Up late. If you make sure a player isn't on the depth chart and they don't get any stats, they redshirt automatically.

    Kent State-52
    #19 Pitt-38

Another ranked opponent falls to the Golden Flashes! (good thing that Dylan guy has his passing game cheese..)......but wait kiddies, Spencer Keith only completed 5 of 14 to 5 different receivers for a total of 28 yards while being sacked 3 times. What ha-ha-happened?

Meet Dri Archer-5'7 163 lbs with 93 speed and 91 acceleration. He redshirted last year behind Jacquise Terry and lived in the weight room while wearing his patented shirt that said 'Hello' on the front and 'Goodbye' on the back.

Archer had a record day rushing 18 times for 211 yards, 4 TDs, 2 BTKs and 4 runs of 20+ yards. He also had 196 yards and a score on 5 kick returns assuring him National Player of the Week for week 1.

True freshman RB Reggie McKinney also had a fantastic debut. McKinney ran 12 times for 130 yards before getting knocked out of the game with a mild concussion.

3rd stringer Tyler Bates even got in on the action with 35 yards on 2 carries with a score.

"Pitt came out in a 4-2-5 or a 3-3-5 defense all game and we couldn't throw it on their DBs so we just ran it right at them...obviously in a good way."

Jr DE Russell Nix led his defense both on the sideline and in the stat column with 7 tackles (2 FL) while true freshman CB Adrian Foster debuted with 6 tackles and an INT. The Kent secondary picked Pitt off 3 times, not including an intercepted option pitch for a score.

Kent State will have the next week off and coach DirtyCash says he'll take the time to hit the recruiting trail and prepare for a rivalry game with Bowling Green in week 3.

Reserve Linebacker David Jones's Clutch Performance Closes 31-28 Thriller Over Tulsa

2nd Team Pre-season All-American LB Corey Carmichael ran out of gas early in the 4th quarter, and replacement David Jones became the hero. With a 31-28 lead, Tulsa had the ball in the red zone, when Jones read the eyes of the Tulsa QB and came up with an easy interception to get the ball back and prevent a Tulsa score. However, the Blue Raiders had to punt, and with 3 minutes remaining the Golden Hurricanes looked to tie or take the lead with good field position. But on the first play, a WR handoff to the outside, Jones broke through the line and cracked the WR forcing a fumble which was recovered by MTSU. Although Jones was the hero late, it was RB Benjamin Cunningham's play throughout the game which led to a MTSU victory. The senior ran 31 times for 160 yards and 3 TDs, and ran for a few first downs untill MTSU was able to take a kneel at the 2 yard line and watch the clock run out for MTSU's first win of the season. Cunningham had shown he had the skills with 6.3 ypc on 85 attempts last season, but is now the lead back this season after waiting behind DD Kyles last year.

MTSU struggled to pass the ball against the multiple Tulsa defense, gaining just 94 yards through the air, but the Blue Raiders grinded out the victory with 194 yards on 41 rushes. Tulsa jumped out to a 14-0 lead early, but MTSU tied it back up before the 2nd quarter. While Tulsa managed some big plays, the MTSU Defense terrorized them by forcing 5 turnovers and 5 sacks.
