Wow! This did not look good in the first 3 minutes of the game. BSU jumped out to an early 14-0 lead. First was a somewhat methodical drive down the field capped by a 5 yard TD pass from QB - K. Moore to TE - K. Efaw. The next drive started with a nice punt return into Georgai territory and then followed quickly by a 39 yard scamper by HB - Doug Martin.

The dawgs began their scoring on the following drive with some short passing by QB - A. Murray, which was finished off with a 9 yard strike to WR - T. King. The D then buckled down and held BSU and forced a punt. On the pursuing drive freshman RB - I. Crowell was hurt and had to be replace by RS Freshman Boo Malcome. Boo dove in from 1 yard out to even the score at 14.

Next possession the transfer from Southern Cal J. Jones picked off a pass and took it to the house with on a minute and a half remaining in the second quarter. After the KO BSU went on the attack trying to get a late core in the half but doing so used no clock and was forced to punt. The dawgs added another quick TD on a 15 yard pass to TE - O. Charles.

The dawgs were in contol shortly after half-time by adding two scores early in the 3rd and putting the game out of reach.

    K. Moore was held to 169 yards passing with 1 TD and 3 Int's.

    Player of the Game: A. Murray 413 yards, 4 TD's, and 2 Int's.
    Honorable mention: O. Charles 8 catches 210 yard and 2 TD's

Next up for the dawgs is the defending and pre-season SEC Champs South Carolina.

UGA was able to take the opening kickoff and drive 75 yards for the opening score onn A. Murray pass R. Wooten from 10 yards out. After about 10 minutes of back and forth punting with an interception mixed in it came down to two minutes left in the half before the next points were scored.

With just over two minutes in the half the Dawgs were looking to milk the clock and come score with little time left. However, there became an opportunity to audible out of a run and hit a streaking O. Charles for a 43 yard TD. Dawgs take a 14-0 lead. One play after the kickoff, it appeared Miss. St. was trying to get back in the game quickly and ended up forcing a pass which was picked off by J. Jones. A few plays later and with only 8 seconds left freshman RB I. Crowell punches it in from 1 yard out to stretch the lead to 21-0 at the half.

UGA kicks off to begin the second half but another INT quickly keeps the momentum in the dawgs side. They weren't able to punch it in but did add to their lead with a B. Walsh 31 yard FG. As the second half rolled on UGA went into conservative mode and kept the ball on the ground. The passing game was efficient at 10-14 on the night. The dawgs capped their scoring with 2 minuts left in the 3rd on another run from RB I. Crowell from 4 yards out.

Miss. St. was able to get on the board in the 4th with a FG from Derek D.

    Key performers -

    A. Murray - 10-14 159 yards 2TD's and 1INT
    I. Crowell - 93 yards 2TD's

Defense stepped up big and held V. Ballard of Miss. St. well below his season average.

    UGA - 23
    Ole Miss - 20

This game was within 7 points the whole game. Both teams rolled up 400 yards of offense. The dawgs took the conservative approach a few times on 4th and less than 1 they settled for FG's or punts not wanting to have big MO swing to the Rebles....errr Black Bears.

Key play during regulation came when the dawgs with 2 minutes and at the 50 yard line wanted to get into FG range with little or no time left to win the game. However, Crowell broke off a 50 yard toss down the sideline. This left too much time for Ole Miss to come storming back down the field and tie it up with 16 seconds on a 19 yard pass to their TE.

In the OT period the dawgs won the toss and went on D. Ole miss had a nice opening play for about 9 yards but they failed to get the first down and were actually sacked pushing them just beyond their FG range as the attempt came up short. The dawgs then ran two dive plays and kicked the game winning FG on 3rd down from 35 yards out.

Great game Heli, this should be a good one next season as well.
