    Michigan Hangs on Against Sparty

The Wolverines rolled in to East Lansing determined to put "Little Brother" back in his place. It would be a tough battle as MSU was ranked 11th and rolling at 6-1 on the year. The Spartans owe most of that success to the powerful run game of Riley Bullough. Riley punished the Wolverines front seven who had been ranked as high as #1 in the nation against the run. Bullough would end the contest with 19 carries for 150 yards and 1 TD. Michigan's offense sputtered and needed the big play ability of Dennis Norfleet. Norfleet started his day with a second half kickoff return that put Michigan back ahead. In the 3rd, Norfleet snagged a pass in double coverage and stumbled into the endzone for whatt would be the eventual winning score. The defense held on as State would keep relying on the running game despite needing to score late in the forth.
