    Rams Open With A Shocker

The opening of the 2011 season saw a great game in St. Louis and a stunning comeback by the Rams.

The Rams got the ball at the start of the game but Sam Bradford would end up throwing a pick to Nnamdi Asomugha at around midfield. The Eagles made quick work of their possession though as they moved down the field and Reggie Bush would score a 10 yard TD off of a pass from Vick. The Rams would get the ball back but on their very first play of this possession, Bradford would throw another INT. This time to newly acquired Vontae Davis who would return it to the house giving the Eagles a 14-0 lead.

The Rams would start to settle down offensively after that and just moved methodically down the field. They weren't threatening for TDs but it was an improvement and would end up settling for a 43 yard FG from Josh Brown. The Rams defense would also start to step it up and would force a 3-n-Out on the Eagles next possession and then the Rams offense was back at it just trying to move the chains. The result? Another FG from Brown. It was now 14-6.

The Eagles would accomplish nothing offensively yet again and would punt it back to the Rams giving them a short field to work with. This time though, the Rams were able to get some bigger plays and Stephen Jackson would end up punching in the Rams first TD of the game. The Rams would only go for 1 though to make it 14-13. The Eagles would get the ball to around midfield on their next possession but would end up punting for a touchback with under a minute left in the half.

After 3 straight scoring drives, the Rams decided to try and move the ball for some points but this would be a mistake. Bradford would throw his 3rd INT of the half around midfield, this time to Joselio Hanson, with just enough time for the Eagles to try and position themselves for a FG attempt. And that they did. The Eagles were able to setup and connect on a 47 yard FG from Henery making it 17-13 at the half.

The Eagles would get the ball at the start of the 2nd half, and again, they wouldn't do much with it and would punt it back to the Rams. This time however, Donnie Avery got nailed while catching the punt and would fumble it. Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie would pick it up and return it for a TD and a 24-13 lead.

The 2 teams would go back and forth on the next few possessions but then the passing game would start to open up for the Rams. Bradford would connect on a short pass to Donnie Avery that Avery would take 50 yards for a TD with 40 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. The highlight of this play goes to Mike Sims-Walker for his excellent down field blocking. The Rams would go for 2 this time though and were unsuccessful making it 24-19.

The Eagles would make an excellent play call to start off their next possession. The Rams were bringing a heavy blitz but the Eagles had a screen play ready for it. FB Owen Schmitt would take it 55 yards into the Rams' red zone. Shortly afterward, Reggie Bush would punch it in for a TD pushing their lead to 31-19 with just 5:50 left in the game.

The Rams wouldn't go one-dimensional with their offense though and forced the Eagles to respect the run even with the lead. Mike Sims-Walker would have a huge play on this drive though as he beat Asomugha deep for the first time in the game and Bradford placed the ball perfectly for him making it a 44 yard play through the air. A few plays later, Stephen Jackson would run in his 2nd TD of the game with 4:12 left cutting it to 31-26.

With all 3 timeouts remaining, the Rams opted to kick it off and see if their defense could hold the Eagles and force the punt. That didn't happen though. The Eagles were able to move the ball. However, with under 3 minutes to go, Vick would connect on a deep pass to Bush and Bush got nailed immediately by ex-Eagle, Quintin Mikell, forcing a fumble that was recovered by Rams OLB Zac Diles around the Rams 25 yard line.

The Rams would start to move the ball down the field but the Eagles would get them to a 4th down around midfield. A stop here would've meant a likely victory for the Eagles but Bradford would connect with Sims-Walker to get just enough for a 1st down. A few plays later, the Rams had a 1st goal with 2 timeouts remaining and Jackson was able to run in his 3rd TD of the game. This gave the Rams a 32-31 lead with just 25 seconds remaining - their first lead of the game. They would go for 2 but were unsuccessful yet again. The Eagles would attempt to get into FG range but were unable to do anything as time ran out.
