Nebraska starts out the season with a 38-21 victory. Taylor Martinez led an efficient offense going 10-13 through the air with 203 yds and 3 tds with one int. He added another 49 yds on the ground. Heisman Hopeful Rex Burkhead had a good day rushing with 18 carries for 175 yds and 2 tds with a couple catches for another 20 yds. Will Compton lead the defense with 3 sacks on the day.

Looked a little shaky for a bit but I guess that's what I get for playing my game after too many beers.

The Seminoles take down inter-state rival UCF in their home/season opener 48-13. EJ Manuel would have a very solid start going 18-29 throwing for 274 yards and 3 tds. Devonta Freeman would have a solid outing as well putting up 122 yards on 16 carries and 1 score. The defense showed up in dominating fashion with AA ends Werner and Jenkins accounting for 5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.

    Great start for FSU

    #15 Virginia Tech: 20
    Georgia Tech: 10

Virginia Tech manages to win a defensive game in Atlanta against Georgia Tech. Defense dominated the day as both teams were bottled up. VT QB Logan Thomas struggled to find players open all day. RB Michael Holmes chipped away at the GT defense and ended up leading the VT offense over star QB Logan Thomas. The true MVP(s) of the game are the VT front 7. They contained GT all day and stopped their option offense in the backfield all day. Hopefully the VT passing game wakes for next week's game against Wisconsin.

    Comeback Falls Short
Heels Lose Home Opener to #21 Boise State
Carolina's defense starts very sluggish and spots the Broncos 28 points in the first half, QB Bryn Renner almost leads the Tar Heels to a comeback victory. UNC looked headed for a blow out loss, down 28-0 late in the 2nd half, but the offense arose from its slumber to put together two quick TD drives to pull to within 14 points at halftime. The Heels continued to chip away at Boise State's lead in the 2nd half, but fell short on their final drive. After the game, UNC got some additional bad news when they found out that starting HB Giovani Bernard would out for the next 6 weeks with injury.
Next week, the Tar Heels travel to Wake Forest for their ACC opener.
