#5 Virginia Tech(2-0) Vs #11 Nebraska Cornhuskers(2-0)

Blacksburg, VA - The Virgina Tech Hokies continued their success today even after going through a coaching change. Hokies new head coach T² Express had his team looking quite impressive in our ESPN Game of the Week. Tech took a couple series to get the freight train rolling but did so right after Nebraska kicker Henery missed his first of 2 field goals today. On their first scoring drive of the first quarter VT was being carried on the back of Sophomore Darren Evans. Evans took his plunge into the end zone with 2:35 left in the 1st to give the 7-0 to VT, after picking off a Zac Lee pass with less than 1:00 in the 1st VT was able to kick in a FG to take the early 10-0 lead headed into the second. When asked about his thoughts on the Hokies opening quarter under new leadership coach T² Express said "I don't think there could have been a better way of opening this game. We came out a little slower than i liked but after the first couple series everything started to click." In to the second quarter the Cornhuskers finally got on to the score board from a 15yd pass from Lee to WR Holt. VT was quick to answer the Huskers back. Tyrod Taylor lead the drive behind T² Express's newly implemented option. Darren Evans finished the drive on a 1yd scamper to give the Hokies a 17-7 lead mid way through the 2nd quarter. After the blackshirts had stopped the Hokies by bring extra pressure and tightening up off the line, VT pulled out a little trickery to extend their lead to 24-7. VT's flea flicker was able to throw off the stout blackshirts and opened up a hole for VT WR Boykin to snag the 43yd TD reception untouched. The second have would prove to be a nail biter for coach T² Express and his new team. While maintaing a lead of 3 possessions over the huskers, Nebraska was not about to lay down and give up to the Hokies. Nebraska would take the next 2 drives and bring the score to 27-21 at the end of 3. Into the 4th quarter things began to get wild. VT added another TD from Evans and Tyrod Taylor took in the 2pt to give the Hokies the 35-21 lead with 5 mins remaining. The ensuing Nebraska possession, Zac Lee took a tremdus hit popping the ball up into the air where VT DB Chancellor was able to rip it from the sky and take it all the way to the house giving VT the 42-21 lead. But Nebraska was not about to give up. Scored on a Lee pass to McNeil, pulling Nebraska a little closer. The Huskers went for the onside kick and VT had initially recovered the kick only to fumble it after catching the onside. VT was in an utter state of shock. Nebraska quickly raced down the field on the legs of their star Roy Helu. Again the Huskers tried for the onside but failed. Using the short field VT knocked in another rushing TD from Evans. to finally put the game away 49-35. In the post game interview with Coach T² Express he gave his thoughts on the game, "I have to give it to Nebraska they came out here to Virginia and they didn't ever give up even when things weren't going their way. I would like to wish Nebraska good luck on the rest of the season. I hope my players are able to take home a few things from this major victory for our club. #1 just because you have the lead by a sizable margin doesnt mean the game is over. #2 even if your down by a couple of scores as Nebraska showed us today doesn't mean that your out of it. I will enjoy with win tonight then its time to get thinking about our rival Miami."

    #4 Virginia Tech (3-0) Vs Miami(FL) (0-2)

VT is continuing their charge to the Nationail Title. This week the Hurricanes of Miami came to visit Blacksburg VA and the rivalry got hot this week. VT and Canes traded touchdowns early with VT getting the upper hand with 8 seconds left from an unbelievebable run by Darren Evans. VT went in at half time with a 14-7 lead. The Third Quarter was a defensive battle, both teams held their oppents offense out of the endzone, but it was VT's K. Chancellor that snatched a Miami pass and took it back 25 yard to the Hokies a comfortable 21-7 lead. The fourth would prove to be a total break down by VT both on offense and defense. the offense sputtered and only managed to knock in a 41yd FG by Waldron. This would prove so very valuable. Miami would put up 14 points in the 4th quarter. VT Head Coach T²Express said in the post game interview "This team must learn to play 4 complete quarters, yes this is a rivalry but i think when we got up a couple scores we thought that we were done and for some reason this team is struggling to find it self and realize that you must play 28 mins of football if you want to win a National Title. I hope we can learn from this and celebrate tonight and in 24 hours we have to get ready for Duke.

    #3 Virigina Tech (4-0) Vs Duke (3-1)

Blacksburg VA - VT continues its charge toward a great season. In a game where records were broken and dreams for one team crushed. VT dominated on the score board, posting a season high 80 points. VT had two players break records against duke. The first coming from C. Hill on a 91yd Int returned for TD. The Int return shattered the old record of 80 yds. VT's star RB Darren Evans posted a record shattering 311 yrds rushing on 30 carries. The game was an offensive show case. VT's offense was earth shattering, piling on 801yrds of total offense. VT ran the ball 52 times and pounded Duke for 507 yards. VT was just shy of 300 yds passing. VT accounted for 10 TDs. Duke also had an offensive explosion. although duke was shut down on the ground held to just 41yds on 18 carries. Dukes Thaddeus Lewis exploded through the air. Breaking the Duke passing record for most yards in a game. Lewis went 29 of 40 and totaled a staggering 519 yards and threw for 5 touchdowns. Even though Lewis numbers are very impressive VT made lewis pay with 5 INTs and sacked him one time. Coach T²Express was extremely livid in the post game interview saying " This defense is goin to cost us if they continue to get beat through the air. We gave up 520 yards... thats more than some teams make all game in total offense. We have a great secondary but i want to know when they are goin to show up. i will give them some credit they finally came to play in the 4th qtr. but as i have been saying all year long you have to dominate all 4 qtrs on both sides of the ball. and right now we are dominating on offense. My hat goes off to this offense. I told Tyrod after the Miami game that this is his offense and im going to cut him loose and let him call the shots. Tyrod and Darren have really taken control of this offense and made it one of the best units in the country. 801yds of offense is extremely impressive. I wanna congratulate Darren on his record breaking day. I want this team to celebrate this win. and in 24 hours we have to start getting ready for Boston College.

#3 Virigina Tech (5-0) Vs Boston College (1-3)

VT continues dominance in ACC, Defense looking better.

VT opened its conference aganist BC in a stunning fashion. Dyrell Roberts streaked down the field 97yrds to take the opening kick off all the way back to the house. The first quarter was all about scoring, both teams scored 2 TDs and VT managed to maintain the lead by kicking a 39yrd FG to take the 17-14 lead headed into the second. BC would finally take its first lead of game after Marscoverta hooked up J. Jarvis for 68yrds after Kam Chancellor fell down. It would take Tyrod Taylor and the vaunted VT offense only 1 min to reply to long TD by BC. BC came with a heavy blitz leaving Tyrods favorite Reciver Boykin wide open. They connected for 54yd TD to take back the lead and VT never looked back. With less than a minute left VT punched in another TD from Darren Evans to up 31-21 @ the half. Dyrell Roberts took the opening kick back down to the BC 10 and Darren Evans would scamper in for another TD from 8yrds out. BC would add its final score of game only after Darren Evans scored another TD for VT giving him 3 on the day. VT would go on to score 24 points alone in the 4th quarter to take the win. VT played its best defense of the game in the 4th getting 2INTs taking one back 35yrds for the TD. VT also grabbed a fumble and managed to score a FG to seal the win up.

VT will have its toughest road game of the Season in what looks like week 7's Game of week as they travel down to do business with #6 Georgia Tech.

#3 Virigina Tech Vs #6 Georgia Tech

VIRIGINA TECH PULLS OUT WIN IN THE FINAL 3 SECONDS TO REMAIN UNBEATEN

Virigina Tech went down to Georgia in one hell of a dog fight.

In the 1st qtr it was all defense. GT got on the board first 3-0. Virginia Tech still struggling to move the ball go down inside the GT 20. Coach T2Express decided to take a gamble. He went for it on 4th and 2... STUFFED! 3-0 after 1. GT would take the ball back down the field and add another 3. With the lead 6-0 VT needed something big. Rise Up Tyrod Taylor! Tyrod ran the ball on 6 carries with the option and got VT down inside the GT 20.. again 4 and 2.. this time VT played it safe and took the points. 6-3. GT added another 3 points to make it 9-3 After forcing a 3 and out for Yellow Jackets VT took the ball and lined up in the shotgun. Tyrod Flushed out to the right found Coale who sneaked behind the GT corner and Tyrod put up a perfect pass. Coale snagged it a walzted into the endzone 10-9 at the half.

    COALE TD CATCH

After half time the offenses for both teams came to life. GT held to another 3and out punted the ball. VT back in the shotgun Tyrod Taylor dropped back again. finding Darren Evans who snunk out of the backfield wideopen and raced into the endzone giving VT the 17-9 lead. but GT would answer back. FB J Dwyer took the hand off and slammed right up the middle for the TD. GT went for 2 and in a coverage break down got the 2pts. VT would answer right back driving down the field and Taylor hooked up again with Evans. this time from 24yrds out. now up 24-17. GT would again answer the Hokie score with a TD of its own. 24 all after 3 brutal quarters. GT would open the 4th with a TD after a Taylor INT. 31-24 GT. Taylor would hook up with Coale once again who got the ball down to the 2yrd line. Back up RB Wiliams scamppered in for the TD 31 all. with 2mins left in the game. GT would again strike now having the advangate in possessions. 44yd pass and GT again took the lead. 38-31. VT got the ball back with 55 seconds left and again Taylor and Evans hooked up for the long TD pass to tie it all up @ 38. VT was at the mercy of GT a stop here and it was either OT or VT would have to score. GT dropped back and threw a long bomb. VT's star CB Stephan Virgil Ripped the ball out of the air for INT. VT Now had a chance to win it. before sending the offense out for the final drive Coach T2 said one thing to his team. "How bad do you want this win? How bad do you want to play for a national title?" Out came the offense. Tyrod dropped back and again Evans wide open. Evans caught the ball and broke a tackle ran another 10yrds before being pushed out inside the 10yrd line. 10 seconds left VT called a TO. deciding to take the win VT ran left to line up the FG. TO VT. GT would spend all 3 timeouts trying to ice Matt Waldron VT's kicker. with 3 seconds left the came, ball down, kick on it way............THROUGH THE UPRIGHTS VT WINS!!!!! 41-38... VT WINS!!!!! 41-38...

In the post game interview Coach T2Express had little to say. "it was a dog fight and i knew it would be Georiga is a good club.. but we were better when we had to be better. they blitzed the shit out of us.. and we adapated and overcame it. im proud of my team for digging down and getting this win. now well have a week off to rest and recover before hosting UNC."

    VT REMAINS UNBEATEN!!!!!!

Blacksburg VA, VT has mangaged to maintain its perfect record. Toppling the UNC Tar Heels in a high stakes match up.

VT coming off its bye week spent the week preparing for the UNC attack. UNC is comming off a win vs fellow ACC team Florida State. UNC took the W 42-30.

From the opening kick-off tensions where high. VT got the ball to start with and came out moved the ball a little bit but punted to the Tar Heels. UNC drove the ball down to the VT 14. TJ Yates dropped back to pass and threw to his left. Only to be picked off by SR ROLB Cam Martin. who raced back 86yrds for the TD to give VT the 7-0 lead. UNC would get the ball back on the kick off and take the ball down the field and Yates hooked up with J.Adams who broke loose after VT secondary broke down. 7-7. VT took the ball back down the field only to hand the ball off to its star player Darren Evans who plowed in from 5yrds out. 14-7 after 1 qtr of play.

2nd qtr. After getting the ball back by way of INT VT again struck paydirt with Darren Evans plowing in from 2yrds out. giving VT the 21-7 Lead. UNC came back down the field and tacked on the 3ptr. VT again called on the shoulders of its golden child, Darren Evans, Evans caught a 6yd pass from fellow teammate Tyrod Taylor to give VT the 28-10 lead. UNC got the ball back with about 2mins left in the 2nd and began its passing attack. Finnally getting in after VT's Kam Channcellor attempted to pick off the pass. to pull within 28-17. With 22 seconds left VT went into hurry up mode. Tyrod Taylor made 3 passes and got VT down to the UNC 42 where VT called on the leg of its often forgotten kicker. Waldron booted in the 52yrd FG as time expired to extend the lead to 31-17 at the break.

The second half would be an entirely different story from the 1st. neither offense could do much. Enter the 3rd qtr. both teams traded the ball back and forth back and forth for much of the entire qtr. Until UNC got the ball down to the 1yrd line and R. Houston was able to plow into endzone to bring the score to 31-24.

The 4th qtr was a defensive battle. both teams hammered away at each other with big hit after big hit. but perhaps the biggest hit came late in the qtr with less than a minute left. TJ Yates had dropped back to pass and was surveying the field he we was plowed from behind by a VT Defender causing a fumble. C. Hill recovered the ball for the Hokies who ran the ball down to the the 38yrd line. UNC called a time out with 45 seconds left. facing a 4th down VT decided to kick the 3pt to seal the W. again Waldron came out and he delivered. 34-24 your final from Blacksburg.

Coach T2Express had this to say during the Post Game Interview. "My hat goes off to the Coach Wildes and his team. he has a great, great ball club. we just got the lucky breaks when we needed them. The offense looked good and the Defense played the best that they have all year. We did great in all 3 areas of the game and now we look forward to securing up the ACC and playing for the ACC title and hopefully we will get into the National Championship. I would also like to wish coach wildes good luck next week."

    #2 Virigina Tech (8-0) Vs ECU (4-4)

VT Dominates ECU Taylor goes down in the 2nd.

VT passed another team on its way to the national championship. ECU became the lastest victium of VT's massacre. VT started out early with none other than Darren Evans. who ripped off a 61 yrd run only to be brought down at the half yard line. he would walk right in on the next play giving VT the 7-0 lead. Then something very uncharateristic of this team happend. Tyrod taylor go hit passing and was picked off and ECU took the INT all the way back for a TD tying the game. on the next VT drive Taylor dropped back and hit Evans in the flat who fumbled the ball. again ECU took the turnover right back to the house. 14-7 ECU. VT was stunned. but like any great team got right back to business when Taylor and Evans hooked up for a 71yrd TD pass down the left hash. 14-14 all. ECU would be forced to punt. Again Evans took the handoff and dashed into the endzone giving VT a 21-14 lead after 1. In the 2nd Evans took the handoff and dashed for 22 yards for his 3rd TD of the day. ECU responded later with its own TD after Tyrod Taylor went down with a pinched nerve. Evans finished the 1st half off with his 4th TD carry from 3yrds out giving VT a 35-21 lead at the half.

In the 2nd half Taylor returned to the game and found Darren Evans open in the flat who streaked into the endzone from 4yds out. ECU would respond in kind with a 45yd TD pass after some confusion by the VT secondary. VT would sub in its 2nd team trying to keep injuries to a minium just before the last major showdown of the season against Maryland next week. back up HB Williams too the pass form JuJu Clayton and scored from 8yrds out. giving VT a 49-28 Lead. The 2nd team defense was struggling a little bit with the ECU 1st teammers and gave up 2 TDs to ECU in the 4th qtr both passes coming for 26yrds and 6yrds respectivly. in the last min the 1st team players for VT came back out to make sure ECU would be unable to mount any miricle comeback. DT C. Thompson made a fumble recovery in the endzone for a TD. and Tyrod taylor finished the scoring from 4 yrds out on the option run. VT missed 1 extra point because of some odd reason.

    VT wins 62-42.

    #2 Virigina Tech (9-0) Vs #22 Maryland (8-1)

    VT Slips past Maryland

VT struggled during middle of the game to control the Terps. VT was down as much as 10 points.

VT scored the first points of the game when Tyrod hooked up with WR Coale for a 9yd catch goin up 7-0 to finish the 1st qtr. the Terps would get on the board with a FG from 56yds out. Then the Terps exploded. with 17 unanswered points. it wouldnt be until the last 40 seconds of the 2nd when VT would shake off the stunning display put on by Maryland.

In the 2nd Maryland had force VT to air the ball out. VT defense was sturggling to contain Maryland due to some confusing, (safteys kept trying to cover out side WR) Maryland formations. the 3rd qtr was an offensive show case from both teams. back and forth they went with MD scoring followed by a Taylor pass to TD. VT tried to start cutting into the lead by going for 2 but Taylor lead WR Roberts too far left and the pass hit the ground.

The 4th qtr VT finally took the lead back. Taylor and Roberts took the first snap and Taylor rolled left. (I was cutting them up with slants and outs) Found Roberts who had broken away from the Defense. Taylor released the ball and out it went Roberts took the catch 76yds for the go ahead score. But maryland was not done. Terps TE Watson killed me here. 5 VT players missed tackles even with sure tackle on. all the way down for the TD from 63yds out. VT was beginning to wonder if was the end of its mircale season. like so many times before VT was so close. But Coach T2Express told his team that to get to the ship you must Adapt and Over Come Adversity. and Overcome they did. Taylor dropped back to pass and was flushed right by the Terps CB. Tyrod took off with wide open field in front of him he started to cut back toward the middle of the field with the defense closing, he juked left and cut back right opening the sidelines so he could scamper down to the 5 yd line. On the ensuing play VT ran the option and Taylor took it in from 5 yards out. with just a 2point lead, Coach T2Express decided he didnt want this game to over time he wanted maryland to be forced to score 6 to win.. so Tyrod and offense stayed out for the 2pt play. From the shotgun Taylor ran the triple option faking the handoff to FB Younger and took off left. untouched into the endzone giving VT a 49-45 lead. The Terps came out and started to get to work. VT had MD down to 3and14 when a terrible penalty was called. Defensive pass interference from DE Worlids. when he tackled Star RB Scott just prior to him dropping the screen pass. so new life breathed into the MD offense. down the field they went. after crossing the half way line. the VT defense stiffend. getting 2 sacks and knocking down 2 passes to keep MD out of the endzone and giving VT the chance to run the clock out. VT handed the ball off 7 times to Darren Evans who got the ball down to the 38. VT kicked a FG with 12 seconds left. to secure a tie.

VT goes on to win 52-45.

I knew this game would be difficult as we have not played on the road very well this year. we still have managed to get the job done. but some times its just god awful ugly.

VT looked great during the first half running the ball up and down the field. VT threw just 1 pass in the 1st half on a 3rd a long with 30 seconds left in the 2nd. With 3mins left in the first VT had put up in the first 5mins it was 21-7. CMU would get a FG at the end of 1. VT TB Ryan Williams had already carried for 100+yards.

In the 2nd it was VT again dominating with the ground game along with some huge defensive plays. VT put up another 21 points while giving up a TD to CMU after a bad pitch on the option from JuJu Clayton to Ryan Williams. VT attempted its only pass of the 1st half which was incomplete from Clayton to Boykin.

The 3rd quarter the starters played just 3mins before the backups would take over. VT added another 14points to give them the 56-17 lead with 4mins left to play in the 3rd. When the scrubbs got their chance it didnt look very good. CMU would score on a INT a Fumble to bring the score to 56-31 after 3.

In the fourth with the scrubbs still out there taking a beating VT would turn it over again to CMU by way of an INT 38-56VT.. VT would finally answer back the series of points put up by CMU a 5yard run to David Wilson. But CMU was not done. after CMU kicked an onside and got it back they drove the field and added yet another TD. after forcing VT to punt CMU threw the ball to the 1 and then scored yet another TD to bring the final score to 51-63 VT Wins..

    Post Game..

Coach T2Express had this to say after the game.

"Alot of people are going to look at the stats and the score of this game and say wow VT isnt very good if they give up 462 yards threw the air.. and gave up 51 points to 1 deminsional CMU team. But heres how it was.. I could have left my starters out there for the whole game and scored 84 points but what good does it do this team if we hang 84 on a lesser oppnent when we are goin to be facing teams such as NEB, NCSU, GT, ORE, ND, UNC? nothing we have 38 freshman on this team. if we wanna be a great team for the next several season then we need to get these kids on the field and reward them for making our starting group able to hang 56 points up while only throwing 6 Passes while the 1st team was out there. Ryan Williams carries the ball 22 time and runs for 337yrds and 4TDs and people will say that we still not very good. but our defense only give up 100 total yards in the first half. Now we know what we need to work on with these freshman. but when the 1st team plays all 4 quarters i am very confident that we will be a very good team.

    G.O.W. #6 Virigina Tech Vs #12 Oregon

VT Turns on jets, blows wings off Ducks..

VT came back from a 21 point defiect to take the win 56-24

    1st Qtr.

Oregon got the ball first and drove down the field and missed an early FG. But VT didnt come out to play... on the first VT possesion Ryan Williams fumbles and is scooped up by OR and taken back to the house. 7-0 Ducks, VT gets the ball back and again on the first play INT by the same OR defender!! FS T. Jackson had scored 14 points on his own in less than 1 min. Again VT got the ball and couldnt do anything with it.. Oregon got the ball and aired it out for another TD 21-0 with over 3mins left to play!! It looked like VT was headed for a certain blow out.. Coach T2Express pulled his team together between the kick and told them to "keep their heads up, well adjust and be just fine. they cant play with us.. right now we are the only team beating VT..." and then things started clicking for the Hokies. R. Williams would bounce an inside run 19yards to the outside for 6, 21-7 after 1 quarter.

    2nd Qtr..

VT finally came alive. the defense looked stellar, however the special teams still hadnt got it all plugged in yet. with 4mins left VT struck again on a 31yrd pass to TB. D. Wilson to pull with in 8.. Massey misses the extra point! 21-13 OR. VT grinds down the Ducks offense and forces a punt. Again the ground game is called on and it delivers. Ryan Williams brought the game within 2 on and 18yrd catch for 6. VT would go for 2 and TE Smith would be ruled out of bounds before he made the catch. 21-19 OR... with time winding down ORE was trying to air it out some more. with just under 40 seconds left OR QB Jerimiah Masoli was picked off by CB C. Hill who to the INT back for 55yrds and gave VT the lead. 25-21`the kicked made the half time score 26-21.

    3rd Qtr.

VT got the ball to start and down the field they went this time with the option attack. JuJu Clayton would scamper in from 12yrds out to add to the VT lead. 33-21 VT. OR would get its only points outside the opening 3mins with a 30yrd FG. VT responded with another JuJu Clayton option attack with JuJu running in from 10yards out. VT would go for another 2pt and miss it when Clayton was stopped inches from the goaline. 39-21VT.

    4th Qtr.

VT would dominate the final quarter of play by adding a FG and 2 More TDs. the final 2TDs wouldnt come until a min left in the game. VT was grinding down the Duck defense when TB. David Wilson broke a long run down to the 1yrd line and then capped the drive off with a 1yrd TD run. The Ducks tried again to mount a come back. Masoli was running the option with 10 seconds left, he went left only to have the pitch snatched up by E. Whitely who ran the 43 yards in for the final score as time expired. 56-24 VT Rolls.

VT will take open conference play with Georgia Tech next week at home.

VT dominated this game. although the score looks like this it was a 28-10 game until the 4th qtr.

VT ran the ball up and down the field give credit to the UNC defense who stopped VT 2 times in the red zone.

VT retook the the lead from 28-32 with a CarMichael KO Return.
