Coach Max has been under fire at Utah for the better part of a season. The Utes started the year highly ranked, but after 2 close losses to Tennessee and Georgia and an utter implosion vs. Oregon State, some were questioning whether or not he or his team could come through in the clutch. The Utes finally play a good game (in terrible weather) on both sides of the ball, and in their annual battle for the PAC-12 South, Utah dominates ASU 30-3 and they do it with defense. After ANOTHER interception on their opening drive, the Utes D made up for the offense's blunder and took the ball back with their first of 6INTs on the day. Obviously, when your defense takes the ball away 6 times it makes the QBs job easier but Senior QB Mookie Cox played a great game. He completed 57% of his passes for 231yd and 2TD, and overcame his early INT to finish strong. Timely big passes would define his day however. He connected twice with 6'6 WR Deangelo Vickers for gains of 88(TD) and 45 yards. The run-game was just effective enough to open up passing lanes. Grier only averaged 3.5ypc and carried the rock 16 times. This win sets Utah up to close out the year and finish 9-3 in the regular season and once again head to the PAC-12 CCG (assuming they take care of business). Their remaining opponents have a combined record of 9-20.
