Washington vs UNC Emerald Bowl The Washington Huskies took a big step towards rebuilding winning the 2009 Emerald Bowl over the North Carolina Tar Heels 31-13 to finish 8-5. After falling behind 6-0 in the 2nd quarter, the Huskies outscored the Tar Heels 31-7 the rest of the way. The Tar Heels were able to get a lot of pressure on Jake Locker all day, but he stood tall in the pocket and got the job done. The Huskies hope the momentum of a bowl win will carry over into recruiting season and 2010. Washington dominated this game statistically, 19-8 on first downs, 333-239 in total offense. Redshirt freshman Chris Polk was named player of the game after he racked up 136 yards of total offense and 2 rushing TDs. Jermaine Kearse hauled in 9 passes for 109 yards and Anthony Boyles caught 3 passes for 47 yards and a touchdown. Jake Locker completed 19 of his 26 passes for 221 yards and a touchdown and will spend the next few weeks assessing whether or not he will enter the NFL draft.
