I honestly do not care one way or another. If they are allowed, I do vote for restrictions. Other than that, whatever you guys want.

I will abstain from voting because I think they should be allowed on Offense, but not on Defense.

I edited the poll. Boom29 and Cheez please vote. If you feel that restrictions are needed to allow them in please vote yes and we will address the restrictions down the road.

Dont mean to cut in on you guys, but we went through similar discussions in PFP. I really believe if you're going to allow it on offense, you HAVE to allow it on defense. You need that balance.

Tapatalk doesnt let me vote..... for me CPBs were the best feature in '12. The rational for banning them is laughable to me. We dont and wont allow cheez custom book or not, the root problem in that case has nothing to do with the feature, if a guy is going to use exploits or whatever he doesnt need a custom book to do it. To me, yes on all CPBs and obviously everyone needs to keep it sim.

Now if CPBs start causing issues with the file then lets drop them, but assuming EA corrected the issues (they say they did) i say go for it.

Whats next, you have to run the offense of the team you select? I want to be my own coach, thats part of the experience to me.

I see your point but I'm not sure I agree. The default defensive playbooks contain pretty much every play for whatever base set you choose. A defensive custom playbook in 2012 let you pretty much have every defensive play and formation if you wanted, which isn't the case on the offensive side.

Agreed. CPB has been something long awaited by the community for it's "coach" effect. I personally had zero problem's last season with anyone I faced that used them (and I think that might have been everyone at one point or another).

You guys feel strongly and that's cool. I'm just giving the opportunity for those who may feel differently to be able to voice that opinion. As in all things, ultimately we need to treat this for what's best for the league as a whole.

While I tend to be fine with the use of custom playbooks (assuming that there are rules governing their use), if the majority of the league doesn't want them in, they likely won't be.

This is basically how I feel about the issue. A custom playbook on defense allows you to negate any inherent weaknesses of the "base" defense.

I vote for offensive playbooks with restrictions and no custom defensive playbooks.

Defense is far more cut and dry on "money plays", and you can practically add every defensive play and formation into the same playbook. I don't like that you can get the best of all worlds. I also really don't care for it when someone adds the 4-2-5 to there playbook then uses it as a dime package. If someone wants to play with the rarely uses specialty defensive formations, make them deal with the deficiencies of that base playbook.

Looks like you guys already feel the same way.

After thinking about it I'm changing my vote to 'yes on offensive playbooks, no on defensive playbooks'.

It appears that yes on offense and no on defense is going to win. I didn't count the people who changed their votes but offense was 10-1 in favor of custom PBs and defense was 7-4 in banning of defensive CPB's.

Honestly, I think that defensive custom playbooks are easier to legislate (using the no. of down linemen rule I suggested in the other topic) than offensive playbooks. Offensive playbooks are always subject to interpretation as to what is sim and what is not. Not so much for defensive playbooks.

But I don't care one way or another. Do whatever you want - I'm good (y)

You are correct - unless something is dramatically different in NCAA 2013 we will not allow the use of custom defensive playbooks.
