VOLS EAK OUT UGLY WIN AGAINST PTT, 10-7
OFFENSE OFFICIALLY SET BACK 20 YEARS

Tennessee and Pitt staged an early season thriller for the 3rd consecutive season. Neither offesne could get much going against stingy defenses. The Vol's knew coming into this season the loss of Bray, Rogers and Hunter would limit them in the early goings. They decided to put the game into Sr HB Marlin Lane's hands to keep the Pitt offense off the field. Lane accounted for 74% of the Vol offense with his 134 yards rushing.
Defensively, Tennessee was able come up with 4 INT's that proved to be the difference in the game. Soph CB Sam West made his first collegiate start a memorable one with 2 picks, taking one back for UT's only TD of the game. The Vol front 7 were able to hold Pitt's super stud HB Bennett to under 80 yards on 20 carries.
The Vols could have tacked on a FG at the end but decided to take a knee on 4th down inside the red zone. With under 5 seconds left, Coach Fulmer decided it was best force Pitt to convert a Hail Mary from 80+ yards away than risk a kickoff return. The pass was swatted down and the Vols' celebrated a huge win and avenged last year's heartbreaking loss to the Panthers.

    Tigers Earn Another

Clemson is buzzing following a 52-20 win over Purdue.
The Clemson Tigers travel to Purdue to face the Boilermakers and leave with an impressive victory over their Big 10 opponent. With the departure of QB Tajh Boyd to the NFL, Clemson had a big question mark at that position. Not for lack of talent, but for inexperience. Boyd was pretty durable during his stint in Clemson, which didn't allow many other players to get sufficient playing time. Getting the start, RS freshman Chad Hall lived up to the hype. The freshman signal caller completed 13 of his 19 passing attempts for 171yds and 4 td's. He seemed poised beyond his years and helped his team to a complete first game victory. The Tigers also used a multitude of runners in the run game. Three HB's for the Tigers combined for over 170yds rushing and 2 td's. MLB Stephone Anthony lead his team with 6 solo stops and a tfl.
