Seattle-The Wake Forest Demon Deacons played an outstanding defensive game against the #3 Huskies, but the offense was not able to do the job as the Deacons lost 20-17. The Demon Deacons defensive came ready to play breaking the starting Huskies' RB,Johri Fogerson's arn, on the opening drive of the game. This injury is devasting for the Huskies, as he is out for the season. On the second possession the Deacons injured starting quarterback Keith Price forcing him to miss the remainder of the series, but Nick Montana was able to throw a 51 yard touchdown pass to make the score 7-0.

That is where the score remained until midway in the third quarter, when SS Chyl Quarters intercepted a Keith Price pass taking it back 47 yards for a game tying touchdown. Then in the fourth quarter, Kenny Okoro forced a fumble a punt, and another Wake Forest player recovered the ball, setting up a first and ten on the Huskies 12. Which set up a Brandon Pendergrass 1 yard touchdown run. Then with over a minute to go the Huskies were able to score on a touchdown pass on a fourth and five to tie the game.

In overtime, the Deacons started with the ball, and struggled to move it. The Deacons converted a fourth and 15 to put the ball inside 10 yard line. However, the Deacons had to settle for a field goal. On the Huskies' second play Keith Price hit Marilon Barnett for the game winning touchdown.

In this game, Deacons defense played outstanding sacking Husky QB eight times, with DE Tristan Dorty recording 9 tackles, and 3 sacks, and 1 forced fumble. The three sacks set a single game record for a Demon Deacon. The Deacons offense let this great defensive effort down, with QB Jones going 8 for 31 for only 96 yards. RB Brandon Pendergrass rushed 66 yards on 22 carries.

    Wake Forest v. Ole Miss

    Wake Forest 27
    Ole Miss 10

Oxford, Mississppi-The Wake Forest Demon Deacons came into Oxford and dismantled the #6 Rebels 27-10. The Deacons victory was powered by a tenancious defensive that forced Ole Miss QB Nathan Stanley to throw 6 interceptions. On the offensive side of the ball, QB Skylar Jones struggled early, but in the second half he turned it on. For most of the first half Jones struggled as Ole Miss DE Delvin Jones caused havoc in the Wake Forest backfield. Jones started gaining more time in the pocket because of the Deacons' committment to the running game. RB Brandon Pendergrass ran for over 100 yards and scored two touchdowns. Additionally, the Deacons shifted their line protection towards Jones making his pass rush ineffective.

In the second half, after a Deacons intercepted another Ole Miss pass deep in its own territory Jones took the Deacons on at least a 90 yard drive that resulted in a 35 yard touchdown pass to WR Chris Givens. That is when Coach Worgum knew the Deacons were going to win this game.

At his press conference, Coach Worgum stated the following, "I am proud of the way our team played. For the second straight week the defense played spectular, and the offense is moving in the right direction." In response to the tough opening schedule, "We do not play cupcakes at this school, Ole Miss ate a cupcake last week against Arkansas State, and got fat. The Deacons will be ready for conference play in two weeks as we take on Maryland."

Winston Salem-The Deacons lost a tough battle against the Maryland Terrapins 38-31, however they earned the respect of the Terrapins and the rest of the league. The Deacons scored on the second play from scrimmage with Skylar Jones hit Chris Givens on slant pattern, he then broke three tackles and was off to the races for a quick six points. The Terrapins fumbled on their first possession, then on next play Jones hit Givens on a playaction pass setting up the Deacons in scoring position. This time FB Tommy Bohanon scored on a three yard run. Then the Terrapins got back in it scoring 24 unanswered points, with the devasting hail mary pass as time expired. This possession was set up with a red zone interception off a deflected pass. This severely hurt the Deacons, instead of being tied, or going into half ahead they were down by ten.

The Deacons responded in the second half by scoring ten unanswered points, with QB Skylar Jones hitting Chris Givens again for a 64 yard touchdown pass right after a big interception by Zachary Allen. However, the Terrapins would respond with Davin Meggett scoring on a 50 yard screen pass. MLB Scott Bettros stumbled shortly after the snap leading to this big play.

However, in the fourth quarter the Deacons moved the ball down the field again, however tragedy would strike on a first down completion, the receiver fumbled the ball and the Terrapins recovered. However, the Terrapins were unable to score. The Deacons got the ball back, but another interception Jones put the Deacons in a severe hole. The Terrapins drove the ball down the field, but destiny almost intervened as the Deacons stripped the ball from Meggett's hands but were unable to recover the ball near the endzone. The next play the Terrapins scored to make it 38-24. The Deacons scored a late touchdown, but was uable to recover the onside kick.

In a gut check game for the Deacons they came out firing on all cylinders. With QB Skylar Jones back in the line up the Deacons jumped out to a commanding 14-3 lead at halftime. The Deacons continued their domination over the Seminoles scoring on their first possession of the second half, making the score 21-3. Jones was aided by a strong running game by William Dixon V who rushed for 97 yards on 22 carries. For the day Jones threw for 14-24-266 yards, 3 TDs and 1 int.

In a very choppy game with pauses so the coach could help out his wife and child, the Deacons were able to pull out a victory they desperately needed. QB Skylar Jones struggled mightly in the rain throwing four interceptions. However, the WR Chris Givens caught four balls for 81 yards, and 1 touchdown. Additionally, RB William Dixon V ran for 75 hard fought yards. The defense frustrated QB Sean Renfree forcing him to go 8-22-122 yards, and 1 interception. There could have been several more interceptions, but the Deacons DBs dropped several passes. This win was a confidence booster as the Deacons look to turn their season around. Next week at UNC.

This result is very disappointing for the Demon Deacons as they watched their dreams of a bowl slip through their fingers against UNC. The game could not have started any better for the Deacons as they jumped out to a commanding 26-14 lead at halftime. The charge was led by Willie Dixon V who scored three touchdowns, one on a very impressive 41 scamper. In the third quarter everything changed, Dixon fumbled the ball on the third play from scrimmage, but the defense initially stopped UNC on three downs. However, the Tar Heels ran a fake punt and scored a touchdown on the play. The next series for the Deacons was three plays and out, and the Tar Heels scored again making it 27-26. Then Jones threw an interception on the next play, and the Tar Heels scored again on the greatest five yard run I have ever seen by a FRESHMAN. The Tar Heels were not down and added a field goal before the quarter was up. Making the score 37-26. The Deacons were able to get a field goal closing the gap in the fourth quarter. However, they were unable to convert a fourth and two late in the game that would have continued a drive near the Tar Heels 20.

For the first three quarters it was all Virginia Tech as the Hokies jumped out to a commanding 30-3 lead, but then in the fourth quarter the Deacons decided to fight back. The Deacons 28 points in the final quarter, but it was not enough. The Deacons scored in early in the quarter, and then intercepted a pass giving the Deacons the ball in excellent field position inside the Hokies 30. The Deacons scored again making the game 30-17. Then the Deacons got a three and out. Then started driving the ball down the field, but on a third and inches conversion a controversial clipping call was called against the Deacons, on the next play QB Skylar Jones was picked off. The Hokies scored making it a 20 point lead. The Deacons did not give up as they marched down the field scoring another touchdown. Then the Deacons recovered an onside kick. The Deacons drove the ball down the field as quickly as possible, and scored again. However, the Deacons would not recover the onside kick, and was unable to stop the Hokies, and lost again.

In the last game of the season the Demon Deacons played a truly dominant game beating the 8-4 Michigan Wolverines 35-14. With the snow and wind blowing at the Big House the Demon Deacons walked in and dominated the helpless Wolverines. QB Skylar Jones playing in his last game of his career earned player of the game honors throwing over three yards and three touchdowns as the Wolverines defense did not have an answer in stopping the Deacons offense. On defense the Deacons sacked the Michigan quarterbacks nine times, with Kristan Dorty tying a single game record with three sacks. In addtion the Deacons forced one fumble, which was recovered by CB Michael Williams who recovered it and scored the game clinching touchdown.

The only question where was this type of performance the other 11 games of the season?
