Week 1: Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams The Cardinals defeated the Rams in the season opener with a score of 45-23. Matt Leinart was named player of the game, passing for over 400 yards with three TDs and one interception. Larry Fitzgerald and Early Doucet combined for over 430 yards and two TDs while RB Tim Hightower also made two endzone appearances. The game remained close through the first three quarters with the Rams' RB Stephen Jackson remaining an ever-present threat, falling just short of the 100 yard mark. Rams' QB Sam Bradford managed to pick apart the holes in the Arizona defense, throwing for over 300 yards and a TD. The Rams gave up three costly turnovers, with one fumble being returned by Cards' linebacker Daryl Washington for six points. The Cardinals are preparing for a much tougher challenge next week when they travel to Atlanta to face Michael Turner and the Falcons.
