Athens Ga.-- The Bulldogs welcome #11 Maryland to Athens today in a battle for respect. Coach Legend was still looking for respect from his peers even after a surprising season last year to start out his career in Maryland. Coach Colemanchu had yet to prove himself head to head against the other coaches within the league and knew he needed to step it up to get a W.

Both teams came out sparring in the first quarter leading to a 3-3 tie going into the second. The game remained back and forth until late in the half when Georgia flexed their muscle on special teams.

The Terps coach tried rallied his troops on the sideline, and tight end R Woods was listening. Woods would waste no time in taking a D OBrien pass and shake a tackler to break away for the answer only 13 seconds later.

The Georgia offense didnt get great results early in the game but they were very confident in what they had seen so far in their offense. With only a minute remaining in the half coach Colemanchu let off the reigns some and let his stud quarterback Mettenberger go to work. After an incomplete on first down, Mettenberger found the best receiver in the SEC Marlon Brown streaking down the sideline in single coverage for a 65 yard touchdown grab giving Georgia a 20-10 halftime lead.

After watching the teams play in the first half the Georgia staff knew that they had their opponent outmanned. Coach Legend was making great reads and hitting the open guys, but his receivers dropped 8 balls all game and their offense couldn't catch a rythm. The Bulldogs used their talent to outrun and out muscle their opponent on defense while the offense played keep away turning the ball over zero times on the day. The Terps did fight to within 7 late in the third with the ball but the Dawgs rush forced Marylands quarterback outside where sophmore SS DJ Ray clean up shop. Defensive end J Longo picked up the ball and waltzed into the end zone to virtually seal the game with a minute left in the 3rd quarter.

Offensive Key: Need to get better in those short yardage situations.

Defensive Key: Keep flying to the ball and bring the game to the opponent.

Great game cole. I just couldn't get my offense in a rythm with all those drops. The drops definitely killed me.

Columbia, SC.-- The Dawgs dodge an upset against rival South Carolina. The Georgia defense struggled all game long stopping the Gamecocks passing game. The offense was again lead by junior quarterback Zack Mettenberger as he needed to be huge in this comeback victory. The defense would finally show up in the final two minutes, scoring the game sealing touchdown.

They would then turn around and give up a late td to make the score close.

Offensive Key: Need to get better in those short yardage situations.

Defensive Key: May need to make some changes in the secondary.

Lexington, KY.-- This game was never close as Georgia and junior qquarterback Zack Mettenberger came out firing on all cylinders. Mettenberger would only play one half but it was more than enough to allow the Dawgs to ease their way to victory in the second half. Sophmore receiver DJ Cox made big plays throughout including this long touchdown catch.

Although they didnt need it Georgia also had luck on their side here as Marlon Brown picked up a Cox fumble and returned it all the way for six.

Aaron Murray came into the game in the second half and on his only possesion with the first team offense he hooked up with Marlon Brown for Murray's first career touchdown pass.

Offensive Key: Need to see more from the second unit.

Defensive Key: The backups are playing well enough to be starters.....

Athens, GA.-- Junior quarterback Zack Mettenberger threw an interception immediately on the first play of the game giving the Utes the ball deep inside Georgia territory. The defense would hold Utah to a field goal though and shut them out the rest of the way. The Bulldawgs had no problem stopping Utahs shotgun running game and were surprised to not see them maked more adjustments throughout the game.
Senior receiver Marlon Brown had a great game making 8 catches for 143 yards including these 2 touchdown grabs.

Athens Ga.-- The #9 Tennesse Volunteers came town with hopes of stealing a win and keeping their slight hopes of a division championship a reality. The #8 Georgia Bulldogs would out perform the Vols though setting up a game against Florida for the division championship.

Things started out slow for both teams and Georgia would lead 3-0 at the end of the first quarter. After another Dawgs field goal, Tennessee all american Bryce Brown would end the Vols struggles taking the ball 33 yards to give them a 7-6 lead.

It only took junior quarterback and his offense two minutes to respond as Richard Samuel took a handoff up the gut nine yards to regain the lead at 13-7.

Mettenberger added a touchdown run of his own making the score 20-10 at the half with Georgia leading the way. The Bulldogs would start to grind away at the Tennesse defense in the second half trying to protect their lead. Marlon Brown proved that he's not just the deep threat that most teams herald, but he can also make big catches in traffic to move the chains. Brown combined with running backs Samuel and Dontavius Jackson controlled the clock and the game giving Georgia a 26-20 lead with a minute left. The staff called heavily on its defense to make a play and they did not dissapoint. Vols quarterback Rivas had little chance to get a pass off against the blitz and senior cornerback Commings intercepted a floater to seal the game.
