Are you ready for some football!?!?!

Its been a fun (long to some lol) offseason and now you get to see the fruits of your labor.

There are a lot of questions to be answered and a lot of stories to be told. I can't wait to see how it plays out!

We finished up great last year and everyone really came together. I'd say stat-wise we were among the best on TSO (if not THE best). Let's keep that rolling. We are sticking with 7 min quarters like we ran last year and the same CPU sliders that were challenging everyone. Let's show TSO how these boys in the VFL get down, sim style!

Rookie Phenom WR Akia Green promises strong start; Proclaims Nickname
    [IMG]
San Diego, CA - Perhaps the biggest surprise of the preseason in all of the NFL, was rookie WR Akia Green, who showed all the makings a #1 WR and his explosive big play ability. Green who is not short on confidence had this to say:
"Preseason was my appetizer, i hope y'all are ready for the main course. I can promise you that the Patriots are sleeping on the kid, and they get to see up close and personal why my nickname is Silverback. Akia "Silverback" Green. Bringing the alpha male to a field near you" said Green "The Patriots defense is Charmin soft. Watch me eat all day Sunday, take a Silverback sh#t, then wipe my backside with their starting CB's"
Green also nicknamed his hands "The Hood Glue Traps", referencing the glue traps his mother used to put on their floors because of a mouse problem. "Anything thrown at The Hood Glue Traps get pulled in. You can count on that like a check on the 1st and the 15th" Green chimed.
Indeed as kickoff to the season looms, the Chargers have reloaded and seem primed for another run at the playoffs, and Green seems to be a big part of why. Only time will tell, but this rookie WR sure seems to think it's only a matter of time.

    Vikings Insider

The Draft - Four Months Later

The preseason is over and the final roster cuts have been made. It is time to take a look back at the Vikings 2013 draft and see what the future holds for many of the 11 picks the Vikings made in April.

    2nd (10th) - QB Brett Ray (WVU) 6-3 239

Ray was a reach pick in the 2nd round as he was projected to go late in the 4th. However, Minnesota saw a lot in the West Virginia QB and decided they did not want to risk missing him. So far Ray has looked good (although inconsistent) and the team is already grooming him to replace Kurt Warner when he retires (again). It appears as though the Christian Ponder era is over in Minnesota.

    2nd (20th) - MLB Christian Shepherd (MSU) 6-1 240

Shepherd surprised a lot of people in the Vikings organization during the preseason. Minnesota acquired Colin McCarthy in the Jared Allen trade and he was expected to take over their middle linebacker duties. Shepherd played his way into starting consideration and could ultimately wind up as the team's MLB of the future.

    3rd (3rd) - OLB LaCraig Middlebrook (Syr) 6-2 237

Middlebrook was another surprise during the preseason. He received a lot of playing time with Chad Greenway sitting and made the most of it. There are some around the Vikings camp that said they would be comfortable going into the season with Shepherd as a starter if needed. That says a lot about about the former Syracuse star.

    3rd (20th) - WR Reginald Thomas (Wisc) 5-11 190

When Thomas was drafted it looked like the Vikings has acquired another Percy Harvin type player. However, after watching him in the preseason, it appears as though Thomas would be more Wes Welker than Harvin. Thomas doesn't have the breakaway speed and playmaking ability that Harvin possesses. What he does have is a solid grasp of the position and enough speed to separate from defenders when needed. Most teams would prefer two of their top receivers to be a little taller, but Thomas and Harvin could form a very deadly duo for the Vikings in the coming years, both on short passes and from the deep ball.

    3rd (31st) - CB Adonis Mack (Wyo) 6-1 187

This is the first player the Vikings drafted who is not considered a starter (yet). Mack has above average coverage skills and good speed. He is very raw but he has the core skills that could land him significant playing time with some experience.

    4th (13th) - DE Kooper Cosbert (Idaho) 6-4 290

Cosbert was another reach for the Vikings. NFL draft pundits doubted Cosbert would even be drafted and made very poignant cases for why he should not be. The Vikings weren't convinced though and took the former WWE star in the 4th round. It was a big gamble but one with a lot of upside should they be able to groom the former Idaho product.

    4th (22nd) - OLB Jimmy Brown (Lou) 6-3 235

Brown nearly missed the cut in the final roster cutdown. However, the Vikings like his skill set and think he has the potential to develop into a productive player, especially on special teams. You would probably like a little more from your 4th rounders but if he develops quickly it could turn into a decent pick.

    6th (13th) - HB Darren Lyons (ECU) 6-1 197

Lyons is a bit undersized which led to many teams ranking him very lowly on their draft boards. But the former East Carolina Pirate has tremendous speed, can catch the bal out of the backfield and has shown some ability as a return man. There is already talk around Vikings headquarters that Toby Gerhart could be on the way out to make room for the shifty speed back.

    6th (23rd) - DE Kileon Mitchell (Wisc) 6-5 279

Mitchell could very well become the steal of the draft. While there were certainly a lot of great picks late in the draft, Mitchell could be among the best of the group. He led the Vikings with an astonishing 6 sacks in the preseason and seemed to dominate every time he was in. The forgotten man from Wisconsin is behind some quality ends in Brian Robison and Derrick Morgan. But he has all the skills to become a Justin Tuck type player (but with even better speed).

Also looks like there was a shoot out in Arizona with the Cardinals and Lions combining for 98 points and 728 passing yards.

Looking forward to the game summaries.

You know, I hadn't even scouted him. Nobody I had scouted was left on the board so I took a flyer on him and lucked out. I was pleasantly surprised :)
