Washington chose to kick off to start the game, and after a quick stop threw a 78-yard pass for a touchdown on their first offensive snap of the day. Iowa came out with an aggressive, blitzing game plan that just blew up in their face as UW really capitalized on these types of opporunities. The big plays included runs of 76 and 77 yards that set up scores for the Huskies throughout the game. "We really executed when they gave us the chance to make big plays in this one," said Coach Helli. "A lot of times you get perfect blocking and aren't able to make the catch, or go through the hole. To our credit we did that today, and it just wasn't their day as a result." After taking the 7-0 lead the Huskies got another stop and had a long run by Demetrius Bronson but he was tracked down and we ended up kicking a field goal. 10-0 The Huskies plowed in from a yard out to make it 17-0, and Iowa kicked a field goal before halftime. Halfway through the third we drove down again and this time from 23 yards out, Deontae Cooper took a screen pass and broke about 5 arm tackles and also got good blocking on a touchdown. 24-3 We ran the ball in the 4th and kicked a field goal, meanwhile Iowa started getting their offense going but it was too little, too late. Kind of a strange score for a game with zero turnovers, 27-10.
