Orlando, FL - The University of Central Florida Golden Knights opened the season with a big win over the FCS East Cobras. The final score being 55-21 but 14 of the Cobras 21 points coming in the 3rd and 4th when the UCF Knights pulled their big dogs out and put in the younger players. The younger team had a big day, they raked in a couple of scores mainly with the running game.

The UCF Defense was hawking the skies and crushing the dirt as they rocked the house, keeping they dominated the playing field during the first three quarters. After the game a comment by Coach NatiSaint said that "This team has high hopes, if we can minimize errors, you might see us taking hold of the league... catching a few people off guard. no doubt."

Check back with us as we continue to follow the UCF program throughout the season.

Knights don't look so Golden, Outshined by Eagles.

The Knights traveled to the home of the Golden Eagles. The game was a very defensive battle, going back and forth on more than one occasion. The Knights looked to take this one with ease after making the Eagles fumble on the very first possession but were denied a touchdown, and only going up by 3.

From here it was back and forth action. However, The big story isn't the defense. Coach Saint was quoted saying "If our recievers did their jobs it would have been a different story. Don't get me started... but you can rest assured that this week - Recievers are running hands drills all week. There better not be another performance like that next week."

It's really quite clear that the hands seem to be the issue. Recievers failing to catch passes, and DBs dropping picks... It was a very "bronze" day for the Golden Knights.

Orlando, FL - The Knights are riding high after their return from the lonestar state. Many people are saying that this was one of the the biggest upsets of the season as the Knights knocked down the #7 Texas Longhorns in a game they dominated throughout. The score shows the whole story.

The knights battled to an early 3 point lead, but soon took a 3-7 downfall. That was where it stopped as Knights then went on a scoring dash. Taking the lead 12-7 quickly, after failing on a 2 point conversion. Then scoring on a deep bomb when the Longhorns sent their entire team ( and half the crowd ) in on a blitz. 74 Yard bomb and the deal sealer as they then began to run the clock.

The Golden Knights are getting fired up - but it may be just a little too late for anything to come this season. Hopefully they can right the golden wave into next season, but only time will tell...

Orlando, FL - The UCF Golden Knights once again pull the upset as they knock off Houston. In a game that looked to be decided, and restarted three times due to weather, the Knights managed to pull it out.

With less than a minute left, the Knights had the ball down by 4, that was when a blown coverage gave the Knights a wide open Aiken who scored the game winning Touchdown.

As if that wasn't painful enough, Houston had 5 seconds left on the clock in Field Goal range but elected to go for it, it would have been a long field goal. One WR, alone in the endzone, but one second hesitation brought about the sack that sealed the deal.

All in all, It was an incredible game - and either way it went someone was going to be sitting at home heartbroken.

    Great Game Houston... Go Knights!

    Orlando, FL -

The UCF Knights BLAZED the Blazers of UAB after losing by a short margin to the Houston Cougars. Weatherford had to prove his worth to the team, and did a great job going 16-21 with 232 yards passing and a touchdown, but the real story was Hungry Harvey who ran 34 times for 146 yards and 4 touchdowns.

The Golden Knights released some frustration against the Blazers, running a very aggressive style of play from beginning to end. They would not lose another, and need to shake the loss to Houston from their heads. A score of 59-17 pleased the Golden Knight Faithful but it will really be determined by the next few games of the season, as seasons end approaches....

UCF released their first list of commitments for the second season of Fourth Horseman Football.

The needs of the UCF Knights were simple going into the 2nd season of TIV. They needed a Center and a Fullback on offense, and a DT and SS on defense. They needs definitely out weight the wants in college football but the wants were non-surpassable as the Knights look at who they are really going to be losing come end of a very lack-luster season.

There are talks of Rob Calabrese not sticking around, but with the injury he sustained keeping him out much of his Junior season - the Knights expect him to return, but also know that they could also potentially lose his replacement in Joe Weatherford. A Quarterback is definitely going to be a need next season if not filled this season in the recruitment process.

The Halfback position is very close knit, and the Knights expect both backs to return for their senior season, so a HB may also be on the need list in the coming season.

Fullback is a position of Need, Ricky Kay went down earlier in the season with injury and will likely not receive a medical redshirt - this is his last season with the Knighs and replacement Brendan Kelly has left alot to be desired.

The knights lose THREE senior WR's at the end of the season, the three starters if it could get any worst. They have a solid crew backing them but the team lacks a go-to receiver, the WR position may be a position of want at this point as they look for a HS standout.

The line, except for Center, seem to be matured next season but each has a worthy back-up and seems to be a place that is often ignored, and may continue be ignored next season as not much need is there.

The defensive line is a place that seniority was key this year, and the Knights have been looking to fill some holes that will be left with the departure of their defensive line - Keep your eyes open for changes here.

Linebackers couldn't be any younger if they wanted too, but the Knights still look for that standout player. This realm is a position of want, as need is not there at this moment, losing only a few potential starters.

Secondary is also very young, but lacking a standout - This could also be some of the positions that stay the same but may also change as the Golden Knights look to upgrade here.

With that cleared and out of the way, The Knights have already filled a few potential voids in their team that will be left next season. Let's investigate the new Golden Knights that will begin their season anew next year.

First up is Middle Linebacker, Terrance Mitchell (4 Star, Balanced) of Gladeview, FL. The Knights really liked Tackling ability and speed coming out of the MLB spot. They anticipate him to get some snaps but may wait for his maturity to start.... Then again - He could always start right away.

Next is Isaac Ramsey (4 star, Athlete) also of Gladeview, FL. The Knights haven't found an exact home for the 5'11'', 204lb kid from Florida, but look to impliment him on the offensive side of the ball, if not at corner or deep back.

Jason Workman, The Outside Linebacker (2 star, Run Stopper) , of Boaz, AL. With his nice speed and hit power. He looks to bring alot to the table in terms of delivering the thunder to the opposition. The Knights can't wait to see what this kid can do at the next level. Rumor has it they are trying to get him bigger!

Balanced Wideout, Rory Payne of Knoxville, TN (2 star, Balanced) has nice speed coming off the cut and nice height to boot. He had some poor tendancies with route running and tended to have butterfingers but the Knights hope to fix that in the off-season and make him a threat to deal with.

Lake Wales, FL Native Jason Cummings coming out at the CB position (3 star, Balanced) seems to be just what the doctor ordered. In his high school years he had great speed and was in on just about every tackle. His man and Zone coverage is superb but his agility, acceleration, and pursuit is what peaked the interest of the team. Look for him to possibly make a statement in the return game next season.

Winning the distance award is Damien Potts of Lake Shore, MD (4 star, accurate punter). With great Kick Accuracy, the Knights will have him starting next season and look to bring havoc to the starting field positions of the opposition.

The last commitment of this week 14 wrap up is Nick Goolsby from Naples,Fl. Being an athlete (4 star) he played HB and CB in high school. His break tackle and Speed brought alot to the table, but his man and zone coverages is where he made himself known. The knights are unsure if they will keep him on offense or defense but will likely have him on the special team squad bringing the thunder!

That is all for this addition of "Beneath the Armour" with Central Florida and their Golden Knights. As the season is winding to a close - we can only wonder what the Knights will add to this set up in the off season.

**** Breaking News from the Front Offices of UCF ****

It would appear as if Ryan Cross, SS out of Haleyville, AL (3 star) has committed over the by week. Cross is going to be ready to bring the thunder this next season as he competes for a starting role.

Also, on a daytime decision Steve McDowell (3 star) CB our of Carrollwood, FL signed today. With his good coverages, good speed, and jumping. He will also look to impact the Knights on his first year.

The race for starting roles is already looking to be a hot one!

    UCF Season 2011-2012 Preview

    2011 - 2012 Golden Knights Preview

    Orlando, FL -

Following a very Lack-Luster season in Orlando, The Knights have made a few changes to their program. Coach Saint was quoted saying "We were very predictable on Offense last year ranking VERY low in production. This season we have a new offensive playbook to start."

That lone breathes life into the Golden Knight faithful, but what other changes has the program made? The most notable change was the redshirting of Senior Stud Quarterback Rob Calabrese. This is a gutsy call, but coming back a little early last year from an ankle injury the coaching staff just didn't feel that he was all the way back to par just yet. That being said, They hope that this will not inhibit his return to the team next year but look at Senior Backups to pave the way. Leading the helm is backup turned started Joe Weatherford. His is nearly an exact copy of his counterpart, only he is already in his 5th year with the Knights. Should this gutsy move work out, The Knights will hopefully be set next season as well.

Moving on down the line, The Knights are also very excited about the addition of a few components to their offensive scheme. The loss of Brynn Harvey hurt, but Richard Samuel looks to take the running back spot (junior) and take it with force. The Knights are extremely excited about his vision and breakaway speed. Senior Latavius Murray decided to help the team out, and move to WR instead of Halfback to help spread the offense out a bit more. Adding him, and freshman hopeful Grant Pittman, along with Eddie Jolly. The knights receiving core seems to have gained a step... and hopes that Phil Cooper and Jamar Newsome can lead this team with maturity.

Middle Linebacker Terrance Mitchell will get the start in his 1st year with the program and Knights expect great things coming from him. Along side 2nd year freshman Mike Rice (LOLB) and Junior sensation Jonathan Davis, This linebacker crew is young but packs a punch.

The secondary brings new meaning to the word youth. The only upperclassmen is returning CB Darin Baldwin who had a SENSATIONAL past two seasons. On his DB crew is Junior All-American Josh Robinson, Sophomore Corey Ammons, and two true Freshman in Nick Goolsby and Isaac Ramsey. Senior Vance King and Junior Jarrett Swaby look to hawk the skies from the safety position. We mentioned youth because other than those upperclassmen - the remaining backups are all freshman.

Corey Ammons and Latavius Murray will return kicks for the knights starting out, but expect this to change dependant upon need.

The knights are expecting a big season this year, and hope to build upon some of the foundational blocks they created in the past. Feeling the fresh wounds of defeat from last season - The Knights are ready for War... the question is, Are the members of the C-USA READY FOR THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS!?!

    2011 Season Preview

Orlando, FL - With all of the commotion around the league with coaches leaving, One this is for sure - Coach NatiSaint is staying right here in Orlando. Following a press conference where he claimed that he would stay atleast one more year with the Knights, but not to rule out a return following what he claims may be a "National Championship Season".

National Champions huh? Let's take a look at position for position what we are losing, gaining, and weigh out the possibility of such a high regard....

To start, Josh Robinson (CB) was talking to scouts, but after a sit down conversation with Coach Saint he looks to be staying around for this next season at least. It's great to see a youngster value their education.

This years graduating class does pack a pretty serious punch, in same cases it appears to almost be cutting the legs right out from under the Knights, but Saint seems to have alot of faith in his youngsters. At the top of the graduating class is Record Breaking QB Joe Weatherford, backup turned starter. The good news is, Rob Calabrese was redshirted medically and will return giving hope for one more year.

Darin Baldwin the all-american corner also graduates, joining defensive graduates FS Vance King, DE Darius Nall.

The Offense seems to be taking most of the hit as they lose backup HB Ronnie Weaver, an array of offensive lineman (including starters and backups), #1 WR Jamar Newsome, HB turned WR Latavius Murray, TE John Lubischer, Kicker Nick Cattoi... Seems like the younger guys will have to pick up the offense.

So with all the graduates, Who do the Knights still have and who did they sign?

As previously mentioned, the offense will be led by (RS)Senior Rob Calabrese at Quarterback. His injuries are all healed up and he is ready to break Weatherfords records that were set in the previous season.

At Halfback, Injured Starter Richard Samuel will return for his senior year and Zach Griffin will loook to back him up once more. **They also have signed JUCO Raishaun Christian. He may get redshirted for one year or may fill the backup role. His role with the team is uncertain at this point.**

The Wide Receiver role will prove to be the most competitive. With the signing of WR Mike Berg who possesses breakaway speed that is really second to none on the team, he will likely take the first or second position if he can prove himself during camp. The other position may be filled by 2nd year player Grant Pittman who is coming off of a hot All-American season. With Rob Calabrese at the helm the Knights could really rely on a pitch and catch style offense with these playmakers.

Freshman signee John Christensen and Senior DJ Brown will be splitting play time, Christensen has size and speed over his counterpart but camp will ultimately determine the playtime.

The Defense is really up for grabs at this point as they want to see how the recruiting process plays out, the team has a few needs but has ALOT of returning players on the defensive side, so expect the Knights to continue bringing the thunder on Defense.

Expect more updates prior to the season start!

    Gooooo KNIGHTS!
