Broncos Defense shines in rout of Bengals (AP) Denver, CO - 2 playoff teams from a year ago met up for what had the billings of Game of the Week but the game would not live up to the hype as it got out of hand early on. The Broncos got a glimpse of what they hope is a tandem they will see for years to come as their 1st round draft pick Jamarcus Austin threw a 41 yard TD pass on his 1st NFL pass attempt to Damarius Thomas. Then 2 plays later the Broncos found themselves in the endzone again as Cedric Benson was stripped and Jarvis Moss scooped it up and returned it back 19 yards for a 14-0 Broncos lead. Carson Palmer would then throw 2 INT's on back to back drives where the Broncos would score 2 more TD's where the 2nd one was a pick 6 returned by Zach Bowman and a 28-0 lead. That pass however would be Carson Palmers last pass for the day as the Bengals went to Mike Vick for a spark. The deficit was just too large for the Bengals to overcome as Vick would come in trying to do too much and throwing 2 INT's of his own but did give the Bengals a spark at times with his feet. Vick would hookup with Andre Caldwell on a 15 yard TD pass for the Bengals only TD of the game. The Broncos while not spectacular on offense would go on to win 34-10 as they will now prepare for their hated rivals the San Diego Chargers.
