Rain always spells disaster...or strange games and plays...this game had some of both..!

First half was a bunch of D for both sides, neither O could get much going an early bomb by Cal would set up a FG and a 3-0 lead. Then Jr FS Beverely moved to SS for the game due to an injury would step in front of a pass and set the Bruins O up with a 35 yard field.

The O would take advantage and pound in a short TD run to take a 7-3 lead. Then more D from both teams but towards the end of the first half UCLA put a decent drive together but a sack would force them into a long FG try. The kicker smashed it through and things were looking up for the Bruins with a 10-3 lead and the second half kickoff coming our way.

Second half starts and we do what we tend to do and thats fumble on the first play of the second half setting the Cal O up with a 25 yard field, they took advantage with a TD off the right side that had some great blocking and we are tied up.

UCLA answered quickly and QB Cook found Soph WR Collins all alone down the left sideline for a 76 yard score. Cal would answer with a very quick drive big plays eating up tons of ground but stalled out and had to settle for a FG.

The KO would be returned for a TD by Sr WR Lambert who took it back 101 yards to put us up 24-13. Cal would move the ball quickly down the field and score a td to move within 24-19, the two point attempt failed. The KO would again be returned by Lambert for a td and a back breaking td as Fosh would send me a message that simply read FO...I wrote back and said FU too, dont kick to him...

With the score 31-19 a late pick by Soph LB Motley would seal the win as UCLA takes a knee at the Cal 1 to kill the clock.

Story of the game was the two kick returns, I havent even had one in several seasons...two is unheard of. Then the big play to Collins, the O really only produced one TD drive and two fg drives.

Josh hit us with a bomb and two FG drive and one just get outta our way march for a td..

Rain has a way of making games weird and this one was no exception..

POG was Lambert who finally shows up big in a big game...

TOs were three to two...Three picks for Cal and a pick n fumble for the Bruins.

Our RBs lack explosion and the lack of acc really shows with a D like Cals and all that speed.

Cal held the ball for much of the game due to our quick scores so we didnt put up huge offensive #s but neither did the Bears.

GG Josh, UCLA wins 31-19 in a down pour..
