Despite a poor 1st quarter, Colorado put together two impressive ones to down the BYU Cougars 34-14 in both teams season opener. BYU came out strong behind the lead of RB J J Di Luigi who rushed for almost 2/3’s of his team high 108 yards in the first quarter. Luckily for the Buffs, some key defensive stops kept the tally at 7-0 BYU and that is when Colorado’s offense went to work. Behind the lead of Rodney Stewart and Scotty McKnight touchdowns Colorado went into the half up 17-7

Starting with the ball at the start of the second half, the Buffs continued right where they left off with a 20 yd TD rush by Stewart. The defense found their spark and the game was put away for good by Toney Clemens 41 yd touchdown grab at the end of the third.

Next week the Buffalos are again on the road as they face an extremely tough test in Boise State
