San Francisco, CA In the opening week, the 49ers faced off with divisional foe Seattle, and came away with the victory in a defensive game. The 49ers got a field goal at the end of the first quarter to make it 3-0, and on the Seahawks next possession, up-and-comer Navorro Bowman picked off Tavaris Jackson deep in Seahawk territory to setup a 17 yard pass from Kaepernick to Vernon Davis to give the 49ers a 10-0 lead. Seattle would add a FG as time expired in the 1st half to make the game 10-3. In the second half, the 49ers were driving when Kaepernick fumbled the ball and Seattle recovered, his second fumble lost of the game, but Seattle couldn't do anything with it and had to punt it away. On the 49ers next possession, Kaepernick threw the ball deep down the middle for Braylon Edwards, and the Seahawk DB went for the pick, but missed it, and Edwards took it 73 yards for a TD to make it 17-3. Seattle again had to punt the ball away on their next possession, and Ted Ginn returned the punt deep into Seahawk territory, but the 49ers had to settle for a FG to make the score 20-3. The Seahawks would add a late TD, but did not recover the onside kick, and the Niners had just a couple kneel-downs to secure the victory.
