Washington proves top 25 ranking, questions surround Longhorns
(Trying to figure out how to post a video on here)

The Washington Huskies came out in week 1 against a tough #10 opponent in the Texas Longhorns. Many questions surrounded this program before the season with the recent change in coaching staff. The Huskies were able to start off their new coaches career off right with a huge upset victory.

It didnt take long for the game to become a blow out with the Huskies putting up the first 14 points in the game, and never looking back. The Longhorns did all they could to keep the game close but in the second half fell just short.

    Week 2 vs #11 LSU

    Washington @ LSU

LSU shows better talent and coaches
    [IMG]

The Washington Huskies were hoping to destroy LSU's national title hopes in their first game. Many people across America felt after the Huskies week 1 performance against Texas that they might be a legit contender for the Pac 10. LSU put all that to rest very quickly.

Even in the first quarter things were looking down on the Huskies chances as LSU jumped out to a quick 14-3 lead. After a few miscues by the Huskies the Tigers were able to put up another 14 points without any response by Washington. Just before the half they were able to punch the ball in to make the game 28-10 going into halftime.

The second half would fare no better for Washington as they would give up 2 more another TD and a field goal while only finding the end zone once. The Huskies would be sent back home to Seattle with their first loss of the season.

    Final Score:
    LSU 38 Washington 17

    Week 3 vs West Virginia

    Washington @ West Virginia

Big plays lift Mountaineers to huge victory, Huskies drop 2 in a row
    [IMG]

A week 3 match up put the undefeated West Virginia Mountaineers playing host to the Washing Huskies coming off a tough loss at LSU. The Huskies were hoping to rebound and get back on track against a highly explosive Mountaineer offense.

This game became an instant classic right from the start with the second offensive play from West Virginia going 85 yards to the house for a quick 7-0 lead. The Huskies would answer with a long drive and tying the score up before the second quarter. West Virginia was able to make a couple big touchdown plays back to back on a 23 yard TD pass and a 73 yard TD pass but missed both extra points to make it a 19-7 game. With under a minute remaining the Huskies punched the ball into the endzone hoping to make the score closer before half time, but the defense would not hold giving up another TD going into half time bringing the score to 26-14.

The second half is what brought this game from a blow out to most likely the most exciting game of the week. Deontae Cooper took his first run of the second half 77 yards to the house to bring the Huskies within striking distance. Once again however the Mountaineers offense would find the endzone to go up 33-21. Keith Price and the Huskies would not give in however throwing a huge 84 yard TD pass then on the next drive scoring on a 9 yard TD run to take the lead 36-33 after the 2 point conversion.

With the game on the line in the 4th quarter West Virginia was able to use their explosive offense and hit another 84 yard TD pass with 4:14 left in the game. The Huskies would move the ball down but be stopped on 3rd down with just over 2:30 left in the game. The defense would give up a first down and the clock ran down to 1:10. The Huskies had 2 timeouts left in the bag, using the both and stopping the run of 3rd down brought up a punt with 50 seconds left and around 30 seconds left on the play clock. The punt gave the Huskies the ball with 12 seconds left in the game and on the first play West Virginia sent the house leaving the slot WR WIDE OPEN. Price overthrew the target and left just 4 seconds left on the clock. After a completed pass over the middle and a run down to the 25 the Huskies would be stopped short of the endzone and lose their second straight game in a heart breaker.

    Final Score
    West Virginia 40 Washington 36

    Key Stats
    Passing
    Keith Price 15-34 396 yards 2 TD 1 INT

    Week 4

    Washington @ Arizona State

Huskies get back to .500 at the price of Sun Devils
    [IMG]

Conference play has finally begun for the Washington Huskies who are trying to get back on track after losing 2 straight games the last being a heart breaker to West Virginia. Their first Pac 10 opponent would be the Arizona State Sun Devils also coming into the game with a 1-2 record.

This one was never pretty and right from the start the outcome of this game was never in question. On their first drive the Huskies punched the ball in and on the second go around a great punt pinned Arizona State at their own one. Two plays later Washington came up with a safety. The Huskies would add two more TD's before halftime on the ground thanks to Brian Denman. The only score of the game would come just before halftime on an option play gone wrong as the Sun Devils would pick up the pitch and take it the house. 23-8 game at the half.

The second half would fare no better for Arizona State giving up 14 more points and putting up a goose egg. The Huskies would grab the ball in the fourth and run the clock out to finish the game.

    Final Score
    Washington 37 Arizona State 8

    Key Stats

    Huskies improve to 3-2
    [IMG]
The Arizona Wildcats came to Seattle Washington this week in a Pac 10 match up against the Washington Huskies. The Huskies entered the game coming off a huge win against Arizona State the week before and trying to break above .500. Arizona looked to knock off the Huskies on the road to improve their ranking in the Pac 10.
Not much to say about this game, the Huskies jumped on the Wildcats before halftime making the score 13-7 going into the half. Once the second half hit the Huskies never let up scoring another 21 points while the defense would hold giving up 0 points. It would be an easy victory for the Huskies who improve to 3-2 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.

Due to a crazy car accident before the game, neither coach was able to make it to this game. Leaving it all up to the players and coordinators to call the plays and hope for the best. Oregons talent prevailed and the Huskies dropped to 3-3.

    Washington @ #16 Oregon State
Montana, Price and Cooper, oh my!
This week put the Washington Huskies on the road against the #16 ranked rivals Oregon State Beavers. This would be a must win for coach Alemic for the fans in Seattle were already calling for his head after a 3-3 start. Before the game he looked at Keith Price (QB) and told him that he better play his heart out and leave it all on the field. This young kid did so this week coming back from injuries may it be wind knocked out, back spasms, broken finger, or even a case of the herpies he would not give up on this day.
The first half made this game look like it was going to be an instant classic. The Huskies and Beavers kept it close by playing solid defense to start the game. It wouldnt be until late in the first until the Huskies put the first points on the board taking a 7-0 lead. The Beavers would answer right back to tie the game, and then both teams would trade another set of touchdowns. With 2:00 left in the first half and the score tied 14-14 the Huskies would drive down the field and take a 21-14 lead going into halftime.
The second half would be all Huskies. The defense stepped up and would not allow another point to the Beavers while the offense worked the clock and made long drives. Keith Price would go down at several points in this game and the Huskies would show a depth at QB from the hall of famer's son Nick Montana. After the game we asked coach about Nick Montana he said "One of these days you will not remember him as Joe Montana's, instead you will Joe as Nick Montana's son. I promise you he will have an amazing season before he leaves this team."

Washington forgets to play second half
    [IMG]
For this first time since the Huskies back to back losses during weeks 2 and 3, Washington finds themselves ranked in the top #25. Before the game coach Alemic was asked what he thought about the teams new ranking responding with "I'm not exactly sure what the pollseters are smoking these days but I want some". Needless to say he is rather confused about how is just barely above .500 Huskies are ranked.
This week they took on the UCLA Bruins who are also having a rough time getting anything going this season. At the start of the game it looked as if it was going to be a blow out when the Huskies jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead before the second quarter even begun. Their momentum carried them through the second quarter as well putting up a stunning 35-7 lead going into the half.
Just outside of the Bruins locker room screams of the all of the coaches could be heard about their teams poor performance and how they mine as well of just left during the half. The Bruins players got the picture and came out of the tunnel at halftime fired up ready to take down the Huskies. Coming into the second half the Bruins relied mainly on the ground game and Jonathan Franklin stepped up huge for UCLA. He found the end zone twice in the third to put the Bruins that much closer to a huge come back down only 35-21. The fourth would go back and forth to start, before the Bruins would once again find the endzone to make it a one score game with 59 seconds left. After a failed onside kick the Bruins would force 3 quick defensive stops taking off only 6 seconds forcing the Huskies to attempt a field goal. Jesse Browning of the Huskies would put the ball through the uprights to all finish off the Bruins with only 51 seconds left.

    Another one?
This week the California Golden Bears visited the Washington Huskies in another Pac-10 match-up. The Huskies came into this game hoping to gain a few spots in the polls and to become bowl eligible. For coach Alemic this was seen as a must win game as many people around Seattle have him on the hot seat if he can not put together a nice string of wins to end the season.
The Huskies would end up winning this game easily, but the big story here is the amount of face-mask penalties called. There were a total of 17 total face-masks called in this game, nearly happening on every other play. Due to these penatlies the Huskies never had the ball behind their own 40 to start any drive in the second half, easily running away with the victory.
