    Indianapolis 47 Houston 41 OT

This game lived up to the expectations and then some. These divisional rivals went at it again this time in Indianapolis. "Not has a season opener meant so much to a teamto as this one did, and I'm proud the way we made plays to win" said 2nd year Coach Grzebielski. This one was a shoot out with both teams gaining 500 yards plus. The defenses did not show up in this one, The Texans ran all over the Colts D opening up the deep balls down the field. For Indy it was all Luck, passing for 4 tds not throwing a single pick. Newly acquired Colt Greg Jennings brought in 3 tds on the day. Indy couldn't get a thing going on the ground. But another new Colt Kevin Smith was able to find the endzone twice, including the winning touchdown in overtime.

With 2 minutes left in the game with a score of 38 all Houston had the ball on a 2nd and short with time running out in field goal range. They would take a 5 yard loss on a sweep play. The next play they would throw a incomplete screen. On 4th down they were able to nail a field goal with 1:09 left on the clock. Andrew Luck then looked very Peyton Manning like driving the Colts down the field completing every pass except for a risky pass to the endzone with 4 seconds on the clock. Adam Vinatieri would then nail the 43 yarder for overtime. Indianapolis would go on to win the toss. Andrew Luck would again drive the Colts all the way down to the 18 where it was 2nd down Colts went to the pistol wich they had been forced out of all day. Andrew Luck would audible to a read option in with he indeed pitched it off to Keep Kevin Smith for the game winning 18yard rush.

    Player of The Game:
    Andrew Luck 25-40 (4tds) (491yrds)

Saints Open Season with Big Win

    Untitled.jpg Untitled2.jpg

The Saints opened the season last night against the visiting Chicago Bears and new their new coach. Some new faces on the field and old few familiar ones too. Brees didn't retire as rumored, and comes back this season with a chip on his shoulder. The Bears defense tried their best to contain the juggernaut which us the New Orleans O, but came up short.

Sproles had a monster game, putting up almost 200 yards on the ground on only 12 attempts. While Brees had a conservative 11 for 15, enjoying his new targets in Ramses Barden and rookie Greg Little. The Bears had a tough day on the ground, but surprisingly found success in the air against a revamped Saints secondary.

The additions of Dominique Rogers-Cromartie, Mike Jenkins and Trumaine Brock changed the entire landscape of the New Orleans defense. Allowing veteran CB Jabari Greer to move to free safety occasionally. And giving rookie DE Kirk and vet Marquez Wilson more time to pressure the QB. The Nawlins "bend but don't break" style of D still allowed Cutler to put up almost 400 yards passing, but secured the win nonetheless.

Great game Whatspeakyou, and welcome to the league!

Tom Brady, Patriots beat Peyton Manning, Broncos

The usually high intensity New England Patriots came out in the beginning looking like a team who needed a few more weeks in training camp and preseason. You could see how frustrated the Patriots sideline was getting when Tom Brady threw two huge interceptions inside the red zone. You could tell Brady was still getting used to his weapons on offense, and the timing of the routes. Peyton Manning stuck early on a missed coverage by the Patriots aggressive defense. Manning threw a quick out to his TE, where the CB went for the interception instead of knocking it down and had no help as the tight end took what should have been a 5 yard gain for a 98 scamper for a touchdown. That would be it for the Broncos until late in the 4th quarter as the Patriots defense made adjustments and shut down the Broncos offense from that point on.

The Patriots came out in the second half firing on all cylinders and with all the first game butterflies long gone the scored 28 points unanswered. Brady hooked up with Rob Gronkowski and rookie Calvin White for scores. The Patriots also had a outstanding first performance from newly aquired CJ Spiller who ran the ball for 128 yards on 15 carries and had a touchdown.

The story of the day would have to be the new look of the New England Patriots defense led by Derrell Revis, who had 2 interceptions on the day, and almost had a few others. This defense with Chandler Jones, Vince Wilfork and rookie end Vlad "The Big & Bad" Johnson rushing the quarterback and being comfortable in both man or zone coverages. The defense held star Demarco Murray to 34 yards on 16 attempts.

The pieces that were missing for last years Super Bowl run appear to be in place, but anything can happen in the NFL. The Miami Dolphins can tell you that.

The Patriots have a huge matchup coming in the next few weeks against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which looks to be a game for the ages. The one thing that the Steelers offense has is experience, which this young Patriots offense does not have. Look for Gronkowski to be a factor, and for Brady to slow the pace of the game and limit possessions.

    Minnesota Vikings- 41 v. 35 -Oakland Raiders
Rookie quarterback Bubba Jones, of Michigan State,
wins first career start against the up and coming Oakland Raiders.
No one could have guessed that a rookie quarterback, would come in and knock, what seemed to be the undisputed starter in Christian Ponder, out of the starting position coming into this season. But that's exactly what happened and Bubba Jones is making the most of it. Despite only making 10 passing attempts in the game, Jones was able to complete 70% of his passes including 3 TD's. Two of those being a pair of 79 yard bombs to both Mike Williams and Percy Harvin. Rookie wideout Carlos Rich also got into the action with a 41 yard TD reception of his own. A very impressive performance in his first start.

With all that being said, Adrian Peterson proved why he was voted as the NFC's best running back a year ago, running for 169 yards on just 15 carries and 2 TD. Once again the league will have to keep on eye on this stud running back as he tears up defenses with reckless abandon. Speaking of studs, Darren McFadden had himself another MVP performance rushing for 210 yards on 25 carries and a TD, continuing his rise as being one of the premier backs in the NFL. Terrell Pryor played sub-par to his stellar season a year ago throwing 2 picks and managing just 137 yards against a young secondary, raising questions as to whether Pryor can handle the pressure of living up to Raiders fans expectations. Only time will tell, but I fully expect to see these two playing January football.

Miami takes down Bills behind strong D

This game was a very back and forth game. Defense showed up on both sides, both D's picking off the ball 3 times. The key moment came late in the 4th quarter with 1:45 left, game was tied 21-21 and Buffalo had the ball. Fitzpatrick dropped pack aiming for Aaron Hernandez, William Moore was able to jump the route and take it for a pick six. Giving the Dolphins a 28-21 lead. The Bills weren't done there though, Fitzpatrick took them all the way down to the 25 yard line. With 25 seconds left Fitzpatrick threw his 3rd pick to Sean Smith to seal up the game for the Dolphins. Dolphins turns their focus to their week 2 matchup the Jets.
