UGA Game Summaries
Georgia Bulldogs Game Summaries
University of Georgia Bulldogs at University of South Carolina Gamecocks
The game started off slow, with both trams exchanging a possession. Then, South Carolina started to get some momentum. While in FG range, SR MLB Shawn Ellis forced a fumble that was recovered by RS-SO MLB Todd Hill. With momentum on our side, we would march down the field and score on a rushing touchdown from RS-SR RB Carlton Thomas.
Thomas would go on to rush for 2 more TDs in the first half. However, our defense would not share that level of success. Giving up 14 points in the second half, including a 91-yd TD pass, we would only be up by 7 at half with the score being 21-7 UGA. We also received a huge blow to our offense in the first half. Star SR WR Marlon Brown would suffer from a PCL strain that would keep him out of the rest of the game.
We exchanged scores a couple more times, ours coming off of a huge 68-yard touchdown catch from RS-SO WR Clay Carpenter (the man who replaced Brown in this game) in which Carpenter broke two tackles immediately after he caught the ball, then galloped to the endzone.
With 0:22 left in the 3rd Q and South Carolina inside our own 20, RS-SR FS Bacarri Rambo forced a fumble after a 10-yard completion that was recovered again by MLB Todd Hall.
We would go on to run out the rest of the clock and preserve the win.

We made this game a lot harder on ourselves than we needed to. Our offense played great, expect for the stalling of drives. We need to work on our consistency on that side of the ball. I really liked how Carpenter stepped up when Brown went down. Considering he is only a soph, he could be a force to reckon with in the coming years.
The defense was very opportunistic, taking advantage whenever we saw a chance. That aggressiveness led to several huge plays being given up, telling me that I have to get my safeties in better spots.
The Dawgs bite the Cats
In a SEC game, the #10 ranked Georgia Bulldogs battled the undefeated (3-0) University of Kentucky Wildcats.
The Dawgs started off the game with a bang, scoring 4 TD in the first quarter, including a 49 yard strike from backup QB Aaron Murray (who came in after a small injury to starting QB Zach Mettenberger) to TE Orson Charles. Another one of the first 4 TDs came from a quick pass taken a long way. Kentucky blitzed their CBs and Mettenberger found star WR Marlon Brown on a quick out. Brown would break a tackle before taking the ball 64 yards for a TD.
Disaster would strike for the Bulldogs, though, as Marlon Brown would be hurt in the early 2nd Q. An abdominal tear will keep him out of action for at least 5 weeks.
The second quarter would again be dominated by the Bulldogs, scoring 24 points, including a defensive TD, a interception return for a TS by MLB Shawn Ellis.
Half- 52-7 UGA
The rest of the game would be filled with runs and chew clock.

We played a solid game against an undefeated team. We didn't just win the game either, we dominated them. There are still plenty of things we can work on, though. For one, we allowed Kentucky to drive down on us and score easily in the first quarter. Playing like that against a team like Florida could end badly.
Also, losing Marlon Brown is a tremendous setback. He was not only our star WR, but an excellent kick returner. Clay Carpenter has stepped up well this year so far when Brown has gone down, so we will look to him to help with the loss of production.
