Kansas Squeaks Past Arizona in OT
    Kansas 49
    Arizona 42

Kansas couldn’t get much going in the 1st half as their running game struggled all game vs. Arizona. Down 21-13 at half, Kansas was in decent position until Jordan Webb threw a pick-6 on their 1st drive, allowing Arizona to take a 28-13 lead. The teams swapped TD’s and Arizona led 35-21 at the end of the 3rd. After and Arizona TD to go up 21, Kansas returned the next kickoff making it a game again. After a pick and a score, Kansas kicked it deep with 2:28 left down 7. Arizona was able to run off some clock and punted down to the Kansas 9 with about 30 seconds remaining and KU had 1 timeout remaining. After an incompletion, Webb and Jackson made the play of the game. Webb spotted 1-on-1 coverage on the outside and decided to just lob it up to give his WR Jackson a shot downfield. The defended tipped the ball, but it was right into Jackson’s hands and he was able to haul it in and ran about 60 more yards past defenders to tie it up with 0:11 remaining (video on DW). Kansas scored on the 1st possession in OT and picked off Arizona to seal the win. Kansas’s running game was awful as the 2 running backs ran 19 times for just 45 yards.

Jordan Webb (QB)- 18-34 for 377 yards, 2 TD, 3 INT, 23 rush yards
Darrian Miller (HB)- 10 carries for 29 yards
Anthony Pierson (HB)- 9 carries for 16 yards, 2 TD
Marquis Jackson (WR)- 4 receptions for 123 yards, TD
Chris Omigie (WR)- 6 receptions for 111 yards
Darius Willis (MLB)- 9 tackles, TFL, FF
Kevin Young (DT)- 8 tackles, 4 sacks

Texas routs New Mexico State in a laugher. This one started out interesting. We are going with a new playbook in Texas, a modified version of the LSU book and we had a little difficulty in the first half leaving the score at 3-3. The second half was all Texas, as we figured out how these sliders played, and more importantly this playbook. The defense was lights out the whole game, and accounted for 4 sacks, 1 INT and held New Mexico State to 200 yards of offense. The team's performance was sparked by returner extraordinaire, HB Andy Porter with 150 yards returning, and 1 TD.

The schedule gets a little harder as next week, we travel to Ole Miss before two straight byes during prime recruiting season. Thanks schedule makers for that! :p

FSU starts out season with 42-10 win over Nebraska
#6 Nebraska visited Tallahassee to open the 2013 season and left with their tails between their legs. New QB Clint Trickett had a dominating performance going 10/15 for 265 yards and 4 touchdowns. 223 of those yards and 3 touchdowns went his starting wide receivers Kenny Shaw and Greg Dent who both had excellent games.
FSU opened the scoring with a 5 yard run from new starter James Wilder. Cornhusker QB Brion Carnes used his legs and arm to lead his offense down the field and scored on a scramble from 6 yards out. It was all FSU from there as the Seminoles went on a 35-3 run to end the game. The defense sacked Carnes 6 times and forced 3 turnovers and were lead by DT Demonte McAllister who had 6 tackles, 2 sacks and a forced fumble.
Next week FSU will hope to play a poor host to the Auburn Tigers.
