Utah Struggles Early

In what should have been an easy blowout win the Utah State Wolfpack hung in till the end. The Utes head coach Shane made a statement earlier in the year menitoning his opinion on the Utah State football team. "Utah State is a terrible program who has ballerinas pretending to be football players. They can consider us a rival but we will consider them a extra practice on a Saturday."

Apparentley the Wolfpack read that statement and had something to say. They only trailed 21-17 at half, and knocked Utes starter Corbin Louks out of the game late in the 2nd quarter. Utah State fluttered on offense though and couldnt manage to put any points on the board in the 3rd. Utah managed only a field goal themselves. Utah State kept it close at 24-17 until 5:50 left in the 4th quarter when the Utes pulled away with 21 unanswered points.

yeah no joke i seriously couldnt stop their offense in the first half. i would have them on 3rd and 8 or so and they throw a 5 yard drag route break 4 tackles and gain 40yards:( much tougher game then i was expecting. and they are possibly the worst on the game..im worrited about every team on the schedule now.

    OVERATED UNDERATED WHO'S WHO?

At the end of last football season the Utah Utes shocked the world and beat the snot out of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Many people thought it was a fluke game where Utah took advantage of a devasted Alabama team that had lost its chance at a national championship in its previous game. With last weeks game the Utes struggled heavily with a very sorry Utah State football team. It appeared as though repeating the success of last year would not be as easy this year.

Utah State traveled to Penn State to take on the #7 Nittany Lions this week. The Utes decided earlier in the week that they need to make a statement in this game. Despite that fact, the final score ended up exactly how the experts predicted it would 44-13. The only thing was they had picked the wrong team to be on the winning side. The Utes just embarrassed the Lions on their own home field. The Utes offense looked unstoppable as running back Matt Asaita had 13 carries for 104 yards and 1TD in the first half. He would have had more had he not been taking out of the game with an injury. Quarterback Corbin Louks made a return from his injury last week. He continued his dominating play as he went 10-18 for 287yds and 3TD.

The Lions offense could not do anything today and a large part of that may have been losing RB Evan Royster in the 1st half. The Lions might also need to find a new kicker as they were 0-3 on field goals all from inside 30yards and missed 1 extra point. We asked Jo Pa about the game and he very rudley kicked us out of the press conference. So no comment from him. Coach Shane on the other hand told us " Im very proud of this team today, after last week everyone was telling us that we were going to suck this year and nobody gave us a chance to win this game. We showed up and proved we are a strong team and our top 25 ranking is well deserved."

Utes Roast Ducks In Salt Lake City

The #16 Utah Utes coming off an amazing performance last week played host to the #21 Oregon Ducks this week. The Utes put on a show again this week showing that they are the real deal. The Utes jumped out in front early in this one thanks to a 32 yard kick return by WR David Reed, that set up great field position and a quick touchdown from Louks to Wesson for the Utes first score of the game.

Reed was injured on the play when he trucked two defenders then spun out of bounds. He tripped over a fan on the sideline and was out the rest of the game. The Utes showed for the 3rd straight week that they can handle opponents defenses just fine with 2 out of 3 of their star offense players. The 1st week they lost their starting QB for a half, the 2nd week it was their RB for 1 half, this week it was Reed for 3 quarters.

The Ducks could not help but shoot themselves in the foot on their drive following the Utes TD. Trying to make a play QB Jeremiah Masoli was hit while trying to throw and big man James Aiono intercepted it and took it to the house for a pick 6. In the 2nd quarter the Ducks finally managed to get on the board with a 10 play 83 yard drive. Capped off by a 2 yard pass from Masoli to Cavallie. After that the Ducks offense started playing as ugly as their uniforms look. Utah would add 2 field goals and take it to halftime up
    20-7.

The Utes defense was in the backfeild almost every play in the 2nd half of this one. The Ducks had no answer and only managed to score again agaisnt the 2nd team late in the 4th quarter. The Utes tried out a new offense this week and the Ducks had obviously not prepared for it. The Utes new offense could not be stopped in the 2nd half and they would add another 27 points to their score and take the win 47-16.

Next week the Utah Utes go on the road to take on the Rice Owls. It should be an easy win for the Utes. Lee and Kirk have both picked the Utes to win by at least 21.

Haha amen to that! They only have something like 13 alternates in this game... Maybe Nike pressured EA to put every one in the game.

    Utah Invades Fort Collins

The Utah Utes travelled to Fort Collins, Colorado this weekend to challenge the Colorado State Rams. From the start of this one things looked good for the Utes. The first series on offense the Utes were able to march 70 yards down the field and score a TD. The Rams following drive led to a turnover and great field position for the Utes who were able to get some more points. At the end of the 1st quarter it was 17-0 in favor of Utah. The Rams would continue to try and pound the ball up and down the field only to be shut down by the Ute's defense. In the 2nd and 3rd quarter Utah QB Louks would hook up with WR Reed two differnt times for a TD over 40 yards . This forced the Rams to start trying to throw the ball. They did pretty darn well doing it. They just couldnt find the endzone as much as they wanted to today only scoring 10 points. Utah would score once more late in the 4th quarter and seal the deal 31-10.

hmmmmm looks like the reporter for CSU must have stolen a rough draft of the Utah reporters game report. Then published it while the Utah reporter was on his way back to Utah to publish the report.

or it could simply be i figured its the same game so the same tables would work perfectly. you get the credit for them.

The Great Utah Rebellion Ends Bad for UNLV Rebels

The Utah Utes were on the road again this week as they took on the UNLV Rebels. Both of these teams defenses showed up ready to play today. UNLV looked like they would be the first team to shut out Utah in the 1st quarter. It was not to be however as a few big plays set up a 6 yard TD run by Matt Asiata with :34 left in the quarter.

Both teams would continue playing great defense untill around 3 minutes left in the half when the Utes defense got a key interception. On the very next play however tradgedy struck the Utes. Their main weapon Matt Asaita went down with a broken jaw on a 24 yard run to set up a Utah touchdown. The Rebels needed to score before the half to keep things close and they did just that. By way of a 58 yard TD pass to close out the half down 14-7.

The second half was all Utah as backup running back Beau Burton rushed for 3 TD's. The Utes managed to score 14 points in the 3rd quarter, thanks to Corbin Louks connecting on 15 of 15 pass attempts in the quarter.. The Rebels offense just could not keep up and the Utes pulled away. The Utes 2nd team played the entire 4th quarter and that might not have been enough as they shut out UNLV 21-0 to make the final score in this one Utah 49- UNLV 7

Corbin Louks has another great game netting a 173.1 passer rating.

Next weeks matchup has Utah returning home to take on the Air Force Falcons who are currently 3-3. They still have a game to play against Wyoming and coach jmillhimes later today. However the Utes dont seem to be concerened with Air Force afterall they are ranked 107 in turnover difference compared to Utahs #6 ranking.

Wyoming's head coach had to retire...You may be playing Wyoming with a player as a coach. Or a computer.

    Utes Destroy Air Force

The Utah Utes played host to the Air Force Falcons this past week. The Utah Utes came into this game ranked #2 in the country for the first time ever. That ranking gurantees them a spot in the National Championship game if they can win the rest of the games on their schedule.

After the game against Air Force it looks like they just might be able to accomplish that feat. The Utes started out the game with a 90 yard drive that was capped off by a 14 yard pass from QB Corbin Louks to WR Elijah Wesson for a TD.

Elijah Wesson and an Air Force defender both throw their hands in the air asking number 32 what type of coverage that was allowing the Utes TD.

Air Force looked to even up the score on the following drive. However OLB Steven Slyvester didnt have that in mind as he scooped up a fumble and took it to the house to give the Utes a 14-0 lead.

Air Force and Utah would trade a possession each before Air Force was finally able to get on the board when HB A. Clark took a screen pass 73 yards for a TD.

Utah would answer right back though with a drive of their own ending in a great 36 yard reception by David Reed. The extra point was missed so Utah held a 20-7 lead going into the 2nd quarter.

The 2nd quarter would yield a much better showing by the Falcons defense as they held the Utes to 4 consecutive 3 and outs. The Utes finally found the scoreboard again with 3:09 seconds left in the half when Louks found Wesson on a 5 yard pass. Then things got entertaining. The Falcons managed to get another big play in the way of a 46yard TD pass to T. Jeffereson with 2:09 seconds left in the half. Utah answered right back with a quick 2 minute offense drill capped off by a 17 yard pass from Louks to you guessed it Elijah Wesson for their 3rd hook up of the game. Air Force got a great return on the kickoff though which set up a 33yard field goal as the half expired. The Utes held the lead 34-17.

The 2nd half was pretty much a bore though as Utah spent the remainder of the game under center running the ball. They would manage to score 21 more points while shutting out the Falcons on offense and winning the game by a final score of 55-17.

This week the Utes take on a Wyoming. Wyoming is coming off of a bye week in which they fired thier head coach for an unknown reason. The game before that though they beat Air Force 30-23. Utah is still ranked number 2 this week and looking to remain their or take the top rank. We dont see Wyoming getting in their way this week either. We predict another Utah win
    Utah 49 Wyoming 21.
