nice work drunken..
The Syracuse Orangemen (0-1) traveled to Moscow, Idaho to begin the season playing the Idaho Vandals (1-0)
The Vandals took the field to start the season with great anticipation, looking to see how their young defense would handle the invading Orangemen of Syracuse. The Vandals prepared well for this game and forced Syracuse to punt on their first three possessions. On offense, the Vandals had the pleasant surprise to find inexperienced SR QB Brian Reader placing the ball with incredible touch and accuracy. Reader stole the show in the first qtr throwing for two TD's and completing 4 of 4 passes.
End of 1st qtr score : Idaho 14 Syracuse 00
The Vandals young defense continued to play beyond expectations forcing several more punts in the 2nd qtr. The game went from a dominating performance to a blow out alert mid way thru this 2nd qtr. After taking a 21-0 lead on a 6 yd HB plunge... the Vandals defense forced a fumble which was scooped up by 2nd year saftey Chaz Cook who easily outran his would be tacklers on the way to a 68 yd fumble return. Here is the highlite :
The Vandals continued their highlites, next with SR star WR; Preston Davis who caught his first pass of the season, shed a tackler, juked another, and sped off for a 55 yd receiving TD. The Idaho special teams then got in on the fun. Another forced fumble when 4 star FR / SS recruit J. Moses connected on a Kick off coverage big hit... jarring the ball loose and setting more points for Idaho. Here is that highlight :
HALF TIME : Idaho 38 Syracuse 07
The Vandals took the field in the 2nd half looking to control the ball and run the ball. Player of the game, QB Brian Reader, shocked the entire stadium when a broken option play found him running free for a 50 yd score. Reader had every intention of pitching the ball, but stepped upfield to avoind an option stuff, shed a tackler and had nothing but green in front of him. 50 yds later, the Sr QB capped the longest QB run in Vandal history and dismissed any doubt he would be player of the game. Here is that highlight :
End of 3rd qtr score : Idaho 52 Syracuse 17
Syracuse outscored Idaho in this qtr. which included a 61 yd pass to finally crack the Vandal defense who turned in a solid performance even though they gave up 31 pts. Sr Vandal HB Princeton McCarty capped a huge day with a 52 yd - broken tackle - run for a TD.
The Vandals biggest surprise on the day was the hard hitting of their defense. They shook the ball loose on two big hits and knocked out 5 Syracuse players thoughout the game. The Vandals were also pleasantly surprised by SR QB Reader who placed the ball with incredible touch throughout the day.
FINAL SCORE - Idaho 59 Syracuse 31

Auburn Loses to CSU 24-7
On a raining August night at Jordan Hare stadium The War Eagle faced off vs the Rams..
CSU got the ball to start and pounded the core of the auburn defense, driving deep into Auburn territory, but Defensive star Niko Thorpe picked off Kubiack's pass but was ran down.. the Auburn offense would stall out and forced to punt.. CSU would drive down and settle for a FG... Auburn would come back and answer with a solid drive them selves with Darrah running in from 11yards out.. 7-3 Auburn... BUt the Tigers would not keep the lead long... CSU would drive down the field and knock in a TD from 1 yard out..
Auburn did not fair any better when Darrah would throw 2 INTs and later be injured. No News has been released on his condition.. CSU would start nailing the coffin shut on the Tigers when CSU punched in another 2 yard TD from Stewart with just 9seconds left in the 3rd. 17-7. The 4th qtr would not go well for Auburn as another turnover would seal the fates. CSU hammered the door shut when Greenwood plowed in from 7yards out..
CENTRAL MICHIGAN STARTS SEASON WITH BIG WIN OVER RUTGERS 34-28
CENTRAL MICHIGAN STARTS SEASON WITH BIG WIN OVER RUTGERS 34-28
Senior Halfback Bryan Schroeder charged the CMU offense with 210 yards rushing.
The Central Michigan Chippewas won a game they probably shouldn't had. The game consisted of little defense and was more of a sluggin match to find out who could score the most. Senior Hb and preseason 2nd Team All-American, Bryan Schroeder had an incredible day rushing for 210 yards, ultimately leading CMU to victory.
The Chippys Offense was led once again, by Schroeder who played almost the entire game because of the tight score. Backup Lorenzo White did get 4 carries for 19 yards in his relief. Senior QB Derek Rifenbury passed for 183 yards on 15 completions with 22 attempts with 1 TD. His main target was Preseason All-Evolution and All-MAC TE Charlie Hoch who caught 5 passes for 74 yards. Converted HB to WR, Paris Cotton caught 3 passes for 21 yards with CMU's only receiving TD.
CMU's defense was led Senior Captain Landon Carter who had 7 tackles and 2 TFL. DE Devon Jordan added 3 tackles on the line and FS Paul Johnson had 7 tackles. The defense was unable to sack Rutgers or force a turnover.
The Central Michigan Chippewas (1-0,0-0) now travel to Auburn (0-1,0-0) to face Coach T2Express and his new vice the Auburn Tigers. Coach T2express is fresh off of a National Title with purdue. This will be a good early test for Central Michigan to see how they will fair before they return to the North for MAC play.
Nevada has a bye week
Kansas vs NIU
NIU starts the season off with a big victory over The Kansas Jayhawks. The first qtr saw NIU take a 14-7 lead after 2 rushing td's by RB Meco Brown. One from 2 yds out and the other from 1 yd out.
The second qtr, each team went back and forth. Ku struck first with a 31 yd pass from K. Pick to J. Burnette. NIU would respond the very next series with a kickoff return for a td by Riley O'Toole of 99 yds. Ku would score a field goal with 1:27 remaining before the half to cut the score to 21-17. NIU would run the 2 min offense to perfection. Driving the length of the field in just 1:12 to score a passing td from Chandler Harnish to Martel Moore, to take a 28-17 lead.
The defense of NIU buckled down in the second half; allowing KU only 3 points the entire half. The NIU offense lead by Meco Brown (28 car for 125 yds, 4 td's) scored the final 17 points of the contest to cruise to a convincing victory over a good opponent in KU.
