EMU 49- San Jose State 24

San Jose State was a tougher opponent for EMU than most expected. The Spartans had a very powerful running back in Derek White who ran the ball 20 times for 131 yards and 2 TD's. The game was actually 14-14 at halftime and SJSU even had a 17-14 lead before EMU took over in the second half with the powerful running game of Brandon Harmon and Charlie Vaughn. Harmon ran the ball 30 times for 282 yards and 4 TD's. Vaughn ran the ball 15 times for 154 yards and 2 TD's. The Eagles now enter their final three conference games needing just one for a .500 season. However, two years ago when the Eagles had a similar opportunity they had to play three very good teams in Utah State, Kent State and Army. That same trio meets the Eagles in the coming weeks.

Wheres the predictions ladies? Some big showdowns in the west and east this week.

    I'm goin like this:
Idaho and Fever show Redd they don't appreciate the West smack talk.
WMU is too much in the end but Kent plays Nik his closest game of the season again.
UAB over ULM in the west as Kyle has hit his stride as of late (and I don't even know if party boy John Gait is back from his trip).
USU and ULL, goin with USU just because the coin I flipped landed on heads. Should be a close one.
Army vs WKU. Army is tanking, and DCD is rolling so far this season.

    WKU-38
    Army-35

Glad to finally get this FMF's stepdad off my back.

We jumped out to an early 17-0 lead thanks in part to a 1st quarter scoop and score by ILB Gary Gates. Army was then able to score 21 of the next 28 points scored to pull within 3. The score was 24-21 to start the 4th quarter but Hammer couldn't get a stop and that 3 point differential lasted til the final whistle to give WKU their first win over Army since 2013.

    POTG-Corey Douglas RB
    22 CAR 191 YDS 8.6 AVG 2 TD

This WKU team has already beaten the school record for regular season wins with 10 and can only improve on that in the next few weeks.

Utah State RUNS OVER UL Lafayette 52-24

Before the Ragin' Cajuns new what hit them, the score was 35-3. USU held a 35-10 lead at half, with HB Billy McClain rushing 11 times for 200 yards and 4 TDs in TWO quarters. Coleman had thrown only 3 passes, completing 2 for 94 yards. Utah State finished the game with 324 rushing yards on 31 carries. McClain: 18 carries-211 yards, 4 TDs. Robinson: 11 carries- 121 yards, 2 TDs.

USU's first play from scrimmage went for a 78 yard TD run by Billy McClain. After holding ULL to a field goal, a 50 yard run lead to another TD. ULL missed a field goal, and 2 plays later Tyron Coleman connected to TE Matt Alvarez for a 72 yard TD. The Aggie D forced a 3 n out, and McClain took a 45 yard run inside the 10 to set up a TD. An INT put USU inside the 5 for another TD rush, making the score 35-3. ULL got a TD before half to make it 35-10 but it got worse in the 3rd. USU opened with a 3:30 drive leading to a FG. ULL fumbled the ensuing kick return, and two plays later Jason Robinson went for a 28 yard run. ULL would score 2 tds to bring it to 45-24, but were held from getting any closer. With 50 seconds left in the game, Jason Robinson put the cherry on top with a 68 yard TD run all the way between the hash-marks untouched.

Utah State improves to 7-3 with Eastern Michigan coming to town for the Aggies final home game of the season. ULL drops to 5-5; 1-5 in the conference.

    1:00 FG Western Michigan Terrance Campbell K #6 18 Yd FG (10-0)
    2nd Quarter:
7:47 TD Kent State Jeremy Rice CB #48 33 Yd Interception (7-10)
1:59 TD Western Michigan Anthony Jones WR #12 57 Yd Pass from Bill Alford QB #11 (17-7)
    3rd Quarter:
3:07 TD Kent State Kevin Davidson QB #14 8 Yd TD Rush (14-17)
2:38 TD Western Michigan Jared Jones WR #10 52 Yd Pass from Bill Alford QB #11 (24-14)
3:07 TD Kent State Eric Archer HB #33 3 Yd TD Rush (21-24)
    4th Quarter:
6:48 TD Western Michigan Glen Burns WR #80 8 Yd Pass from Bill Alford QB #11 (31-21)
4:37 TD Kent State Juan Kent WR #85 7 Yd Pass from Kevin Davidson QB #14 (28-31)

MVP: WMU QB Bill Alford 11/16 306 Yards 4 TDs

The Turning Point: Late in the 4th quarter the Kent State defense forced a 3 and out dropping Western Michigan QB Bill Alford two consecutive plays the last occurring on his own 5. Kent State had the ball with under 4 minutes to play and a chance to tie or take the lead and had just completed a catch and run deep into Western Michigan territory. The laundry on the field indicated otherwise and Kent State had a 2nd and 18 and after two straight incompletion's they were forced to punt. They wouldn't get the ball back after the Broncos picked up two first downs and Coach Qwon was just left to wonder what could have been.

Keys To The Game: It's hard to say anything was key as the game was so even but the Yards per pass was a huge difference as Alford went 11/16 with 19.13 YPP while Kent State QBs combined to go 22/38 with 8.55 YPP.

Looking Ahead: At #3 Miami in a game that could potentially vault me into NC contention.

That fucking holding penalty came with 2:30 left in the game and i would have been down around his 30...The game was mine for the taking... That was also the only penalty of the entire game.
