Week 1: Steelers 23 Browns 20 Nothin like a division game for your first game back. New Coach Savaunte welcomed BOM86 and his Cleveland Browns to start off season 3 with a tuff, tuff game. 1st quarter Steelers win the toss and elect to play defense first. Browns didnt hide what they were all about. A tuff physical team that wants to run the ball and run it some more. Steelers D was able to force a punt. Steelers offense would gain a few yards and pick-up a few 1st downs until they got to the Browns 32 yd line. Browns D stuffed the Steelers there and forced a FG attempt. Kicker J.Reed couldnt get his leg into it and the kick came up way short. Browns would take over with good field position but couldnt get much going. Browns punter would pin the Steelers deep in their own end. Coach Savaunte tried to catch the Browns off-gaurd by calling a pass, but SS Jones stepped in front of the pass and returned it 24 yds for the TD. 2nd quarter Steelers couldnt get much going due to a suffocating Browns defense. The Browns offense was also playing well. They got into FG range and unlike the Steelers kicker, the Browns J.Daniels nailed his 39 yd attempt to increase their lead to, 10-0. Browns D again shut down the Steelers and would give the ball back to their offense. They would not waste the oppertunity to score again either. Facing a 3rd and long, QB Marrow found Robiskie up the sidelines to put the Browns in the Red-Zone. A few players later Thomas Jones was running into the endzone from 7 yds out to put the Browns up 17-0. Next drive was crucial for the Steelers, they had to score. Facing a 3rd down themselves, newly aquired QB Jamarcus Russell finally found an open WR in Santonio Holmes who took it 56 yds for a Steelers TD and back into the game. Steelers would get the ball back and put more points up with a 35 yd FG from Reed. Under 2 minutes to go in first half the Browns were able to drive the length of the field and get into FG range. Daniels would hit from 42 yds out to end the half. Browns 20 Steelers 10 3rd quarter The 3rd quarter started with a nice Steelers drive, maybe their best drive of the game. Coach was mixing up the plays trying to keep the Browns guessing. For the most part it worked and the Steelers capped off their drive with a Larry Johnson 1 yd TD run to get the Steelers to with in 3 points, 20-17. Steelers D would shut-out the Browns in the 3rd quarter to set up an exciting 4th quarter. 4th quarter Steelers defense still playing lights out, keeping the Browns on their own side of the 50. While the defense was playing better, the offense found its rythum as well. Steelers O would do just enough to get int J.Reeds range for a 30 FG that tied the game at 20 all. Steelers were lookin to put the game away with a nice long, time consuming drive. Steelers were faced with a 3rd and long and they were on the edge of being close enough for Reed to try another FG. Steelers let the clock run down to 2 minutes. Coach called a pass but Russell didnt see pro bowl LB London Fletcher and he threw it right to him. Browns would waste no time, coming out passing and hurry up offense. Things were lookin bleak for the Steelers and very bright for the Browns, until Safety J.Parker jumped a route and picked off Morrow to give the Steelers a chance. Russell and the offense took the field with under a minute to go. Russell lead his team down the field with some nice passes and Parker picked up a 1st down on a 3rd and long on a screen pass. Russell would hit M.Wallace in the middle of the field and watch him take it down to the Browns 15 yd line with 2 seconds to play. Reed would come out and nail the 32 yd FG and give coach savaunte and his Steelers their first victory of the season. Great Game BOM86.....See ya in Cleveland later this year.
