The Giants came in as the favorites over the Redskins who weren't supposed to do much of anything this season. Both teams started off rusty passing the ball with the rain and players trying to get on the same page as the Quarterbacks. Washing started the scoring first with a 10 yard run by Torain. Following the kickoff the Giants answered with an 83 yard run by Bradshaw on the first play of the series. After a 45 yard field goal the Giants defense came through by getting a safety sacking Rex Grossman in the endzone. The Redskins didn't let their fans down and forced the Giants to a 3 and out and scored on a 6 yard run by Hightower. The Giants finished off the half on a high note with a 24 yard FG by Tynes with no time remaining. The 3rd quarter was all Giants with them mostly sticking to the running game that led to two 3 yard runs by Brandon Jacobs both times. Bradshaw got injured shortly into the 3rd quarter with an abdominal strain and was sidelined by the training staff for the rest of the game as a precautionary measure. The Giants defense really showed their strength in the 3rd forcing two 3 and outs on the redskins. In the 4th the Giants finally got some life from Eli with the highlight being a 52 yard pass to Nicks. The Giants then got another 3 and out on Washington but the Skins relentless D finally got to Eli and forced a fumble and returned it 68 yards by McIntosh. The Giants then turned to their run game which ate up most of the clock and finished with an amazing punishing 21 yard run by Jacobs. The Giants limited Rex Grossman to 94 yards and 1 INT and only allowing 127 on the ground. Giants had an astonishing 537 yards on offense, with 242 passing and 295 on the ground.
