yard trot against the Rice defense, to that point in the day though he was 6 carries for 72 yards. "Tony (Peoples) is out 2 more weeks with a mild concussion, we're simply taking all the necessary precautions right now," said Miles in his injury statement, "We're blessed though that we did just get JR runningback Jamad Williams back and he had a salty 16 carry 67 yard day for us."

Defensively the Hurricane did what they must to win including holding rival Rice to 4/13 on 3rd down and 0/4 on 4th down, 2 of which came very literally on the 1 yard line. The play of the defense against the run this year has been wonderful yet the pass still seems to give them fits as the safety positions are very questionable and under the constant scrutiny of Coach Miles who is rumored to be recruiting that position very heavily.

Up next for the Hurricane is a bye week followed by a match up with #5 Boise State (4-0) in which the Hurricane will have to play perfect to really even have any resemblance of a legitimate chance.

'Cane Get Taste of Boise Out of Their Mouth - Punish UTEP 42-3

Tulsa, OK (AP) - Before the game you got sense that it all just might click, and by looking at they players on the field, you could tell that UTEP was simply outmatched. Tulsa (4-3) hammered UTEP (1-6) from the start and never really let up, in fact, if not for a blown coverage UTEP would have been blanked.

"I'm definitely happy," said Miles after the game, "I think we're finally getting to be a lot more cohesive as a team, we're all getting on the same page. It helps that we've finally had someone step up and want the quarterback spot in G.J. Kinne." Indeed it looks as if the 'Cane are answering alot of questions as Kinne went for a season and career high 17/26 for 335 yards with 4 touchdowns and only 1 interception. The ground game also got back to normal as Tony Peoples returned from his concussion suffered in the Rice game and managed 109 yards on 22 carries, the bruising fullback Clay continued his tear with 10 carries for 44 yards and 2 bug touchdowns.

Defensively the Hurricane did everything they needed to do as they managed to hold UTEP to only 3 points on the day. UTEP also only managed to muster 227 total yards of offense which came from a mere 40 on the ground and 187 in the air. "We're getting there as a unit, we showed against Boise we were better and I think we did the same today. If our defense keeps coming around I thin we can get to that magic 7 win mark since 6 won't get us to a bowl with the 1AA team on our schedule," stated Miles.

The defense will have to keep getting better as up next for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane is a firey and surprising SMU (5-3) squad that is looking to punch their bowl ticket with a sixth win.
