Palo Alto, CA (AP) -- In what may be one of the final seasons at the helm for two top-flight coaches, Coach Max and his Utah Utes were able to steal one on the road against Stanford. The series between these schools and coaches has been exciting to watch since the PAC-12 expanded, but had taken a decidedly Cardinal swing over the last few meetings. Utah has rebounded nicely however, winning the last two including a Conference Championship.

This particular game game ultimately came down to turnovers. The game started off with Stanford marching straight down the field and scoring a TD easily on their first drive. Maurice Wright and the Utes made a few plays and ended up with a FG. The Cardinal got back into scoring position and were looking to take command of the game, but the first of 4 turnovers swung the momentum back in Utah's favor. A few plays later and WR Zach McCoy took an out route in-stride 27yd to the house.

At one point, Maurice Wright & co. found themselves faced with a 4th and inches on the 1. Wright took the snap and tried to sneak into the endzone, but was repelled. Cardinal QB Jimmy Johnson got them out of the frying pan, but threw them right back into the fire with 1 of his 3 INTs on the day. Utah creeped right up to the goalline once again, this time the rock went to (RS)Senior RB and Utah native Lance Reid who punched it in for 6.

Utah would take a 17-7 lead into halftime and be getting the ball back to start the second half. Winning the toss didnt help too much though, as Maurice Wright threw his only interception of the day on the 1st play of the 3rd quarter. Things started to slow down for both teams who were forced to punt a few times, but another costly turnover by Stanford set Utah up perfectly. The first play after that pick was a strike to Senior WR Tre Lane down the sideline that carved the defense almost perfectly for a 32yd TD.

Although Stanford would rally in the 4th (as all great teams do) and score 14, another FG from the Utes and an onside kick recovery would seal a 10-point victory. gg HotRod Utah continues their road-trip next week vs. an always-game Oregon State squad.
