Week 10 Game Summaries
Advancing now. Good Luck guys
UNLV 63 BYU 24
The game was pretty much over as it started. BYU came out flat and never really got much going and UNLV ran the ball at will. BYU had better athletes on their offense but never really matched them up well against a mediocre UNLV secondary.

University of Louisiana Monroe (12) @ Florida International (26)
The Golden Panthers of FIU remain undefeated in Sunbelt Conference Play, and the fans in South Florida are anxiously awaiting a match up against Arkansas State, which will probably decide the outcome of the Sunbelt Conference. This was an ugly game, that was untimately won between the trenches for the Golden Panthers. There was a couple of nice play calls by Coach Stewart, and the entire offense executed them perfectly and the result was two long runs by D. Perry. The Golden Panthers D stepped up when they needed to in the first half holding ULM to, two field goal attempts, both were missed, or else this might have been a lot closer of a game. We caught up with Coach Stewart down on the field.
"Well we had another had faught victory today, it wasn't pretty but a "W" is a "W" and last time I checked we were still undefeated in the Sun Belt. We've got two tough games coming up on the road and that's what were focused on, although I'm sure lots of our fans are looking forward to the big match up against Arkansas State, if we don't win those two games, that games not going to matter very much."
First Downs 20/11
Total Offense 429/342
Passing Yards 355/153

Nice write up, nice win! 33% 3rd down conversion and 11 first downs is killer.. way to pull it out though
Red Wolves Cruise
On Saturday the Red Wolves hosted MTSU in Sun Belt conference play. The Blue Raiders opened up the game driving down the field with their air raid offense. Once the Raiders got into scoring position thats when the trouble began. The Red Wolves defense took advantage of numerous turnovers to take the wind out of the air raid offense. At the half the Red Wolves led 35-7 and held on to that lead until the end of the game. The Red Wolves defense was the story of the game forcing fumbles, snatching picks and rushing the MTSU qb.
Coach Sabo said "This was a defining moment for our defense. We proved even when facing a high power fast paced offense we have what it takes to control the tempo."

Nevada Steamrolls Idaho to the Tune of 55-14
Things are definitely different for the Nevada Wolf Pack after their early season loss to Cal. Winners of 6 straight, Nevada is knocking on the doors of the Top 25 Rankings and look poise to make an appearance if they take down ranked Fresno State next week. However, they had to first deal with Idaho this weekend.
From the opening whistle, this game was dominated by Nevada, especially Heisman candidate Via Taua. Despite playing limited minutes, Taua rushed 11 times for 3 TDS and 113 yards. "We are in a groove man. I love it," said Taua. The Wolf Pack jumped to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 24-7 at halftime.
Not to be outdone, Kaepernick opened up the 3rd quarter with a 68 yard strike to wide receiver Malcolm Shephard. "I hope they don't show this on ESPN. That had to be the slowest 68 yard run this year," said a smiling Shephard. "I looked like I had sandbags attached to my legs!"
Despite the offensive fireworks, the player of the game was CB Isaiah Frey. Frey had two interceptions and even returned a fumble for a TD. Amazingly enough, Nevada brought back another fumble for a TD immediately afterwards, with DT Wesley Hollingshed rumbling for 94 yards on the play. "That big boy can move. I might have to play him at wide receiver next year," said Coach Nguyen. "He's a helluva faster runner than Shephard!"
The second stringers played all of the 4th quarter and struggled to keep Idaho from moving down the field. "Our guys have to do better. We are losing a lot of starters next year...who is going to step up? I really don't know yet," said coach Nguyen.

San Diego State Aztecs (9-0) 34 vs. Colorado State Rams (3-7) 28
The Aztecs were tested once again at home this week as they squeaked by conference foe Colorado State by a score of 34-28. "Things just keep going our way," said Coach E "Now being 9-0, people expect us to win, but we have our toughest 3 games of the season coming up with #20 TCU, #15 Utah, and a UNLV team that is knocking on the door of a top 25 bid."
The Aztec offense was lead by running back Walter Kazee who rushed for 139 yards on 23 carries and 2 TD. Ryan Lindley was 14-19 for 226 yards, 2 TD and 1 INT. Receiver Doug Deakin Caught 7 passes for 143 yards and 2 TD.
The play of the day came when Derek Mack returned a punt for 92 yards for a TD. "Derek has been great on special teams for us this year," said Coach E "He's returned 2 punts to the house and im expecting at least 1 more before the season is over."
The Aztec defense struggled today and wasn't able to find its normal groove. Colorado State running back Josh Mosure rushed for 144 yards and 2 TD and quarterback Klay Kubiak went 19-25 for 254 yards and 1 TD. BJ Williams of the Aztecs did record his 14th sack of the season.

Ohio Head Coach Garrison was all smiles after Saturday's game and this is what he had to say following the game:
"We played hard on both sides of the ball today and came away with the much needed win to stay in the thick of things in conference play and now we go into the bye week needing to get some guys healthy and back on the field to finish up our season strong here. Hopefully when we meet up with Temple in a couple of weeks our backfield will have all its components back with Inks and Davidson getting healthy. When those guys both get back we're going to find ways to get them on the field at the same time!"
Nevada Downs Fresno State
Nevada Escapes Fresno State 38-30
Ranked for the first time all season, Nevada avoided an epic collapse against Fresno State. With a boisterious crowd on hand to cheer their team to an upset, the Fresno State faithfuls were relentless throughout the game. "It was so loud out there...a lot of colorful language," said Coach Nguyen.
Right from the beginning, Nevada faced their worst nightmare: Via Taua getting injured. The last time Taua was injured early in the game, Cal seized the momentum and gave Nevada the only lost of the season. However, this injury was even more serious than the first, resulting in Taua missing the next 5 weeks. "I feel for him. He is a Heisman candidate and also a senior. This isn't how it should be," said Coach Nguyen. "He has lead us this far and we appreciate it. But he also knows that this team is about more than one guy. Taua will be on the sidelines mentoring the players and cheering us on. That's just who he is," said Coach Nguyen.
In the first quarter, backup HB Lampford Mark ran in for a 1yard touchdown, the first of two TD's for the day. However, he only managed 37 yards on a whopping 19 carries. Fresno State answered the call by moving the ball down field methodically. On 4 and inches from the goal line, the Nevada defense made an improbable stop. "That was a killer. They were absolutely deflated. I mean they just needed a few inches to get in the endzone. Not today. Not against this team," said defensive leader Dontay Moch.
A quick Kaepernick TD throw and a Mike Andrews fumble return for a TD ensued. Fresno State would score right before halftime to make it 21-7, Nevada. The 3rd quarter was rather drab, with Mark getting his second TD of the day. The 4th quarter was when things got really interesting. Up 35-7, Nevada decided to run out the clock rather than passing the ball downfield against a Fresno State defense that was baffled by the aerial attack. This lead to quick 3 and outs due to Lampford Mark being absolutely unproductive. Fresno State capitalized by scoring 3 TD's and converting 2 2pt conversions. Their final rally was an onside kick that didn't materialize, resulting in the final score being 38-30. "Next time, we're throwing the ball. It's not about sportsmanship, it's about closing games out," said a defiant Kaepernick.
How will Nevada respond, as it is painfully obvious that they will no longer be able to grind it out in the running game. Will Taua's injury derail Nevada's hope for the conference championship and a chance at a major bowl game? Tune in next week!

La Tech Vs. Fresno St.
Louisiana Tech is back to their winning ways after a sound thrashing or #20 ranked Fresno State.
The Bulldogs Kicked off scoring after CB Olajuwan Paige took a fumble 19 yards for a score. Tyrone Duplessis fooled up with a 3 yard TD rush to leave the score 14-0 at the close of the 1st.
In the second quarter, Duplessis took a handoff and burned for 91 yards to put Tech up 21-0. Colby Cameron then threw a 14 yard strike to RP Stuart to put the Dogs up 28-0. Fresno scored a FG at the close of the 3rd, but by then the game was in hand. Tech scored a FG also to leave the final score, 31-3
"I'm proud of my kids they put last week behind them and came and whipped a pretty good team." "I hope we can keep the train rolling."
