The Hookies got off to a nice start after a tragic week after Frank Beamer announced his sudden retirement and his assistant stepped in.

They started off real slow against Duke with Tyrod Taylor missing some throws PeeWee kids should be able to make but a stout defense led them to a 7-6 hold up midway throught the 2nd when the big man Greg Boone started to call for the ball more. still not able to convert much once they got into Blue Devil territory until Ryan Williams ripped off a few nice runs near the endzone and finally pushed one in.

Great DB play in the first half prevented a huge letdown of a first half for Virginia Tech. But they came out rolling in the 3rd quarter when Tyrod finally settled down and they used a few more TE and RB in pass protection they starting really slowing down Duke pass rush and Boone and the 2 freshman RB went to work combining for 21 3rd quarter points to get a huge lead going into the 4th quarter.

the second half had some great defensive play with a very nice 100 yard INT return on the 2 point convert by impact senior Corner Stephan Virgil. the younger guys got some action in the 4th quarter and looked solid.

The Good - TE Greg Boone with a monster game 10 catches and a TD
The Bad - couldn't stop Duke on the deep throws when Thad Lewis any time to throw
the Ugly - Tyrod Arm just awful and this team looks to be in big trouble if they get down early and they have to throw to win.

    Cool, good win.

Now if you wouldn't mind posting your 5 favorite offensive plays, what defensive plays you prefer to run and which player you control on offense, that would really help me practice for the next few weeks. ;)

    Virginia Tech - 41
    Boston College - 3

An inspired Virginia Tech team came to play against Boston College. Tech who had a huge momentum flux returning the opening kickoff which was returned into BC territory by the speedy Dyrell Roberts and Tech never looked back. The first drive was capped off by a nice TD pass by Tyrod Taylor to sure handed Danny Coale. Boston College had a quick quick 3 and out and the freshman David Wilson had a nice punt return to again put VAtech in good field position for a score by David Wilson.

Boston College finally got some offense going in the 2nd quarter with some nice runs by stud Sophmore Running back Montell Harris who had a nice 43 yard scamper but was brought down by the speedy Chris Hill and set them up for a FG to make it 14-3. It was right after there next possesion that disastor struck when Harris got hit by freak DE Jason Worilds and came down akwardly and it has been confirmed he will miss the rest of the season. The speedy Sophmore was the little engine for Boston College and was one of the ACC leading rushers with over 100 yards a game and a wopping 6 yards per carry average.

After that injury Boston College couldn't move the ball much and it just wasn't there day with all the lucky breaks going VAtech way with lucky catches off tipped balls. WR Josh Jarvis made 2 critical horrible decisions fielding 2 punts and not calling for the fair catch which resulted in him getting hit hard both times by gunner also dimeback Chris Hill which both resulted in fumbles and both were recovered and returned for TD by fellow gunner and nickelback Eddie Whitley for the first 2 touchdowns of his season and career.

the game was essentially over at half time being 28-3 and Boston College had no weapons on offense after Harris went down and the 2nd half was quick and they just watched VAtech run out the clock with the 2 freshman stud RBs Ryan Willams and Davis Wilson who both finished with 23 carries for a combined 260 yards and 1 TD by Wilson

Boston College will have a tough time recovering after losing 3 players all in the one game to multiple week injuries and about 4 different guys going down during the game for a period of time. Virginia Tech has a very tough scheduel coming up so this was a solid win for them and moves them to 2-1 in confrence play after a tough 1-3 start to the season.

The Good - Virginia Tech domination on special teams with multiple huge returns and 2 FF on punt both returned for scores and the 2 freshman stud running backs both having big games. The Defensive line was also unstoppable at times on the pass rush rushing 4 almost all game and getting huge pressure by the defensive ends who combined for 4 sacks between the 2 of them and plenty other close throw aways.

The Average - The Hookies passing game looked solid but unspectacular with Tyrod Taylor going 5-11 for 73 yards and a TD and 0 INT with a few solid passes and a huge 30 yard catch on 3rd and 11 that was dropped by Boone who burned a LB going downfield, but also missed 2 or 3 wide open throws badly and luckily not having another ball Intercepted.

The Bad - Boston College had the worst possible game they could of hoped for and lost there best offensive threat. They will have to rely on Josh Haden the younger brother of star Florida cornerback Joe Haden to move the chains the rest of the year with a very under average passing game.

    Virginia Tech 38
    Georgia Tech 33

In what was a dominating 1st half the Hookies stuffed the option attack of Georgia Tech with there athletic Defensive Ends gettin outside and the two awesome safeties coming up to support the run they held Gtech to three consecutive 3 and outs. On offense Vtech was driving nicely with legs of Ryan Williams but couldnt capatilize in the red zone throwing a Int and the next time on a 3rd and 4 Georia Tech got very good pressure up the middle forcing a sack to take Vtech out of field goal range and Vtech finally knocked in a FG to take a 3-0 lead.

In the second quarter the dominate defense took over for VAtech lead by senior defensive end Neko Brown with 2 sacks in the quarter and 3 technique John Thompson with 1 of his own. Than Tyrod Taylor took over with his legs with some very nice runs on option runs and took a HB zone read keeper in for a TD behind a dominating OL who blocked well all day for Ryan Williams and company. up 10-0 the teams traded a couple of punts until Georgia Tech finally got some nice passes and got into Tech redzone and threw a ball into double coverage and Randy Carmichael returned his first INT of the year 103 yards for the score for what is a new Virginia Tech record.

the 3rd quarter was more of the same dominating OL play and running by Williams and he took one in 22 yards for a major when the game was pretty much over up 27-0 heading into the 4th.

The fourth quarter Tech put in there backups on defense which was disasterous on the 3rd play they let reigning ACC offensive player of the year Jonathan Dwyer rush 64 yards for the TD while breaking several tackels from the option pitch. VaTech got the ball back and smashed the ball in for a TD from the freshman RB tandem driving down the field to get them in position. Than on the ensuing kickoff they smashed the return man and FB/TE Andre Smith returned the ball for a major to take a 38-6 lead.

Than when the backups on offense went in they fumbled which was returned for a TD by Georgia Tech and than they got the ball back and there 5th string RB Gregory fumbled on his first carry agian which was again returned for TD. Than Georgia Tech got the ball back on an onside kick and drove down the filed for another score scoring 31 points in just over a minute to the discust of Virginia Tech starters which were screaming to get back in the game but Tech still had a double digit lead and left the backups in for some much needed experience. They let up 1 more touchdown before the end of the game to make them game look a lot closer than it was but got the win regardless.

The Good - VAtech dominate line play by both the offensive line and defensive line led by emerging Lombardi award Canditate Neko Brown

The so so - Virginia Tech pass defense which looked dominate at times but also let up 5 3rd and 10+ yard conversions against some very average WR because Thomas didn't do much other than a beautiful sideline catch from a throw from the back of the endzone somehow avoiding a safety by Josh Nesbit.

The Horrible - Virginia Tech backup's letting up 33 point's in the 4th quarter alone with horrible play on offense and defense. 2 straight fumble returns for TD on consecutive plays by Georgia Tech by Vatech backup running backs was just hard to watch.

Vatech loses 31-21 against confrense foe North Carolina

In what was a terrible showing by both defenses neither team could really stop eachother early with both teams scoring on almost every possession in the first half except 1.

North Carolina went into the half with a 3 point advantage on a long FG as the clock expired after just missing on a few long bombs with one that Kam Chancelor tipped at the last second or else woulda been a 60 yard TD.

The second half North Carolina Houston just kept moving the chains as he used his 255 pound frame to keep falling forward and help UNC convert those short 3rd downs. Yates just would not miss being a perfect 17-17 in the game minus 2 hail mary incompletions.

Virginia Tech took the lead 21-17 late and were looking solid until UNC drove right down the field and scored with 3 minutes left to tak the 24-21 lead and than VaTech go the ball back but Tyrod after playing well all game just couldnt make a few throws missing some close downfield throws overthrowing 2 key 20+ yard passing plays.

VaTech played solid all game and didn't really lose the game as much as UNC won with both teams playing solid except for terrible defense.

The Good - Tyrod Taylor had a whale of a game with prob about 75 yards rushing along with close to 300 yards passing if it weren't for his rushing yards being deducted on the sacks and had no turnovers until a late hail mary INT

The Average - UNC passing game didnt connect on any long bombs but just kept completing short passes to move the chains and looked decent

The Bad - VaTech defense just couldn't make the big play that they needed to pull off the win. not forcing any incomplete passes or turnovers all game

Good luck with that VA Tech defense year 1. I had the worst defense in the league that year. It was awful. Try some more man defense as zone was worthless.

    Ahah thanks
yeah its pretty rough highly ranked overall but that undersized front 7 just cannot stop the run. Too bad too because corner's and safeties are amazing pretty much defense is one dominate DT away from being really good

VaTech runs all over ECU to win

VaTech came out on fire after a good week of practice after the loss to North Carolina and ran all over the Pirates. The 2 freshman stars did their thing and Ryan Williams had some incredibly inpressive shake moves on his way to over 100 yards in the half. David Wilson had a knack for the endzone in this one as he pushed the ball into the endzone on 4 different occasions.

The Defense played solid or to be more precise awesome only allowing one score on a nice screen pass by ECU. the DE's while not putting up big numbers on the stat sheet, both provided solid pressure throughout. The senior safety duo of Chancellor and Porch had another great game and teams have a tough time running the ball on 2 215+ safeties that can hit.

Greg Boone was the lone star in the air as he hauled in 6 grabs for 80+ yards and a very nice TD. one out pattern he ran over 2 poor defensive backs on his way to a big gain and is the only guy Tyrod seems to be able to get the ball to thru the air because his terrible arm cant make the NFL type throws to his wideouts so hopefully something changes by next year when Boone is gone.

The 2nd half was just VaTech running up and down the field with David Wilson and Tyrod on some nice option pitches in the 3rd quarter before the backups came in for the end of the 3rd and the 4th and showed promise especially the freshman QB Clayton who had only a few passes but they were accurate and solid going 3-3 for 41 yards.

Solid game overall before a big matchup next week against 9-1 Maryland which should be a fun game

    Tech wins big against Maryland

On the road against maryland on a snowy day the results weren't good for fat ass friggged and the terrapins. They got off to a good start after a very nice catch by ACC finest TE Greg Boone and stripped the ball out of his hands.

But.. Thats where the good news ended from there on in it was a Tech victory in all facets of the game. VaTech freshman star RB Ryan Williams went of for a 61 yard scamper up the middle and broke a few tackels for the long score. The 2 senior safeties for Tech shut down Marylands running game and forced them to pass where the two 4th year DEs pinned there ears back combining for 3 sacks. They forced multiple pressures too that forced Marylands Chris Turner into 3 INT one of which was returned for the score.

with 3 seconds left in the half losing 20-0 Maryland attempted a fake FG which with there luck on the day ended up completing the pass but falling inches short of the goaline because of the dive for the grab and time expired. The 2nd half didnt start any better after getting the ball Maryland tried some trickery and backwards latteral it to there QB from the wildcat resulting in a massive hit knocking Turner out for the game and JR DE Jason Worilds returning it for the 5 yard TD.

Tech defense came out smoking in the second half and got 3 defensive touchdowns and forced more fumbles than they have the entire season. Maryland could not hold onto the ball and Tech returned 2 fumbles for TD. They didnt even record an offensive TD inthe second half and scored 34 points.

    Final Score Tech - 54
    Maryland - 3

The Good - Virginia Tech defensive Line seems unblockable this season

The Average - Tech offensive moved the chains but can't seem to convert in the renzone too well this year and that continued today

The Bad - Maryland offense played hot potatoe with the pigskin today resulting in a very very ugly loss

Va Tech loses a heartbreaker in OT to ACC foe NC State

    Final Score in double OT
    NC State 45
    Va Tech 42

VaTech came out of the gates in the first half firing and scored 24 first half points highlighted by Ryan Williams 20 yard TD run to open up to a 7-0 lead.
Tech also forced 3 first half INT of Heisman contender Russell Wilson with one being called back because a late hit on the QB. VaTech QB Tyrod Taylor played his best half of the season going 11-13 for 160 yards and no turnovers and a nice 9 yard TD run.

The second half was a different story as it was a half of missed oppertunities by Tech which let NC State roar right back into the game. Techs defense could just not make the big play as they dropped multiple INT and bad tackeling. VATech which held a 21 point lead let up a unlucky 65 yard pass off a tipped ball at the line of scrimmage and than seemed to lose there focus as they from there on in could not stop NC St shotgun passing attack and let up another score the drive after forcing VaTech to punt after a quick 3 and out.

Tech was gonna run out the clock and tried to fool NC State on 2nd down with a few minutes left in the game but a huge drop on a 55 yard bomb by the usually reliable Boykin hurt them and forced another punt. NC State used up the clock and drove down the field

for the score as time expired to send the game into OT. OT was a story of no defense by either team as both teams scored quickly and NC State got a 2 point convert to put the pressure on but Tech matched. In the 2nd OT Virginia Tech had another huge drop on a 3rd and 6th play which forced them to kick the FG and than NC State offense drove down the field like they had been all 2nd half and put the ball in the endzone for the W.

The Good - VaTech QB Tyrod Taylor played a near perfect game going 15-20with 5 incompletions 3 of which were wide open drops.

The Average - Tech running game looked incredible in the first half but stalled in the 2nd half resulting in the loss because couldnt move the chains to run the clock out

The Bad - Tech defense missed way too many oppertunities in the 2nd half for the big play and are going to need alot of the young guys to step up in the bowl game to get some confidense going into next year as Tech loses some very key seniors on defense

VaTech pulls out a nice win against Michigan St to finish off the season strong at 8-5 and a Bowl Victory

They started off the game on an aggressive mode driving down the field throwing the ball and took a 10-0 lead on a nice slant route by Boykin. MSU got the ball back and ran down the field with the impressive freshman RB Larry Caper and made it a 10-7 game.

That was all Vatech did for the rest of the game as Ryan Williams took over and gashed and smashed his way thru the Spartans defense running for over 150 yards and 3 TD on just 13 carries as they could not slow him down. Tyrod Taylor had a few nice option pitches and had a very nice game minus a late first half INT.

Tech defense also came up big with a few INT one by Kam Chancellor and one by Jacob Sykes both of those being the players first and only INT on the season. a few young players got a shot to play the whole second half and tookt he most of the opertunity especially Quillie Odom who led the team with 11 tackels which is a career high for the former Hargrave standout.

Nekos Brown capped off his brilliant senior year with another sack to bring his season Total to 15 which is good for 2nd in the ACC. Brown was virtually unblockable all season from his Rush End position and will be missed next year. The backups got in the whole 4th Quarter and freshman QB JuJu Clayton tossed his first TD of the season in the unlikely event Tyrod Taylor leaves school he would be the projected starter next year.

The win was a nice victory for a team which had a down year and should along with Miami be favourites in the ACC next year as the two teams return very talented rosters.

Ya I haven't decided what im going to do with Logan yet
I might leave him at QB for another year because I didn't pull in a QB recruit this year so if I miss out on one again next year probably stay at QB but if I pull in a future QB I will probably move Thomas to TE or WR

Can't decide I dont want to fuck him up he's so talented
