    WILD CARD ROUND

    14 - 21

The New York football Giants came alive in the Wild Card round as they outlasted the NOLA Saints by a score of 21-14. Coming into the game both teams knew each other fairly well, so it was just a matter of execution and error free ball to come out on top. The emphasis on the week for the GMen was to slow down the fierce run game of the Saints... They did just that.

The Saints received the opening kickoff and put together a nice little drive. A drive consisting of multiple 3rd down conversions. But the Giants would turn up the heat. The Saints attempted a screen play but CB Byron Maxwell(1tak, 2ints, 1ff) came off the edge and put a shot on Brees forcing the ball out. It would be recovered by DE Kiwi and would stall the drive for the Saints.

The Giants took that momentum and coasted there way down the field finally capping it off with a 3yd TD pass to WR Victor Cruz(4rec, 41yds, 2tds). Once again Byron Maxwell would ignite his team as he would pick off Brees over the middle. That would close out the half with the score 7-0.

The Giants took the ball at half and came out strong. Mixing it up between run and pass had the Saints D on there heels. Moving the ball down the field, Manning would finally find Cruz deep in the endzone to put them up 14-0. The Saints would find pay dirt late in the 3rd qtr with a WR Colston(3rec, 56yds, 2tds) TD to cut the lead 14-7.

Going into the 4th it was still anyones game but yet the Giants seemed to have the momentum. Capitalizing on blitz pickups, Manning continued his solid afternoon as he chewed up the Saints DB's. A strong performance by WR Rueben Randle(6rec, 129yds) helped guide the Giants down field for yet another score. The Saints D regardless stayed stingy and tough but HB David Wilson would eventually punch it in from 2 yds out on a big 3rd down. 21-7 late in the 4th the Saints began to scramble and found a way to find the endzone with WR Colston getting his 2nd TD of the game. A failed onside kick would follow.

    The Keys to the game:
    FF by Maxwell on Brees.
    Giants played error free ball.
Giants held Saints to 43yds rushing

Solid fight Kris. Always a blast.
