It's really hard to do non-conference user matchups. Week 1 was the only option.

-----Penn State holds onto victory at Soldier Field-----

    2014 Game 1 Vs. UCF.png

It was an explosive afternoon in Chicago for both offenses, who combined for over 1,000 yards total offense. UCF's senior quarterback Isaiah Ryan
completed 29 passes on 38 attempts, and was hardly human as he led a potent Golden Knights attack to the very end of an early season thriller.
He came up in the clutch several times, and most importantly to convert a 4th and 8 in the Penn State zone during a drive that would eventually produce a
lead assuming touchdown. But then, Bill Belton answered by ripping off a 50 yard touchdown, where he fooled the defense with a wicked cutback.

Ryan would lead his troops to another long, twelve play clock eating drive, but they were stuffed at the fifteen yard line and had to
settle for a field goal and the tie. Coach Jbek would use his second time out to ice the kicker, but he was colder and made the kick.
With 00:23 left on the clock, Hackenberg stepped out for one last attempt at victory. On the first play from the twenty-five, he hit Eugene Lewis
for a 27 yard strike. He huddled his troops to the line, and in an almost identical fashion, he hit Lewis for another twenty nine yard reception.
with 00:06 seconds left, the Coach used his timeout, and sent his kicker out for a 44 yarder. With a smooth release and splendid accuracy,
Sam Ficken sent the ball fluttering through the uprights.

    Game Notes:

==Sophomore quarterback Christian Hackenberg completed 18 of 23 attempts for 289 yards. He threw one touchdown and one interception.

==Sophomore tailback Akeel Lynch rushed the ball for 160 yards on 16 carries. He ran for one touchdown, and averaged ten yards per carry.

==Senior Wideout Alex Kenney caught the ball 5 times and racked up 130 yards. He caught a 70 yard touchdown in the second quarter.

==Sophomore slot reciever Eugene Lewis caught the ball 3 times for 55 yards.

==Freshman Jason Lewis hauled in 3 tosses for 52 yards

==Freshmen Rodney Blanchard and Travis Thompson, two coveted blue chip linebackers, both saw considerable playing time. They combined for 5 tackles and one sack.

==Freshman Paul Jones, the #1 reciever in last years recruiting class, will redshirt.

    TROJAN DEFENSE DESTROYS FRESNO STATE

The USC Trojans are off to a great start with a powerful 49-17 win over the Fresno State Bulldogs. Pre-Season projections have USC Junior QB Max Wittek in the hunt for the Heisman this year and his performance this week proved that he deserves to be in contention for college football's most prestigious accomplishment. Wittek put up 400 yards, and 7 total TDs (6 passing, 1 rushing), unfortunately for Wittek he is still having trouble with turnovers as he threw 3 picks on of which was returned for a TD.

Many people have asked the question "Who can take the place of Marqise Lee?". SO WR Steven Mitchell may have an answer for that question as he converted 3 of his 5 receptions for scores as he led all receivers with 126 yards.

The biggest story of the Trojans efforts in week 1 has to be DEFENSE!!!! The Trojan defense played havoc with the Bulldogs allowing only 184 yards and forcing an astonishing 7 turnovers all of which were INTs. Junior CB Kevor Seymour was the catalyst for the Trojan defense as he came up with 3 of the 7 total INTs for USC.

DUCKS EASILY TAKE CARE OF UNLV, WIN 69-7
    [IMG]
This one was pretty much over before it started, the talent differential was just too much for UNLV. The story of the game was the Duck rushing attack, which was spearheaded by Heisman hopeful QB Marcus Mariota. Halfbacks Thomas Tyner and Brandon Marshall took over where last year's Heisman winner, De'Anthony Thomas, left off, rushing for almost 200 yards and 4 TD between the two of them.

The biggest surprise in this contest was the play of true Freshman running back, Calvin Davidson. In his first collegiate game, Davidson ran for 103 yards and 2 TD on just 17 carries. With his spectacular play, Coach Jandy has some decisions to make on which player will get the bulk of carries in closer games.

Hogs Start Slow, Win Opener 38-15

It was a sloppy start to the season in Fayetteville, from the rain-soaked field to the poor execution on the field by both offenses. Defense dominated the first half of this game as the only score at halftime was a 23 yard FG from new Arkansas kicker Sam Irwin-Hill. Razorback QB Brandon Allen struggled terribly early on as he threw an early pick and missed several open receivers badly. The Hog defense played wonderfully though as they constantly pressured North Texas QB Brock Berglund. In the second half, The Mean Green actually took a 7-3 lead before Arkansas finally got some rhythm going on offense. Heisman hopeful Alex Collins scored two TDs in the third quarter to give the Hogs a 17-7 lead entering the final quarter. Arkansas continued to roll in the 4th when Jonathan Williams, playing his first game at WR after moving over from HB in the offseason, caught a 39 yard TD pass from Allen. The Defense got in on the scoring too, as CB DJ Dean broke on an out route and intercepted the pass in stride on his way to a 28 yard interception return TD. North Texas would add another TD late as the backups got some playing time for Arkansas. Redshirt Freshman QB Austin Allen got his first career touchdown pass to finish out the scoring, giving Arkansas a 38-15 margin of victory.
Next week, the Razorbacks will travel to Gainesville for the second year in a row to take on the Gators. The realignment of divisions in the SEC forced this scheduling rarity on the Hogs. Unfortunately, they will be travelling to Alabama for the second year in a row as well this season.

NOT AS CLOSE AS THE SCORE SUGGESTS, BUCKS OPEN WITH WIN
    [IMG]
The Bucks were in the redzone in the fourth quarter threatening to take a commanding 42-21 lead, but with one fell swoop an impressive victory turned into a narrow escape. In his first career start, redshirt freshman JT Barrett fumbled an option pitch, which was returned by Navy for a touchdown to cut the lead to 35-28. It was Barrett's third fumble on the day, but other than that the gun slinger was excellent, completing 17-24 passes for 219 yards and 2 TD. The most impressive Buckeye was Dontre Wilson, who tallied 148 yards rushing and 2 scores on just 11 touches. Wilson leads a group of super sophomores who hope to Ewing Theory their way to a title in absence of Braxton Miller, Philly Brown and Ryan Shazier.

    Game Notes
= JT Barrett was 17-24 for 219 and 2 TD in his first career start, but did fumble 3 times
= Dontre Wilson carried the ball 11 times for an electrifying 148 yards and 2 scores. His longest run of the day was a 74-yard scamper on a jet sweep
= Jalin Marshall had 4 receptions for 63 yards and a score in the Philly Brown slot role
= Devin Smith also had 4 receptions and tallied 105 yards and a score

Nice Recap. Bill Simmons is a good columnist, but I believed he ultimately gaffed on this by calling it the Ewing Theory. The Knicks didn't even win the title that year, they got swept by the Spurs. I would have called it the "Manning Theory" based off Peyton's college career and Tennessee ultimately winning the title with Tee Martin at QB the next season.

    Badgers lose in heartbreaking fashion.....

The badgers lose in the final seconds of the game, I uploaded the video of the play. 54 Yd Hail Mary. I threw 5 INT and countless.... countless passes that were no where close to the WR. One of my INT was because of throwing into coverage the rest were the result of shit passes by my QBs. Sorry for a short recap, got mixed feelings of anger and shock atm.

I think he just named it after the first occurrence he witnessed. It does apply much more to Manning though. Tee Martin, lord.

    CARDINAL SURVIVE IN THE ALAMODOME
    2014-1.png
    13Stan-LSU.jpg
Barry Sanders Jr. runs for a 14-yard TD in the 2nd quarter

Cardinal Thwart Comeback Attempt From Tigers
San Antonio, TX - The Stanford Cardinal looked as this as a opportunity to put the spotlight on the PAC-12. The Tigers were just looking for another big-game win. Despite being highly ranked and LSU unranked, the Tigers were still the prohibitive favorites in this early-season bash. Barry Sanders Jr. would rush for 115 yards and 3 TDs in his first career start, as Stanford held off a late charge by LSU and held on to defeat the Tigers 42-31 in the Alamodome. Stanford held 14-point leads twice in the game, and twice would respond after LSU comebacks.

Stanford's first half of 2013 started just like the season of 2014 ended, on a drive culminating in a Sanders Jr, TD rush. LSU would quickly respond, as All-American Odell Beckhan would get behind the Cardinal defense for a 64 yard score to tie the game. Stanford would come right back, riding the arm of Kevin Hogan. He would connect on all 6 passes on the drive, and Sanders Jr would punch it in from two yards out to put Stanford up seven. The Cardinal defense trying to look much improved from their 2013 showing, would force a Tiger punt, and then two plays later Hogan found freshman phenom TE Adam Jones on a 41-yard TD for his first career score (video on OD). LSU would again respond with a quick-strike drive, going to the receivers before QB Stephen Rivers would run it in from 1 yard out to close the score to 21-14. Stanford's next drive would falter due to sacks, and once again Rivers struck quickly down-field. Beckham would score again on a three yard catch to tie the game. Beckham finished with a game-high 130 receiving yards. Hogan would lead the Cardinal down the field before the end of the half, but Sanders Jr would be stopped on 4th and goal from the 1 as the time ran out on the half.

LSU received the second half kickoff, but due to pressure from DE Henry Anderson, LSU was forced to punt. A 16-yard TD catch from Luke Kaumatule would put Stanford up seven again. A sack-fumble recovery on the next drive would lead to a Ricky Seale TD to put Stanford up 14. The Tigers would again comeback, relying their power running game. Jeremy Hill and Kenny Hilliard would account for 60 yards before Rivers would find WR Travian Dural for a score to close the game to 35-28. Kevin Hogan would be intercepted on his next pass, putting LSU in business. But the Cardinal defense would step up and sack Rivers on 3rd and 6 and forced LSU to resort to FG which was made from 43 yards out to close the game to 35-31 with a little over two minutes to play. LSU would onside kick which was successfully recovered by the Cardinal. Three rushes for 11 yards would force LSU to burn all their timeouts, and Sanders Jr would seal the game on a 18-yard run on the next play to give Stanford and the PAC-12 a much needed win over a high-caliber SEC opponent. Kevin Hogan had a so-so opening game, going 19/25 for 307 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs. Stanford would outgain LSU 444-351 and hold LSU to only 3 for 8 on 3rd downs. Stanford will next get ready to face another strong team, this time from the Big 10 as they face the Penn State Nittany Lions.

ssuwr86 and I had a great game. About the third time we tried to play, that is. First try lasted like 4 plays, next one tossed us after the coin toss, and the last played the whole game until the highlights and then locked up both our PS3's when our screens went black. A very fun game the whole way. Home field advantage played a huge roll in this one, scattering Armstrongs accuracy all over the place. Both of us had key turnovers on bad parts of drives. I had two big fumbles lost while my defense picked him off three times. A big stop late let us stretch the lead to 10, and that was enough to lock the win as Nebraska got it back to 7, but couldn't recover the onside. Great game again, unfortunate that it didn't load back for us. Good luck the rest of the way.
