With TCU returning the opening kickoff, it looked like the route was on. Piling up 24 1st quarter points on 2 BJ Daniels INT's TCU came out hot. However, South Florida did not hit the panic button as the ground game paid dividends and they came out the victors in the end, 42-24. Coach Scarecrow cannot afford a slow start next week against highly touted Coach Hippo and the Golden Gophers.

This game was as close as the score indicated. Minnesota started the game off with a methodical drive that ended with a rushing touchdown from the 1 yard line. South Florida responded the very next drive with a rushing touchdown from Demetris Murray, 1st of 3 TD's. At half it was USF 21, Minn 14. Both teams were defensively dominant in the 3rd quarter but the big play came when Minnesota was threatening to tie the game at 21 apiece when Marqueis Gray threw a pick in the endzone ending the drive. South Florida went on to narrowly win the game 28-21 and preserve their chances at a run for the title. Next week will be a big test with Iowa coming up.

Sigh... This game took me a while to regroup and write up a summary for. Good game EmmDotFrisk, you really made me pay for requesting you on the ol' schedule. Leading 3-0 after 1, I felt like it was going to be a very close game throughout, but boy was I wrong. After Wegher broke a huge run to go up 7-3 it all started downhill for the Bulls. The very next drive resulted in a wounded duck pass into the line where a DE made the pick and six. 14-3. Then the very next drive Murray coughed up the ball and it was returned for six. 21-3 Iowa, just in the blink of an eye. The bulls then became one-dimensional as BJ Daniels and USF had a game to forget from then on out.

Having two weeks off after being blasted by Iowa, South Florida looked flat and almost got beat by unranked Cincinnati. The game started alright for South Florida as they went up 7-0 after the 1st quarter. But then Cincinnati's defense shut down the bulls and exploded for 19 2nd quarter points. 2 missed extra points by the kicker for the Bearcats proved to be the difference as USF squeaked out the victory. As Hippo pointed out a few weeks ago when he played Cincinnati, the kicker was awful. The bearcats had to constantly go for 4th down conversions deep in USF territory with proved to work in the 2nd quarter, but bit them down the stretch as they finished 2-5 on 4th down conversions. It was tough running all day for Bulls RB Demetris Murry as he churned out 135 yds on 36 carries. I lucked out on this game.

    Cincinnati Notables

    QB Collaros 17-28 229 yds, 1 TD/1 INT

This game was as close as the score would indicate. The Bulls looked good early on but the Huskies made a great 2nd half run and forced USF into turnovers that proved to be the difference. Washington's QB Leonard picked apart the USF defense at will, completing 25 of 30 passes for 307 yards. Coach Emit played a great game and stopped South Florida on 4th down with 1 minute to go in the game for the victory. Hats off to Washington, they were definitely the better team on this day. The lone bright spot for the Bulls was Demetris Murray rushing the ball for 146 yards on 14 carries and 2 TD's.

This game was a barn-burner as USF narrowly escaped with a victory on the road at Pittsburgh. The Bulls passing defense was porous as usual giving up a 300+ passing day to Pittsburgh QB Sanseri. USF used a big fourth quarter to win the game behind a bulldozer performance by Demetris Murray. This was a good rebound win after a devastating loss last week.

South Florida won their third straight conference game to improve to 3-0 within the Big East. Louisville kept the game close through halftime but USF proved to be too much in the end winning 34-16. The Bulls passing defense continues to be an issue as Louisville turned in a 300+ passing day between their two quarterbacks that played. Demetris Murray had another big day rushing for 144 yds on 26 carries, adding 2 TD's. BJ Daniels had a couple of costly picks inside Louisville territory but ended up having a decent day going 17-26, 293 yds with 2 TD's/2 INT's. Another good win as the Bulls try to get some momentum going heading into the 2nd half of the season.

    Louisville Notables

RB Anderson 17 carries 60 yds
