    Twins agree.

I can't believe I'm trading a reigning Rookie of the Year, but my starting rotation needs a kickstart and Augusto Martinez might just need a change of scenery.

Inter-divisional trading = BLASPHEMY. I'm not on any trade committee, but this one smells heavily one-sided.

You had me in the beginning with your first sentence, but unfortunately you kept writing. I don't like trading within the division either, but I had some things I need to accomplish to keep my team together and stay competitive.

But one sided? For which side?

Chicago is getting a stud outfielder and reigning Rookie of the Year. He's pretty much guaranteed to be a productive, high OPS outfielder for him. I'm very disappointed to have traded him away. In addition, they're getting a high-power first baseman who will presumably help them sooner than later, whereas he was blocked in Minny.

For me, I'm taking a huge chance here. Ratings-wise, AMartinez is simply one of the best arms in The Dugout, but has had little if any success at the major league level, and what's worse, he was brought up too early so it wasted a couple of years of his team control. But he's also one of the few young potential aces that's available out there and I need someone who can pair with Berde Lauritzen atop my rotation. RMartinez is a solid, decent contact hitter that can help take some of the sting out of losing Lawson. And I get the Corey Hart albatross contract off my books, which will give me some short-term payroll flexability.

We didn't all inherit a championship caliber team, so Chicago and I are both trying to do what we can and, ironically, found a match in each other. I hope it works out for both of us, though obviously I hope it works out better for me...
