    Week 10: Chiefs (17) Broncos (10)

The Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos played a hard fought slugfest involving some long time of possession drives which resulted in only 6 possessions for each team and a Chiefs 17-10 win. This game was a strategical war down to the final minute. Here is a quick summary of the game.

    1st Quarter
The Broncos received the opening kickoff and marched down the field mostly behind the hard running of Correll Buckhalter. On 4th and inches from the 7 yard line, FB Justin Green took it in for the TD to give the Broncos a 7-0 lead. The Chiefs followed that up with a nice drive of their own which resulted in a 1st and Goal at the Broncos 1 yard line. The Chiefs were absolutely stuffed up the middle on 3 straight downs before Jammal Charles took a sweep on 4th and Goal from inside the 1 and scored to make it 7-7.

    2nd Quarter
The Broncos took their next possession down the field with a very similar drive as the opening drive and decide to try and convert on another 4th and Inches inside the Chiefs 15 yard line. This time the Chiefs got plenty of penetration up the gut and stuffed the Broncos for a 2 yard loss and a turnover on downs. The Chiefs would then use their shotgun effectively in their 2 minute offensive to drive inside the Broncos 20 yard line. Matt Cassel then threw an interception in the end zone to ruin a shot at getting at least 3 points. The Broncos would then run out the clock to go into halftime at 7-7.

    3rd Quarter
The Chiefs put together a nice drive once again and settle for a Ryan Succop 26 yard FG to make the score 10-7 Chiefs. The Broncos would do their thing once again by driving down the field and kicking a 23 yd FG by Matt Prater to make the score 10-10 as time expired in the 3rd Quarter.

    4th Quarter
The Chiefs open the quarter with the ensuing kickoff and then go 3 and out and are forced to punt. The Broncos end up punting the ball back. The Chiefs drive down into the red zone where the Broncos are forced to burn all their timeouts with only 2 minutes remaining. Coach Badabing uses the only strategy to give his team a chance and allows the Chiefs to run it in with Thomas Jones from 3 yards out with 1:27 to play and no timeouts. 17-10 Chiefs. On the Broncos final drive, Kyle Orton tries to fit in a pass downfield and is off target and FS Reshard Langford picks it off to seal the deal and the win for the Chiefs.

Great Game Badabing, welcome to the OMFL. See you again in 3 weeks. As always, it hasn't been pretty, but Coach Bluebean is at it again. The Bills (11-5)&(8-8), Rams(10-6), and now the Chiefs?

Truly a great game and an example of why these sim leagues are so fun to play in. Bluebean and I were joking that there aren't many sim games that feature three fourth down attempts in the first half, but they were all no brainers.

The loss dealt a severe blow the Broncos division chances, as they now trail the Chiefs by 3 games with 7 games left. The only consolation is that four of those games are within the division. They will try to rebound in week 11 against AFC West rival San Diego.

That's about as close as you can get statistically besides the time of possession.
