No Ralph, No Problem!!
Purdue Overcome a Terrible 1st Half and an Injury to Ralph BoldenTo Prevail in Their Home Opener 28 - 13
Purdue hosted Middle Tennessee State in Week 2 of this young season as the Boilermakers looked to build off their opening week win. Things did not get off to the best starts as back to back Robert Marve interceptions on the first two drives of the game resulted in MTS getting the first 6 points of the game off 2 field goals. To add insult to injury, star running back Ralph Bolden was taken out of the game due to injury after only 7 carries, this day did not start out the way the home fans had wanted.
Purdue had to wait till the 2nd quarter to get on the scoreboard as Marve recorded his first touchdown pass of the season on a 26 yard pass to backup HB Sean Matti. Middle Tennessee State would immediately respond with a touchdown drive of their own, culminated with a 13 yard pass. On the first play on the following possession, Purdue would take the lead for good in this game as Matti burst up the middle and took it to the house for a 75 yard touchdown run, 14-13 Purdue at the break.
The 2nd half was all about the Purdue defense as they held Middle Tennessee State scoreless in the half, while also adding a score of their own on a Dwayne Beckford 41 yard fumble return. Reggie Pegram, the 3rd string HB, had added a 49 yard touchdown run only seconds before the fumble return, as Purdue took a 28-13 lead into the 4th which was a bore-fest with Purdue running out the clock for most of the quarter. Next week the Purdue Boilermakers are on the road as they face their first "real" test of the year against Washington.

ImpressiveBulls are demoralized in 31-10 whipping by Minnesota.
Marquise Gray on the read option, takes it 24 yards for a score.
Following a devastating loss to the USC Trojans in the season opener, the Gophers get it together and beat the Buffalo Bulls 31-10. A lot of good things were seen today but it doesn't mean too much being against a lower tier team. The leader of this team had some bright spots today with a 24 yard touchdown run on a brilliant read. He threw for 149 yards with a touchdown and interception. Duane Bennett, before being injured for the game, had 15 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown. Da'Jon McKnight continued his game changing play with 2 catches for 82 yards. He should have had a touchdown but was caught at the 1 yard line. The Gopher secondary was the key to the victory totaling 4 interceptions, one for a touchdown. SS James Manuel, CB Brock Vereen, CB Troy Stoudemire and FS Michael Carter all chipped in for those. Troy Stoudemire returned a punt for a touchdown but that was called back on a clip. Overall, a great showing by the boys from the 'Sota! A good bounce back.
Duane Benett beasts the Bulls' defense on a big run where he shakes multiple defenders. Check the website for this play.
Da'Jon McKnight caught at the 1 yard after a huge 3rd down conversion.
I love Minnesotas jerseys!
It's a Start..
Michigan prevails behind a great Defensive performance after the week 1 let down. The Wolverine defense was dominate versus the Broncos. Not only did the defense only allow 1 touchdown, but they also scored one of their own. CB Woolfork would take the ball 90+ yards to pay dirt to break open the game. HB Stephen Hopkins would score twice on the afternoon, but he only rushed for a pedestrian 50 yards. As for Denard Robinson, he was 7/10 with 114 yards and 1 TD before his injury in the second half. Now Robinson will be out for the next two weeks (Stanford, Notre Dame). But hell..a Win is a Win right now.
For some reason I got an error when I tried uploading my pics. I will try again to add them...
ESPECIALLY the all white ones
Oregon 41, Nevada 17
EUGENE- LaMichael James rushed for 174 yard and four touchdowns as Oregon blew a close game open in the second half to trounce visiting Nevada. Quarterback Darron Thomas struggled most of the time in tossing three picks but did account for 197 passing yards.
LSU 41, Oregon 24
BATON ROUGE- Turnovers doomed the Ducks in this one, as committed five in the road loss to LSU. Despite outgaining the Tigers 356-252, four interceptions thrown by quarterback Darron Thomas prevented the Ducks from victory. Thomas had a very poor game throwing the ball, completing just 16 of 38 pass attempts. LaMichael James, thought to be lost for the season in last weeek's win over Oregon, was apparently misdiagnosed and played the entire game, rushing for 56 yards.
