Good luck. Lol. They did a ticket lottery for the remainder after the supporters groups and season ticket holders got theirs. And I think they said only half the people in the lottery got tickets. I'm assuming they'll be crazy expensive on Stub Hub too. If you do get them though let me know. I plan on being there the day before as well, so maybe we can have a TSO meet up one of the 2 days. I think AO has a party the day before too so I don't really know what my plans are yet.
I will be there rolling 6 deep from the great state of Texas. Do they sell Shiner Bock or Modelo up in Columbus?
What's the deal with these tickets being so damn expensive? My dad and I went in 2005, same time of year for the qualifier vs Mexico in Crew stadium. We bought them a week or 2 before the game for 110$/pop off ebay. They were 4 rows back right by the tunnel where the players come in and out....? Not sure what all the fuss is this year...I'm hoping these tickets they have for 400-500 a piece don't sell and they lower them a few weeks before kickoff...?
Yeah that's possible too. Part of it is that the demand this year was much higher than its ever been. Also, people might as well toss them out for 400-500 and see if they can get someone to bite this early. Might see them drop over the coming weeks, but I think they'll still be more expensive than past years.
Keep in mind the Crew is still offering USA Mexico tickets when you get a season ticket package through them. From my understanding they did this in 09 also and a few days before the game new tickets became available for the game. Seemingly the Crew put all the tickets they couldn't move through the season ticket promotion back up for sale. They are offering again the same option so I would imagine that when, not if, they don't move all the tickets there should be some available before the game again.
If I understand this correctly, the season ticket plans are a 3 year commitment though. I could be wrong on that, but I think that's what I read somewhere. If that's the case I'd imagine that there will be some left over before the game. Not sure how they plan on selling those though.
I really like that jersey... decided I'd hold off and wait for World Cup jersey, but that centennial one is nice
hedache Considering he has worn 8 on the the USMNT for the last two WC rotations and all of this one I highly doubt he is switching to #2 for the national team. US Soccer would have a whole bunch of Dempsey gear they would have to clear out if this is the case. Link or it isn't true
I just wanted to give you even a split second of "what?". If I was able to, I'm satisfied. If I wasn't, I'm still satisfied
Now if only the AO can't stop having a who's johnson is bigger contest betweent Seattle and Columbus and mail out our tickets I won't be anxious. Less than two weeks to the game and our tickets haven't even been mailed.
This AO stuff is a debacle right now. I tend to side with Columbus but whatever. Seems like AO changed their tune slightly with their official statement today.
I've been hearing about this. WTF is the issue? I know the MLS' new baby is Seattle, and rightfully so because they're packing the stadium, but Columbus has always been great hosts for the Mexico qualifiers, hence why we keep going back there to play. I'm hearing something about coordinating chants and shit? If that's the crux of the issue we just look like complete morons as a fan base.
In a nutshell, at least from my perspective, AO and US Soccer want this game to be more organized as this will have the largest supporter group ever. Columbus says its our hometown and we don't need help. AO and US Soccer think differently. In essence the whole issue is about having guys stand in front of each section with their backs to the game telling the section what to chant or cheer. If people wanna fly or drive in to do that and not watch a majority of the game then be my guest.
The main issue I think is that when the Columbus AO chapter had their conference call with the national group, AO Seattle was on the call. Columbus guys didnt appreciate the fact that the Seattle group was involved without any notice or anything. There is the shit about the capos too, but I think the main thing is that they felt like the national leaders wanted to make the Columbus game a replica of Seattle. The soccer boards I visit have a lot of people involved with AO throughout the country and its a giant clusterfuck there too. Also, AO Seattle leader is sorta douchey. Let me see if I can dig up his tweet.
Yeah I'm sure he is because they are the hot shit right now. Back to my point, if we're bitching about coordinated cheers it makes the entire US fanbase look like fucking morons.
There was an issue of USSF potentially paying for them to fly in as well, but I'm not sure how true that is.
